Nanotechnology is a branch of science focusing on the manipulation of materials measured on the nanoscale (size = 1–100 nm). Recent advances in the field of nanodentistry have resulted in the development of alternative treatment plans for common dental problems, bringing about a paradigm shift in dentistry. Nanorobots, also known as “nanites” or “nanomachines,” are theoretical microscopic devices that may be used for the diagnosis and treatment of oral health problems. This thesis examines the effectiveness of an active learning approach in improving oral health literacy and attitude about science among at-risk students in the age range of third to sixth grades. This is done by designing and implementing a novel Oral Health Outreach module and video. Active learning components include engaging PowerPoint, oral hygiene discussion and demonstration, and finally a biofilm simulation, which utilizes glow-in-the-dark paint, dentoform models, and black lights that allow students to visualize the importance of plaque removal. Dentoalveolar ankylosis is the union between the tooth root and the dentoalveolar bone. Clinically, the affected tooth is unsuccessful to erupt, exhibits an infraocclusal position within the dentoalveolar arch, elicits a metallic sound on percussion, and has reduced or absent mobility. Objective: This single case report illustrates the management of idiopathically ankylosed maxillary deciduous first molars. Case report: The patient was a 6-year-old female with maxillary deciduous first molars in infraocclusal position due to idiopathic ankylosis. The ankylosed deciduous teeth were monitored regularly. การคืนกลับของแร่ธาตุในรอยผุจำลองระยะเริ่มต้น ระหว่างการใช้ฟลูออไรด์เจลโดยการทาด้วยพู่กันและการใช้ฟลูออไรด์วาร์นิช, กีรติพร กีรติบำรุงพงศ์

จุดประสงค์: เพื่อทดสอบประสิทธิภาพของการใช้แอซิดูเลทเทตฟอสเฟตฟลูออไรด์เจลโดยการทาด้วยพู่กันต่อรอยผุจำลองบนชิ้นฟันน้ำนมเมื่อเปรียบเทียบการใช้ฟลูออไรด์วาร์นิช วิธีการวิจัย: การศึกษานี้เป็นการทดลองแบบไขว้ โดยใช้ฟันน้ำนม 50 ชิ้นมาสร้างรอยผุจำลอง และแบ่งเป็น 3 กลุ่มเพื่อทาสาร ได้แก่ (1) เจล หลอกที่ไม่มีฟลูออไรด์ ปริมาณ 0.4 มิลลิลิตร เป็นกลุ่มควบคุม (2) แอซิดูเลทเทตฟอสเฟตฟลูออไรด์เจล ความเข้มข้นร้อยละ 1.23 ปริมาณ 0.4 มิลลิลิตร ทาด้วยพู่กัน (3) ฟลูออไรด์วาร์นิช ความเข้มข้นร้อยละ 5 ปริมาณ 0.4 มิลลิลิตร ชิ้นฟันตัวอย่างจะถูกติดกับเครื่องมือถอดได้ในขากรรไกรล่างสำหรับอาสาสมัครทั้งหมด 25 คน เพื่อรับสารทั้ง 3 ชนิดตามลำดับการสุ่ม หลังจากใส่เครื่องมือเป็นเวลา 1 ชั่วโมงจึงทำการถอดเครื่องมือและนำชิ้นฟันไปผ่านกระบวนการจำลองการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาวะความเป็นกรดด่างในช่องปากเป็นเวลา 14 วัน นำค่าเฉลี่ยร้อยละการสูญเสียฟลูออเรสเซนต์เริ่มต้น (△F0) และหลังการทดลอง (△F1) ที่วัดผลโดยใช้เครื่องคิวแอลเอฟ-ดี มาวิเคราะห์ผลทางสถิติ ผลการศึกษา: กลุ่มชิ้นฟันที่ได้รับเจลหลอกมีค่า △F1 ลดลง แสดงให้เห็นว่ามีการสูญเสียแร่ธาตุเกิดขึ้น กลุ่มที่ได้รับแอซิดูเลทเลตฟอสเฟตฟลูอไรด์เจลและฟลูออไรด์วาร์นิชมีค่า △F1 เพิ่มขึ้น แสดงให้เห็นว่ามีการคืนกลับแร่ธาตุเกิดขึ้น เมื่อเปรียบเทียบค่าความแตกต่างระหว่าง △F0 และ △F1 พบว่า ฟลูออไรด์วาร์นิชสามารถคืนกลับแร่ธาตุในรอยผุจำลองได้มากกว่ากลุ่มที่ใช้แอซิดูเลทเทตฟอสเฟตฟลูออไรด์เจลและกลุ่มควบคุมอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ (p<0.0001) สรุป: การใช้ฟลูออไรด์วาร์นิช ความเข้มข้นร้อยละ 5 สามารถคืนกลับแร่ธาตุในรอยผุจำลองได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพมากกว่าการใช้แอซิดูเลทเทตฟอสเฟตฟลูออไรด์เจล ความเข้มข้นร้อยละ 1.23 โดยการทาด้วยพู่กัน

การศึกษานี้เป็นการศึกษาทางคลินิกแบบแบ่งส่วนช่องปากซึ่งมีการจัดกลุ่มด้วยวิธีสุ่มและมีกลุ่มควบคุม มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเปรียบเทียบการลุกลามของรอยผุด้านประชิดระยะแรกเริ่มในฟันหลังแท้ที่ระยะเวลา 6 เดือนภายหลังการทาฟลูออไรด์วาร์นิชและคาวิตี้วาร์นิช ในอาสาสมัครจำนวน 30 คนที่มีรอยผุด้านประชิดระยะแรกเริ่มที่ระดับความลึกไม่เกินรอยต่อเนื้อฟัน-เคลือบฟันอย่างน้อย 1 คู่ที่อยู่คนละจตุภาค ซึ่งไม่เป็นรูทางคลินิกและมีการดำเนินโรค อาสาสมัครได้รับการถ่ายภาพรังสีดิจิทัลชนิดกัดปีกที่ระยะเริ่มต้น รอยผุดังกล่าวได้รับการจัดกลุ่มโดยการสุ่มเพื่อทาฟลูออไรด์วาร์นิช หรือคาวิตี้วาร์นิช (กลุ่มควบคุม) อาสาสมัครได้รับการถ่ายภาพรังสีดิจิทัลชนิดกัดปีกอีกครั้งที่ระยะ 6 เดือน เพื่อติดตามการลุกลามของรอยผุ โดยใช้วิธีการวัดผล 2 วิธี ได้แก่ การวัดความหนาแน่นแร่ธาตุของรอยผุจากภาพรังสีซ้อนทับชนิดดิจิทัลระหว่างภาพรังสีที่ระยะเริ่มต้นกับที่ระยะ 6 เดือน และการวัดความลึกรอยผุโดยตรงจากภาพรังสีดิจิทัลชนิดกัดปีกที่ระยะเริ่มต้นและที่ระยะ 6 เดือนด้วยโปรแกรม Image-Pro Plus พบว่าค่าเฉลี่ยความหนาแน่นแร่ธาตุระหว่างรอยผุด้านประชิดระยะแรกเริ่มกลุ่มที่ได้รับการทาฟลูออไรด์วาร์นิช (125.38 ± 6.9) และคาวิตี้วาร์นิช (132.63 ± 8.59) มีความแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p=0.001) เมื่อใช้สถิติ paired-T test ตรงข้ามกับค่าเฉลี่ยผลต่างความลึกรอยผุกลุ่มที่ได้รับการทาฟลูออไรด์วาร์นิช (-0.0078 ± 0.13) และคาวิตี้วาร์นิช (-0.0227 ± 0.11) ที่ไม่พบว่ามีความแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p=0.525) เมื่อใช้สถิติ paired-T test ดังนั้นจึงยังไม่สามารถสรุปผลของฟลูออไรด์วาร์นิชต่อการลุกลามของรอยผุด้านประชิดระยะแรกเริ่มในฟันหลังแท้ได้ และควรมีการศึกษาเพิ่มเติมในระยะยาวต่อไป
