Global Dynamics Of A Water-Borne Disease Model With Multiple Transmission Pathways, Prasanta K. Mondal, T. K. Kar
Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)
We propose and analyze a water born disease model introducing water-to-person and person-toperson transmission and saturated incidence. The disease-free equilibrium and the existence criterion of endemic equilibrium are investigated. Trans critical bifurcation at the disease-free equilibrium is obtained when the basic reproductive number is one. The local stability of both the equilibria is shown and a Lyapunov functional approach is also applied to explore the global stability of the system around the equilibria. We display the effects of pathogen contaminated water and infection through contact on the system dynamics in the absence of person-to-person contact as well as in the …

Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Level crossing times and their applications in finance are of importance, given certain threshold levels that represent the "desirable" or "sell" values of a stock. In this thesis, we make use of Wald's lemmas and various deep results from renewal theory, in the context of finance, in modelling the growth of a portfolio of stocks. Several models are employed .
Effects Of Hru Size On Prms Performance In 30 Western U.S. Basins, 2013 Portland State University
Effects Of Hru Size On Prms Performance In 30 Western U.S. Basins, Madeline Olena Steele
Dissertations and Theses
Semi-distributed hydrological models are often used for streamflow forecasting, hydrological climate change impact assessments, and other applications. In such models, basins are broken up into hydrologic response units (HRUs), which are assumed to have a relatively homogenous response to precipitation. HRUs are delineated in a variety of ways, and the procedure used may impact model performance. HRU delineation procedures have been researched, but it is still not clear how important these subdivision schemes are or which delineation methods are most effective. To start addressing this knowledge gap, this project investigated whether or not HRU size has a significant effect on …

A Cauchy Problem For Some Local Fractional Abstract Differential Equation With Fractal Conditions, Yang Xiaojun, Zhong Weiping, Gao Feng
Xiao-Jun Yang
Fractional calculus is an important method for mathematics and engineering [1-24]. In this paper, we review the existence and uniqueness of solutions to the Cauchy problem for the local fractional differential equation with fractal conditions \[ D^\alpha x\left( t \right)=f\left( {t,x\left( t \right)} \right),t\in \left[ {0,T} \right], x\left( {t_0 } \right)=x_0 , \] where $0<\alpha \le 1$ in a generalized Banach space. We use some new tools from Local Fractional Functional Analysis [25, 26] to obtain the results.

Challenges And Prospects Of Processes Utilising Carbonic Anhydrase For Co2 Separation, 2013 Wroclaw University of Technology
Challenges And Prospects Of Processes Utilising Carbonic Anhydrase For Co2 Separation, Patrycja Szeligiewicz, Wojciech M. Budzianowski
Wojciech Budzianowski
This article provides an analysis of processes for separation CO2 by using carbonic anhydrase enzyme with particular emphasis on reactive-membrane solutions. Three available processes are characterised. Main challenges and prospects are given. It is found that in view of numerous challenges practical applications of these processes will be difficult in near future. Further research is therefore needed for improving existing processes through finding methods for eliminating their main drawbacks such as short lifetime of carbonic anhydrase or low resistance of reactive membrane systems to impurities contained in flue gases from power plants.

Mapping And Decomposing Scale-Dependent Soil Moisture Variability Within An Inner Bluegrass Landscape, 2013 University of Kentucky
Mapping And Decomposing Scale-Dependent Soil Moisture Variability Within An Inner Bluegrass Landscape, Carla Landrum
Theses and Dissertations--Plant and Soil Sciences
There is a shared desire among public and private sectors to make more reliable predictions, accurate mapping, and appropriate scaling of soil moisture and associated parameters across landscapes. A discrepancy often exists between the scale at which soil hydrologic properties are measured and the scale at which they are modeled for management purposes. Moreover, little is known about the relative importance of hydrologic modeling parameters as soil moisture fluctuates with time. More research is needed to establish which observation scales in space and time are optimal for managing soil moisture variation over large spatial extents and how these scales are …

This article describes methods of the determination of kinetic parameters from the thermogravimetric data set of biomass samples. It presents the methodology of the research, description of the needed equipment, and the method of analysis of thermogravimetric data. It describes both methodology of obtaining quantitative data such as kinetic parameters as well as of obtaining qualitative data like the composition of biomass. The study is focused mainly on plant biomass because it is easy in harvesting and preparation. Methodology is shown on the sample containing corn stover which is subsequently pyrolysed. The investigated sample show the kinetic of first order …

Effect Of Rising Temperature Due To Ozone Depletion On The Dynamics Of A Prey-Predator System: A Mathematical Model, 2012 Jiwaji University
Effect Of Rising Temperature Due To Ozone Depletion On The Dynamics Of A Prey-Predator System: A Mathematical Model, O. P. Misra, Preety Kalra
Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)
It is well recognized that the greenhouse gas such as Chlorofluoro Carbon (CFC) is responsible directly or indirectly for the increase in the average global temperature of the Earth. The presence of CFC is responsible for the depletion of ozone concentration in the atmosphere due to which the heat accompanied with the sun rays are less absorbed causing increase in the atmospheric temperature of the Earth. The increase in the temperature level directly or indirectly affects the dynamics of interacting species systems. Therefore, in this paper a mathematical model is proposed and analyzed using stability theory to asses the effects …
Electric Currents Due To Stress-Activated Positive Hole Charge Carriers In Ice, 2012 Michigan Technological University
Electric Currents Due To Stress-Activated Positive Hole Charge Carriers In Ice, Cary T. Keller P.E., Friedemann T. Freund, Dale P. Cruikshank
STAR Program Research Presentations
Jupiter’s satellite Europa, whose surface is composed of ice with a possible water ocean beneath, could conceivably serve as an abode for extraterrestrial life. This and other icy celestial bodies may contain organic macromolecular solid material that is produced when surface ices are exposed to ultraviolet radiation and/or electrical energy. Tidal and tectonic stresses or meteorite impacts in icy crusts may produce electrical discharges, which would provide the energy for in-situ synthesis of the organic solids. This electrical energy can be provided by positive hole charge carrier activation. Positive holes exhibit properties such as the ability to flow out of …
Hydrologic Modeling To Examine Land Use Change Impacts (1970’S And 2005) On The Sediment Yield And Flow Regime In Cayuga Creek, Niagara County, New York, 2012 State University of New York College at Buffalo
Hydrologic Modeling To Examine Land Use Change Impacts (1970’S And 2005) On The Sediment Yield And Flow Regime In Cayuga Creek, Niagara County, New York, Kimly Reth
Multidisciplinary Studies Theses
This research aims to assess the water quality and the land use change impacts on sediment concentration and flow regime in Cayuga Creek, Niagara County, NY for two land use periods, 1970’s and 2005. The 1970’s land use, classified by the USGS, had a significant error. Therefore, the scenario of sediment yield and discharge level to land use change is more of a “what if” since the 1970’s land use was classified incorrectly. The Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT)was used to simulate flows and sediment concentrations for the two land use scenarios using the same rainfall data at the …

Archery, in one form or another, has been around for thousands of years yet research into what makes an archer 'good' is still in its infancy. There are several variations over bow type and different competitions which can be competed, previous works have focused on Recurve (Olympic) bow types whilst Compound have generally been ignored. Research in the area has tended to focus on muscle activation patterns using Electromyography (EMG) and aiming based studies, where generally scores are used as a factor to correlate to.
AIM: The aim of this research is to offer a development from the use of …
