In 2021, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) Data Library and Archives (DLA), a part of the MBLWHOI (Marine Biological Laboratory Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution) Library, received a grant from the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) Recordings at Risk (RAR) program to catalog, digitize, preserve, and make available historic films and videos of Alvin, the first-of-its-kind manned submersible vessel that has shown us more of the deep ocean than had ever been possible and transformed our understanding of life on Earth.

In the summer of 2019, UNMC’s McGoogan Health Sciences Library closed for renovation. At the same time, new construction of the Wigton Heritage Center, a museum dedicated to the history of UNMC and the health sciences in Nebraska, began. The team worked with an outside design firm on all the typical exhibition creation needs and then along came a pandemic, and a few other “glitches” along the way. In 2021, Phase 1a opened, and Phases 1b and 2 followed in 2022-2023. The Sidney Schnur, MD papers document his work as a cardiologist and clinical professor at Baylor College of Medicine. The papers include materials related to St. Joseph's Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital, and a variety of professional organizations. Foremost among these are a number of records relating to the Harris County Medical Society around the time of his presidency in 1972. There are also records from his involvement in the American Heart Association, Houston Heart Association, and other groups. See more at MS 031.

McGovern, includes medical ledgers, bills, apothecary receipts, legal documents, colonization contracts, a book about the effects of climate and weather changes on disease and death, correspondence, legislative and government records, official government seals, Republic-era currency, and more! All historical documents in this collection have been digitized and can be viewed and accessed alongside the finding aid.

The definition of scholarly content has expanded to include the data and source code that contribute to a publication. While major archiving efforts to preserve conventional scholarly content, typically in PDFs (e.g., LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, Portico), are underway, no analogous effort has yet emerged to preserve the data and code referenced in those PDFs, particularly the scholarly code hosted online on Git Hosting Platforms (GHPs). Similarly, Software Heritage is working to archive public source code, but there is value in archiving the surrounding ephemera that provide important context to the code while maintaining their original URIs. In this presentation, we describe the current web archiving program at the University of Kentucky Libraries; provide an overview of the "Wildcat Histories" activist student organization social media preservation project, funded by Project STAND; discuss the technical aspects of the "Wildcat Histories" project; and the project's current status and lessons learned.

On Being Seen, On Being Legible, On Being: A Black, Agender Perspective On A Career In Libraries, Adrian Williams

This ethnographic essay explores the author’s journey in understanding, contending with, and building a career in academic libraries that is affirming to their Black and agender identity. The essay discusses the hypervisibility of the author’s race in libraries, in contrast to the invisibility of their transness, and how that contrast has affected how they navigate their work as a pre-tenure librarian.

How does it feel to create a record? What personal impact does it have to represent yourself in a record after being misrepresented in records created about you by someone else? Employing a participatory action research (PAR) research design alongside two community archives, this article answers these questions through empirical interview and focus group data collected from people who told and recorded their stories as part of participatory projects led by the Texas After Violence Project (TAVP) and the South Asian American Digital Archive (SAADA).
