การเปรียบเทียบอัตราการยึดติดของวัสดุเคลือบหลุมร่องฟันชนิดขุ่นระหว่างวัสดุนวัตกรรมไทยกับวัสดุนำเข้าบนฟันกรามแท้ซี่ที่หนึ่ง: การศึกษาแบบมีกลุ่มควบคุมที่มีการจัดกลุ่มด้วยวิธีสุ่ม, ดลหทัย สิทธิพงษ์พร

การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเปรียบเทียบอัตราการยึดติดทางคลินิกของวัสดุเคลือบหลุมร่องฟันเรซินระหว่างวัสดุชนิดขุ่นแอลเอเอส (LAS-opaque) กับวัสดุคลินโปร™ (Clinpro™) การศึกษาทางคลินิกครั้งนี้ออกแบบการทดลองแบบสุ่มเปรียบเทียบภายในบุคคลเดียวกันและอยู่ในขากรรไกรเดียวกัน โดยทำการศึกษาในเด็กจำนวน 56 คน อายุ 6-9 ปี ในฟันกรามแท้ซี่ที่หนึ่งจำนวน 86 คู่ฟัน โดยสุ่มให้ฟันข้างหนึ่งเคลือบด้วยวัสดุชนิดขุ่นแอลเอเอสและอีกข้างหนึ่งเคลือบด้วยวัสดุคลินโปร™ ติดตามอัตราการยึดติดของวัสดุที่ระยะเวลา 6 และ 12 เดือน จำแนกการยึดติดเป็น 3 ลักษณะ ได้แก่ การยึดติดอยู่ทั้งหมด การยึดติดบางส่วน และการหลุดทั้งหมด เปรียบเทียบอัตราการยึดติดของวัสดุทั้งสองด้วยสถิติแม็กนีมาร์ (McNemar test) โดยกำหนดนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ 0.05 ผลการศึกษาพบว่าอัตราการยึดติดบริเวณด้านบดเคี้ยวของวัสดุทั้งสองชนิดไม่แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p > 0.05) ที่ระยะเวลา 6 และ 12 เดือน โดยวัสดุเคลือบหลุมร่องฟันชนิดขุ่นแอลเอเอสมีอัตราการยึดติดอยู่ทั้งหมดเท่ากับร้อยละ 75.6 และ 75.9 ที่ระยะเวลา 6 และ 12 เดือน ตามลำดับ ส่วนวัสดุคลินโปร™ มีอัตราการยึดติดเท่ากับร้อยละ 86.6 และ 77.2 ที่ระยะเวลา 6 และ 12 เดือน ตามลำดับ สรุปผลการศึกษาอัตราการยึดติดของวัสดุเคลือบหลุมร่องฟันชนิดขุ่นแอลเอเอสและวัสดุคลินโปรมีอัตราการยึดติดไม่แตกต่างกันที่ระยะเวลา 6 และ 12 เดือน

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy of a pain scale with Emoji images in comparison to the commonly used Wong-Baker FACES® pain scale. Methods: Healthy, English-speaking patients aged 4-17 presenting to the VCU Pediatric Dental clinic and the operating room and presenting to the MCV Pediatric Emergency Room were asked to rate their pain using the Wong-Baker FACES® and Emoji scales. Purpose: Compare the efficacy of two benzodiazepines (diazepam or midazolam) in combination with meperidine and hydroxyzine for pediatric dental sedation. Methods: A randomized, double blind observation study of behaviors and outcomes related to two sedation groups. Frankl and Houpt behavior scores were recorded at three time points: injection time, initiation of treatment and at the end of treatment. Postoperative phone call surveys were conducted within eight hours of discharge to assess sleep, activity, and behavior. Purpose: Evaluate behavior assessment and agreement among dentist, guardian, and child. Evaluate child behavior by appointment type.

Methods: Patients recruited from the pediatric dental department at Virginia Commonwealth University for this convenience sample. Inclusion criteria: patients presenting for clinical exams and/or restorative treatment without the use of advanced behavior guidance between August 29, 2018, and March 7, 2019; ages 4-12-years-old; and scheduled with a single clinician. Appointments were stratified by difficulty. Behavior was assessed by dentist and caregiver using the Frankl Scale. จุดประสงค์ของการวิจัยนี้เพื่อหาค่าปกติของเนื้อเยื่ออ่อนรูปหน้าด้านข้างในเด็กไทยในช่วงอายุ 7-10 ปี จากภาพถ่ายกะโหลกศีรษะด้านข้างในกลุ่มตัวอย่าง 83 คน อายุเฉลี่ย 9.97±0.78 ปี เป็นเพศชาย 43 คน และเพศหญิง 40 คน โดยกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่เลือกจะต้องมี (1) ฟันกรามแท้ซี่ที่ 1 และฟันตัดซี่กลางแท้ขึ้นครบแล้วทุกซี่ (2) ไม่มีฟันหายตั้งแต่กำเนิดและไม่มีการสูญเสียฟันก่อนกำหนด (3) การสบฟันกรามแท้ซี่ที่ 1 แบบประเภทที่ 1 ตามเกณฑ์ของ Angle (Angle’s classification I) และมีระยะเหลื่อมของฟันในแนวดิ่งและแนวระนาบปกติ (4) การเรียงตัวของฟันปกติ หรือมีฟันบิดซ้อนเกหรือมีช่องว่างได้ไม่เกิน 3 มิลลิเมตร (5) ไม่เคยได้รับการรักษาทางทันตกรรมจัดฟันมาก่อน ผลการศึกษาค่าเฉลี่ยเซฟาโลเมทริกในเด็กไทยที่ได้มีความแตกต่างจากการศึกษาอื่นที่เคยทำในผู้ใหญ่ไทยหรือทำในเด็กต่างประเทศ ค่าเฉลี่ยที่ได้จากการศึกษานี้สามารถใช้เป็นเกณฑ์ในการวิเคราะห์และวินิจฉัย การวางแผนการรักษา และการรักษาผู้ป่วยที่เป็นเด็กไทยในการรักษาทางทันตกรรมจัดฟัน

วัตถุประสงค์: เพื่อเปรียบเทียบความสำเร็จทางคลินิกและภาพรังสีของการรักษาเนื้อเยื่อในโดยอ้อมในฟันกรามน้ำนมล่างระหว่างคลอร์เฮกซิดีนกลูโคเนต และแคลเซียมไฮดรอกไซด์ วิธีการศึกษา: ฟันกรามน้ำนมล่างผุลึกจำนวน 63 ซี่ จากเด็กอายุ 3-8 ปี จำนวน 38 คน ได้รับการคัดเข้างานวิจัย ฟันทุกซี่ได้รับการวินิจฉัยว่ามีเนื้อเยื่อในโพรงฟันปกติหรือมีการอักเสบชนิดผันกลับได้ และจากภาพรังสีพบรอยผุลึกถึง 1 ใน 3 ของเนื้อฟันชั้นใน โดยได้รับการแบ่งกลุ่มแบบสุ่มเป็น 2 กลุ่ม เพื่อรักษาเนื้อเยื่อในโดยอ้อมด้วยคลอร์เฮกซิดีนกลูโคเนตจำนวน 31 ซี่ และแคลเซียมไฮดรอกไซด์จำนวน 32 ซี่ ฟันทุกซี่ได้รับการบูรณะด้วยครอบฟันเหล็กไร้สนิม และติดตามผลทางคลินิกและภาพรังสีที่ระยะเวลา 6 เดือนหลังรักษา ผลการศึกษา: ฟันกรามน้ำนมล่างผุจำนวน 57 ซี่ จากเด็กจำนวน 32 คน ได้รับการตรวจติดตามผลทางคลินิกและภาพรังสีที่ระยะเวลา 6 เดือน พบว่ากลุ่มที่รักษาเนื้อเยื่อในโดยอ้อมด้วยคลอร์เฮกซิดีนกลูโคเนต และแคลเซียมไฮดรอกไซด์ ให้ผลสำเร็จในการรักษาทางคลินิกและภาพรังสีเท่ากับร้อยละ 88.89 และ 86.67 ตามลำดับ โดยไม่พบความแตกต่างอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติระหว่างกลุ่ม สรุป: ผลสำเร็จในการรักษาเนื้อเยื่อในโดยอ้อมด้วยคลอร์เฮกซิดีนกลูโคเนตให้ผลไม่แตกต่างกับแคลเซียมไฮดรอกไซด์

The oral microbiome may be affected by patient medications, disease conditions and systemic disorders. Selenomonas noxia is an anaerobic, motile, non spore-forming, gram-negative rod that has been repeatedly associated with periodontal disease and other disorders, including obesity. Based upon the paucity of evidence regarding oral prevalence, the objective of was to evaluate S. noxia prevalence by sampling saliva from the oral cavity to screen for this pathogen. Using an existing saliva repository, DNA was isolated and screened using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). Cerebral palsy (CP) is a common developmental neurological disorder affecting about 2-3 children out of 1,000. CP is the result of infant brain damage or abnormal development resulting in impaired muscle control, coordination, tone, reflex, posture, and balance. These patients are unable to control motor movements of their muscles of mastication and facial expression, causing excessive drooling, clenching, bruxism, and other oral health-related issues. Background: Dental caries is a common chronic disease among children and adults alike, posing a substantial health burden. Caries is affected by multiple genetic and environmental factors, and prior studies have found that a substantial proportion of caries susceptibility is genetically inherited.

Methods: To identify such genetic factors, we conducted a genome-wide linkage scan in 464 extended families with 2616 individuals from Iowa, Pennsylvania and West Virginia for three dental caries phenotypes: (1) PRIM: dichotomized as zero versus one or more affected primary teeth, (2) QTOT1: age-adjusted quantitative caries measure for both primary and permanent dentitions including pre-cavitated lesions, and …
