A boundary Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation problem is posed and solved in the quaternionic setting. Given nonnegative real numbers κ1,…,κN, quaternions p1,…,pN all of modulus 1, so that the 2-spheres determined by each point do not intersect and pu≠1 for u=1,…,N, and quaternions s1,…,sN, we wish to find a slice hyperholomorphic Schur function s so that
limr→1r∈(0,1)s(rpu)=suforu=1,…,N,
and
limr→1r∈(0,1)1−s(rpu)su¯¯¯¯¯1−r≤κu,foru=1,…,N.
Our arguments relies on the theory of slice hyperholomorphic functions and reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces.

On Algebras Which Are Inductive Limits Of Banach Spaces, Daniel Alpay, Guy Salomon
Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research
We introduce algebras which are inductive limits of Banach spaces and carry inequalities which are counterparts of the inequality for the norm in a Banach algebra. We then define an associated Wiener algebra, and prove the corresponding version of the well-known Wiener theorem. Finally, we consider factorization theory in these algebra, and in particular, in the associated Wiener algebra.

Determinantal Ideals From Symmetrized Skew Tableaux, Bill Robinson
Theses and Dissertations--Mathematics
We study a class of determinantal ideals called skew tableau ideals, which are generated by t x t minors in a subset of a symmetric matrix of indeterminates. The initial ideals have been studied in the 2 x 2 case by Corso, Nagel, Petrovic and Yuen. Using liaison techniques, we have extended their results to include the original determinantal ideals in the 2 x 2 case, as well as special cases of the ideals in the t x t case. In particular, for any skew tableau ideal of this form, we have defined an elementary biliaison between it and one …

Analysis And Constructions Of Subspace Codes, Carolyn E. Troha
Theses and Dissertations--Mathematics
Random network coding is the most effcient way to send data across a network, but it is very susceptible to errors and erasures. In 2008, Kotter and Kschischang introduced subspace codes as an algebraic approach to error correcting in random network coding. Since this paper, there has been much work in constructing large subspace codes, as well as exploring the properties of such codes. This dissertation explores properties of one particular construction and introduces a new construction for subspace codes. We begin by exploring properties of irreducible cyclic orbit codes, which were introduced in 2011 by Rosenthal et al. As …

Free Resolutions Associated To Representable Matroids, Nicholas D. Armenoff
Theses and Dissertations--Mathematics
As a matroid is naturally a simplicial complex, one can study its combinatorial properties via the associated Stanley-Reisner ideal and its corresponding free resolution. Using results by Johnsen and Verdure, we prove that a matroid is the dual to a perfect matroid design if and only if its corresponding Stanley-Reisner ideal has a pure free resolution, and, motivated by applications to their generalized Hamming weights, characterize free resolutions corresponding to the vector matroids of the parity check matrices of Reed-Solomon codes and certain BCH codes. Furthermore, using an inductive mapping cone argument, we construct a cellular resolution for the matroid …

The Unimodality Of Pure O-Sequences Of Type Two In Four Variables, Bernadette Boyle
Mathematics Faculty Publications
Since the 1970's, great interest has been taken in the study of pure O-sequences, which, due to Macaulay's theory of inverse systems, have a bijective correspondence to the Hilbert functions of Artinian level monomial algebras. Much progress has been made in classifying these according to their shape. Macaulay's theorem immediately gives us that all Artinian algebras in two variables have unimodal Hilbert functions. Furthermore, it has been shown that all Artinian level monomial algebras of type two in three variables have unimodal Hilbert functions. This paper will classify all Artinian level monomial algebras of type two in four variables into …

Enhancement On Counting Invariant On Symmetric Virtual Biracks, Melinda Ho
Scripps Senior Theses
This thesis introduces a new enhancement for virtual birack counting invariants. We first introduce knots and other general types of knots (oriented knots, framed knots, racks, and biracks). Then we’ll discuss the methods, knot invariants, mathematicians use to identify whether two knots are different. Next we’ll look at knots with virtual crossings and knots with a good involution. Finally, we introduce a new symmetric enhancement for virtual birack counting invariants and provide an example.

Weak Parallelogram Laws On Banach Spaces And Applications To Prediction, William T. Ross, R. Cheng
Department of Math & Statistics Faculty Publications
This paper concerns a family of weak parallelogram laws for Banach spaces. It is shown that the familiar Lebesgue spaces satisfy a range of these inequalities. Connections are made to basic geometric ideas, such as smoothness, convexity, and Pythagorean-type theorems. The results are applied to the linear prediction of random processes spanning a Banach space. In particular, the weak parallelogram laws furnish coefficient growth estimates, Baxter-type inequalities, and criteria for regularity.

We study natural bases for two constructions of the irreducible representation of the symmetric group corresponding to [n; n; n]: the reduced web basis associated to Kuperberg's combinatorial description of the spider category; and the left cell basis for the left cell construction of Kazhdan and Lusztig. In the case of [n; n], the spider category is the Temperley-Lieb category; reduced webs correspond to planar matchings, which are equivalent to left cell bases. This paper compares the image of these bases under classical maps: the Robinson-Schensted algorithm between permutations and Young tableaux and Khovanov-Kuperberg's bijection between …

In this book authors name the interval [0, m); 2 ≤ m ≤ ∞ as mod interval. We have studied several properties about them but only here on wards in this book and forthcoming books the interval [0, m) will be termed as the mod real interval, [0, m)I as mod neutrosophic interval, [0,m)g; g2 = 0 as mod dual number interval, [0, m)h; h2 = h as mod special dual like number interval and [0, m)k, k2 = (m − 1) k as mod special quasi dual number interval. However there is only one real interval (∞, ∞) but …

Neutrosophic Graphs: A New Dimension To Graph Theory, Florentin Smarandache, Wb. Vasantha Kandasamy, K. Ilanthenral

In this book authors for the first time have made a through study of neutrosophic graphs. This study reveals that these neutrosophic graphs give a new dimension to graph theory. The important feature of this book is it contains over 200 neutrosophic graphs to provide better understanding of this concepts. Further these graphs happen to behave in a unique way inmost cases, for even the edge colouring problem is different from the classical one. Several directions and dimensions in graph theory are obtained from this study. Finally certainly these new notions of neutrosophic graphs in general and in particular the …

The Module Isomorphism Problem Reconsidered, Peter A. Brooksbank
Faculty Journal Articles
Algorithms to decide isomorphism of modules have been honed continually over the last 30 years, and their range of applicability has been extended to include modules over a wide range of rings. Highly efficient computer implementations of these algorithms form the bedrock of systems such as GAP and MAGMA, at least in regard to computations with groups and algebras. By contrast, the fundamental problem of testing for isomorphism between other types of algebraic structures -- such as groups, and almost any type of algebra -- seems today as intractable as ever. What explains the vastly different complexity status of the …

Symbolic (or Literal) Neutrosophic Theory is referring to the use of abstract symbols (i.e. the letters T, I, F, or their refined indexed letters Tj, Ik, Fl) in neutrosophics.
In the first chapter we extend the dialectical triad thesis-antithesis-synthesis (dynamics of A and antiA, to get a synthesis) to the neutrosophic tetrad thesis-antithesis-neutrothesis-neutrosynthesis (dynamics of A, antiA, and neutA, in order to get a neutrosynthesis).
In the second chapter we introduce the neutrosophic system and neutrosophic dynamic system. A neutrosophic system is a quasi- or –classical system, in the sense that the neutrosophic …

In this book authors for the first time introduce the notion of special type of topological spaces using the interval [0, n). They are very different from the usual topological spaces. Algebraic structure using the interval [0, n) have been systemically dealt by the authors. Now using those algebraic structures in this book authors introduce the notion of special type of topological spaces. Using the super subset interval semigroup special type of super interval topological spaces are built. Several interesting results in this direction are obtained. Next six types of topological spaces using subset interval pseudo ring semiring of type …

In this book authors study the properties of finite real quaternion ring which was introduced in [2000]. Here a complete study of these finite quaternion rings are made. Also polynomial quaternion rings are defined, they happen to behave in a very different way. In the first place the fundamental theorem of algebra, “a nth degree polynomial has n and only n roots”, n is untrue in case of polynomial in polynomial quaternion rings in general. Further the very concept of derivative and integrals of these polynomials are untrue. Finally interval pseudo quaternion rings also behave in an erratic way. Not …

Since the world is full of indeterminacy, the Neutrosophics found their place into contemporary research. We now introduce for the first time the notions of Neutrosophic Crisp Sets and Neutrosophic Topology on Crisp Sets. We develop the 2012 notion of Neutrosophic Topological Spaces and give many practical examples. Neutrosophic Science means development and applications of Neutrosophic Logic, Set, Measure, Integral, Probability etc., and their applications in any field. It is possible to define the neutrosophic measure and consequently the neutrosophic integral and neutrosophic probability in many ways, because there are various types of indeterminacies, depending on the problem we need …

Study of MOD planes happens to a very recent one. Authors have studied several properties of MOD real planes Rn(m); 2 ≤ m ≤ ∞. In fact unlike the real plane R × R which is unique MOD real planes are infinite in number. Likewise MOD complex planes Cn(m); 2 ≤ m ≤ ∞, are infinitely many. The MOD neutrosophic planes RnI(m); 2 ≤ m ≤ ∞ are infinite in number where as we have only one neutrosophic plane R(I) = 〈R ∪ I〉 = {a + bI | I2 = I; a, b ∈ R}. Further three other new …

In this book the notion of MOD functions are defined on MOD planes. This new concept of MOD functions behaves in a very different way. Even very simple functions like y = nx has several zeros in MOD planes where as they are nice single line graphs with only (0, 0) as the only zero. Further polynomials in MOD planes do not in general follows the usual or classical laws of differentiation or integration. Even finding roots of MOD polynomials happens to be very difficult as they do not follow the fundamental theorem of algebra, viz a nth degree polynomial …

In this book authors answer the question proposed by Florentin Smarandache “Does there exist neutrosophic numbers which are such that they take values differently and behave differently from I; the indeterminate?”. We have constructed a class of natural neutrosophic numbers m 0I , m xI , m yI , m zI where m 0I × m 0I = m 0I , m xI × m xI = m xI and m yI × m yI = m yI and m yI × m xI = m 0I and m zI × m zI = m 0I .
