Some Results Of Double Sequences In 2-Normed And N-Normed Spaces, P. R. Kavyasree, B. Surender Reddy 2019 Osmania University

Some Results Of Double Sequences In 2-Normed And N-Normed Spaces, P. R. Kavyasree, B. Surender Reddy

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

The primary purpose of this paper is to introduce the notion of double sequences in 2-normed space. We provide a simple way to derive a norm from the standard 2-norm by using double sequences when a 2-normed space is given. Equivalence relation between derived norm and the usual norm are established. Using this derived norm, we examine the completeness property of a 2-normed space and we extend the results to n-normed spaces.

Operator Algebras Generated By Left Invertibles, Derek DeSantis 2019 University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Operator Algebras Generated By Left Invertibles, Derek Desantis

Department of Mathematics: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research

Operator algebras generated by partial isometries and their adjoints form the basis for some of the most well studied classes of C*-algebras. Representations of such algebras encode the dynamics of orthonormal sets in a Hilbert space. We instigate a research program on concrete operator algebras that model the dynamics of Hilbert space frames.

The primary object of this thesis is the norm-closed operator algebra generated by a left invertible $T$ together with its Moore-Penrose inverse $T^\dagger$. We denote this algebra by $\mathfrac{A}_T$. In the isometric case, $T^\dagger = T^*$ and $\mathfrac{A}_T$ is a representation of the Toeplitz algebra. Of particular interest …

Radiation Effect On Mixed Convection Flow Of Nanofluid Between Two Concentric Cylinders With Hall And Ion-Slip Effects, Md. Shafeeurrahman, D. Srinivasacharya

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

This paper analyzes the effects of thermal radiation, Hall and ion slip parameter on mixed convective nanofluid flow in an annuli between two concentric cylinders in the existence of strong magnetic field. The nonlinear governing equations are non-dimensionalized and then solved by using homotopy analysis method. The influence of radiation, magnetic, Hall and ion slip parameters on the velocity, temperature, nanoparticle concentration, Nusselt number and nanoparticle Sherwood number are investigated and represented graphically.

The Odd Log-Logistic Gompertz Lifetime Distribution: Properties And Applications, Morad Alizadeh, Saeid Tahmasebi, Mohammad Reza Kazemi, Hamideh Siyamar Arabi Nejad, Gholamhossein G. Hamedani 2019 Persian Gulf University-Bushehr

The Odd Log-Logistic Gompertz Lifetime Distribution: Properties And Applications, Morad Alizadeh, Saeid Tahmasebi, Mohammad Reza Kazemi, Hamideh Siyamar Arabi Nejad, Gholamhossein G. Hamedani

Mathematical and Statistical Science Faculty Research and Publications

In this paper, we introduce a new three-parameter generalized version of the Gompertz model called the odd log-logistic Gompertz (OLLGo) distribution. It includes some well-known lifetime distributions such as Gompertz (Go) and odd log-logistic exponential (OLLE) as special sub-models. This new distribution is quite flexible and can be used effectively in modeling survival data and reliability problems. It can have a decreasing, increasing and bathtub-shaped failure rate function depending on its parameters. Some mathematical properties of the new distribution, such as closed-form expressions for the density, cumulative distribution, hazard rate function, the kth order moment, moment generating function and …

Pbw Bases And Marginally Large Tableaux In Types B And C, Jackson A. Criswell, Ben Salisbury, Peter Tingley 2019 Central Michigan University

Pbw Bases And Marginally Large Tableaux In Types B And C, Jackson A. Criswell, Ben Salisbury, Peter Tingley

Mathematics and Statistics: Faculty Publications and Other Works

We explicitly describe the isomorphism between two combinatorial realizations of Kashiwara’s infinity crystal in types B and C. The first realization is in terms of marginally large tableaux and the other is in terms of Kostant partitions coming from PBW bases. We also discuss a stack notation for Kostant partitions which simplifies that realization.

Predicting Time To Dementia Using A Quantitative Template Of Disease Progression, Murat Bilgel, Bruno Jedynak

Portland Institute for Computational Science Publications

Introduction: Characterization of longitudinal trajectories of biomarkers implicated in sporadic Alzheimer's disease (AD) in decades prior to clinical diagnosis is important for disease prevention and monitoring.

Methods: We used a multivariate Bayesian model to temporally align 1369 AD Neuroimaging Initiative participants based on the similarity of their longitudinal biomarker measures and estimated a quantitative template of the temporal evolution cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) Aβ1-42, p-tau181p, and t-tau, hippocampal volume, brain glucose metabolism, and cognitive measurements. We computed biomarker trajectories as a function of time to AD dementia, and predicted AD dementia onset age in a …

Neuroevolutional Methods For Decision Support Under Uncertainty, Nina Komleva, Olga Khlopkova, Matthew He 2019 Plekhanov Russian University of Economics - Moscow

Neuroevolutional Methods For Decision Support Under Uncertainty, Nina Komleva, Olga Khlopkova, Matthew He

Mathematics Faculty Articles

The article presents a comparative analysis of the fundamental neuroevolutional methods, which are widely applied for the intellectualization of the decision making support systems under uncertainty. Based on this analysis the new neuroevolutionary method is introduced. It is intended to modify both the topology and the parameters of the neural network, and not to impose additional constraints on the individual. The results of the experimental evaluation of the performance of the methods based on the series of benchmark tasks of adaptive control, classification and restoration of damaged data are carried out. As criteria of the methods evaluation the number of …

The Problem Of Integral Geometry For A Family Curves With Specials, A.Kh. Begmatov, Z.X. Ochilov, A.Z. Khusanov

Scientific Journal of Samarkand University

We study new problem of reconstruction of a function in a strip from their given integrals with known weight function along polygonal lines. We obtained two simply inversion formulas for the solution to the problem. We prove uniqueness theorems for solutions and obtain stability estimates of a solution to the problem in Sobolev’s spaces and thus show their weak illposedness.

On The Cauchy Problem For The Laplace Equation, A.B. Khasanov, Z. Malikov, F.R. Tursunov

Scientific Journal of Samarkand University

The article studies the problem of continuation of the solution and the stability estimate of the Cauchy problem for the Laplace equation in a domain G by its known values on the smooth part S of the boundary G  . The considered problem belongs to the problems of mathematical physics, in which there is no continuous dependence of solutions on the initial data. It is assumed that the solution to the problem exists and is continuously differentiable in a closed domain with exac tly given Cauchy data. For this case, an explicit formula for the continuation of the solution …

Sustainable Energy Governance In South Tyrol (Italy): A Probabilistic Bipartite Network Model, Jessica Belest, Laura Secco, Elena Pisani, Alberto Caimo 2019 EURAC Research, Italy

Sustainable Energy Governance In South Tyrol (Italy): A Probabilistic Bipartite Network Model, Jessica Belest, Laura Secco, Elena Pisani, Alberto Caimo

Articles

At the national scale, almost all of the European countries have already achieved energy transition targets, while at the regional and local scales, there is still some potential to further push sustainable energy transitions. Regions and localities have the support of political, social, and economic actors who make decisions for meeting existing social, environmental and economic needs recognising local specificities.

These actors compose the sustainable energy governance that is fundamental to effectively plan and manage energy resources. In collaborative relationships, these actors share, save, and protect several kinds of resources, thereby making energy transitions deeper and more effective.

This research …

Gender Difference In Indian Consumption Expenditure., Mannu Dwivedi Dr. 2019 Indian Statistical Institute

Gender Difference In Indian Consumption Expenditure., Mannu Dwivedi Dr.

Doctoral Theses

The goal of any development policy is to increase the living standard of the people in the society. In any developing country, the efficiency of such policy depends on how families reallocate the resources among themselves. If the distribution is even within the family then only it can be said that the policy was fruitful. Therefore, a family is an important part of any policy and the allocation within the family should be just. But, the distribution of the resources among the family members are not always equal. Inequality always exists! Discrimination against girls or women persists in approximately all …

Action Of Complex Symplectic Matrices On The Siegel Upper Half Space, Keshav R. Acharya, Matt McBride 2019 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Action Of Complex Symplectic Matrices On The Siegel Upper Half Space, Keshav R. Acharya, Matt Mcbride

Publications

The Siegel upper half space, Sn, the space of complex symmetric matrices, Z with positive definite imaginary part, is the generalization of the complex upper half plane in higher dimensions. In this paper, we study a generalization of linear fractional transformations, ΦS, where S is a complex symplectic matrix, on the Siegel upper half space. We partially classify the complex symplectic matrices for which ΦS(Z) is well defined. We also consider Sn and Sn as metric spaces and discuss distance properties of the map ΦS from Sn to Sn and Sn respectively.

A Note On Equity Within Differential Equations Education By Visualization, Younes KarimiFardinpour 2019 Islamic Azad University, Ahar Branch

A Note On Equity Within Differential Equations Education By Visualization, Younes Karimifardinpour

CODEE Journal

The growing importance of education equity is partly based on the premise that an individual's level of education directly correlates to future quality of life. Educational equity for differential equations (DEs) is related to achievement, fairness, and opportunity. Therefore, a pedagogy that practices DE educational equity gives a strong foundation of social justice. However, linguistic barriers pose a challenge to equity education in DEs. For example, I found myself teaching DEs either in classrooms with a low proficiency in the language of instruction or in multilingual classrooms. I grappled with a way to create an equity educational environment that supported …

The Ocean And Climate Change: Stommel's Conceptual Model, James Walsh 2019 Oberlin College

The Ocean And Climate Change: Stommel's Conceptual Model, James Walsh

CODEE Journal

The ocean plays a major role in our climate system and in climate change. In this article we present a conceptual model of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), an important component of the ocean's global energy transport circulation that has, in recent times, been weakening anomalously. Introduced by Henry Stommel, the model results in a two-dimensional system of first order ODEs, which we explore via Mathematica. The model exhibits two stable regimes, one having an orientation aligned with today's AMOC, and the other corresponding to a reversal of the AMOC. This material is appropriate for a junior-level mathematical …

Kremer's Model Relating Population Growth To Changes In Income And Technology, Dan Flath 2019 University of Arizona

Kremer's Model Relating Population Growth To Changes In Income And Technology, Dan Flath

CODEE Journal

For thousands of years the population of Earth increased slowly, while per capita income remained essentially constant, at subsistence level. At the beginning of the industrial revolution around 1800, population began to increase very rapidly and income started to climb. Then in the second half of the twentieth century as a demographic transition began, the birth and death rates, as well as the world population growth rate, began to decline. The reasons for these transitions are hotly debated with no expert consensus yet emerging. It's the problem of economic growth. In this document we investigate a mathematical model of economic …

A Model Of The Transmission Of Cholera In A Population With Contaminated Water, Therese Shelton, Emma Kathryn Groves, Sherry Adrian 2019 Southwestern University

A Model Of The Transmission Of Cholera In A Population With Contaminated Water, Therese Shelton, Emma Kathryn Groves, Sherry Adrian

CODEE Journal

Cholera is an infectious disease that is a major concern in countries with inadequate access to clean water and proper sanitation. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), "cholera is a disease of inequity--an ancient illness that today sickens and kills only the poorest and most vulnerable people\dots The map of cholera is essentially the same as a map of poverty." We implement a published model (Fung, "Cholera Transmission Dynamic Models for Public Health Practitioners," Emerging Themes in Epidemiology, 2014) of a SIR model that includes a bacterial reservoir. Bacterial concentration in the water is modeled by the Monod …

An Epidemiological Math Model Approach To A Political System With Three Parties, Selenne Bañuelos, Ty Danet, Cynthia Flores, Angel Ramos 2019 California State University, Channel Islands

An Epidemiological Math Model Approach To A Political System With Three Parties, Selenne Bañuelos, Ty Danet, Cynthia Flores, Angel Ramos

CODEE Journal

The United States has proven to be and remains a dual political party system. Each party is associated to its own ideologies, yet work by Baldassarri and Goldberg in Neither Ideologues Nor Agnostics show that many Americans have positions on economic and social issues that don't fall into one of the two mainstream party platforms. Our interest lies in studying how recruitment from one party into another impacts an election. In particular, there was a growing third party presence in the 2000 and 2016 elections. Motivated by previous work, an epidemiological approach is taken to treat the spread of ideologies …
