The Mindset Of Recordkeeping: The Intersection Of Records Management And Organizational Psychology, Hannah N. Pryor

Faculty and Staff Scholarship

Purpose: This literature review aims to synthesize records and information management (RIM) with the professional literature of industrial/organizational (I/O) psychology to explain undesirable recordkeeping behaviors that may manifest in employees who interact with business records. Design/methodology/approach: The author’s views are based on a literature review of both records management and organizational psychology trends and draw on case studies that identify undesirable recordkeeping behavior. Findings: There is considerable overlap between the problems encountered by RIM professionals and the answers offered by I/O psychology. I/O psychology offers us the tools to better understand recordkeeping behaviors. Originality/value: The author proposes using I/O psychology …

In today's Middle East, a number of institutions of research and higher education have American origins, and several maintain archives and special collections. This article offers case studies of repositories at four of these institutions: the American University of Beirut (AUB), the American University in Cairo (AUC), the American Center of Research (ACOR) in Jordan, and New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD). LBSCI 730: Archival Appraisal, Arrangement, and Access is the first course in the core sequence for the Advanced Certificate in Archives and Preservation of Cultural Materials at the Queens College Graduate School of Library and Information Studies. The key principles of this course represent the hierarchy of archival practice: access to archives is dependent on the description of archives, which in turn is dependent on the arrangement of archives.

Digital Commons@TMC, an online repository sponsored by The TMC Library, experienced a busy year with 702 new articles, images, dissertations, and audio-visual materials submissions (255% increase from 2022), bringing the total count to 8,338, viewed monthly by 7,066 institutions and 210 countries (up 5.5% from 2022) around the world.

The Digital Commons@TMC also includes historical materials. The McGovern Historical Center recently digitized and shared online more than 50 archival films, videos, and sound recordings. Digitization was made possible by funding from the South Central Academic Medical Libraries Consortium.
