Infinitely Many Rotationally Symmetric Solutions To A Class Of Semilinear Laplace-Beltrami Equations On The Unit Sphere, Emily M. Fischer

I show that a class of semilinear Laplace-Beltrami equations has infinitely many solutions on the unit sphere which are symmetric with respect to rotations around some axis. This equation corresponds to a singular ordinary differential equation, which we solve using energy analysis. We obtain a Pohozaev-type identity to prove that the energy is continuously increasing with the initial condition and then use phase plane analysis to prove the existence of infinitely many solutions.

In 1973, Combes and Thomas discovered a general technique for showing exponential decay of eigenfunctions. The technique involved proving the exponential decay of the resolvent of the Schrödinger operator localized between two distant regions. Since then, the technique has been been applied to several types of Schrödinger operators. This dissertation will show that the Combes--Thomas method works well with trace, Hilbert--Schmidt and other trace-type norms. The first result we prove shows exponential decay on trace-type norms of a resolvent of a Schrödinger operator localized between two distant regions. In 1976, Uhlenbeck used transversality theory to show that for certain families of elliptic operators, the property of having only simple eigenvalues is generic. As one application, she proved that on a closed Riemannian manifold, the eigenvalues of the Laplace-Beltrami operator Δg are all simple for a residual set of Cr metrics. In 2012, Enciso and Peralta-Salas established an analogue of Uhlenbeck's theorem for differential forms, showing that on a closed 3-manifold, there exists a residual set of Cr metrics such that the nonzero eigenvalues of the Hodge Laplacian Δg(k) on k-forms are all …

The Support Vector Machine (SVM) classification method has recently gained popularity due to the ease of implementing non-linear separating surfaces. SVM is an optimization problem with the two competing goals, minimizing misclassification on training data and maximizing a margin defined by the normal vector of a learned separating surface. We develop and implement new SVM models based on previously conceived SVM with L_1-Norm regularization with ramp loss error terms. For both nonrelativistic and relativistic Hamiltonians, the Complex Absorbing Potential (CAP) method has been applied extensively to calculate resonances in Physics and Chemistry. We study clusters of resonances for the perturbed Dirac operator near the real axis and, in the semiclassical limit, we establish the CAP method rigorously by showing that resonances are perturbed eigenvalues of the nonselfadjoint CAP Hamiltonian, and vice versa.

We study the Hausdorff dimension of a certain Borel measure associated to a positive weak solution of a certain quasilinear elliptic partial differential equation in a simply connected domain in the plane. We also assume that the solution vanishes on the boundary of the domain. Then it is shown that the Hausdorff dimension of this measure is less than one, equal to one, greater than one depending on the homogeneity of the certain function. The main purpose of this paper is to develop Titchmarsh- Weyl theory of canonical systems. To this end, we first observe the fact that Schrodinger and Jacobi equations can be written into canonical systems. We then discuss the theory of Weyl m-function for canonical systems and establish the relation between the Weyl m-functions of Schrodinger equations and that of canonical systems which involve Schrodinger equations.

A Pick function of variables is a holomorphic map from to , where is the upper halfplane. Some Pick functions of one variable have an asymptotic expansion at infinity, a power series with real numbers that gives an asymptotic expansion on non-tangential approach regions to infinity. In 1921 H. Hamburger characterized which sequences can occur. We give an extension of Hamburger's results to Pick functions of two variables.

We study the averaged mean curvature ow, also called the volume preserving mean curvature ow, in the particular setting of axisymmetric surfaces embedded in R3 satisfying periodic boundary conditions. We establish analytic well-posedness of the ow within the space of little-Holder continuous surfaces, given rough initial data. We also establish dynamic properties of equilibria, including stability, instability, and bifurcation behavior of cylinders, where the radius acts as a bifurcation parameter.

In this book authors for the first time introduce the notion of distance between any two m  n matrices. If the distance is 0 or m  n there is nothing interesting. When the distance happens to be a value t; 0 < t < m  n the study is both innovating and interesting. The three cases of study which is carried out in this book are 1. If the difference between two square matrices is large, will it imply the eigen values and eigen vectors of those matrices are distinct? Several open conjectures in this direction are given. 2. The main goal of this paper is to present new transformations, previously non-existent in traditional mathematics, that we call centric mathematics (CM) but that became possible due to the new born eccentric mathematics, and, implicitly, to the supermathematics (SM).

As shown in this work, the new geometric transformations, namely conversion or transfiguration, wipe the boundaries between discrete and continuous geometric forms, showing that the first ones are also continuous, being just apparently discontinuous.

Smarandache [6] generalized them to n-D Distance and n-D Dependent Function respectively in 2012 during his postdoc research at Guangdong University of Technology in Guangzhou. O. I. Şandru [7] extended the last results in 2013. Now [2015], as a further generalization, we unify all these results into a single formula for the n-D Distance and respectively for the n-D Dependent Function.

In this paper, we generalize the crisp topological space to the notion of neutrosophic crisp topological space, and we construct the basic concepts of the neutrosophic crisp topology. In addition to these, we introduce the definitions of neutrosophic crisp continuous function and neutrosophic crisp compact spaces. Finally, some characterizations concerning neutrosophic crisp compact spaces are presented and one obtains several properties. Possible application to GIS topology rules are touched upon.

The theory of rough sets was firstly proposed by Pawlak. Later on, Smarandache introduced the concept of neutrosophic (NS) sets in 1998. In this paper based on the concept of rough neutrosohic set, we define the concept of single valued neutrosophic information systems. In addition, we will discuss the knowledge reduction and extension of the single valued neutrosophic information systems.
