This fact sheet presents data on the number of federal funding awards granted to the five Mountain West states of Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah between 2021 and 2024. These awards include investments authorized under major federal legislation such as the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), CHIPS and Science Act, and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), among other programs tracked by Invest.gov. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) will see funding for these programs sunsetted (terminated as the above legislation expires).

BACKGROUND: It is unclear whether the current North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) trauma system will be effective in the setting of Large-Scale Combat Operations (LSCO). We sought to model the efficacy of the NATO trauma system in the setting of LSCO. We also intended to model novel scenarios that could better adapt the current system to LSCO.

METHODS: We developed a discrete-event simulation model for patients with combat musculoskeletal injuries treated within the standard NATO system. The primary outcome of the model was survival. The model's health states were characterized as stable, hypovolemia, sepsis, shock, or death. The model simulated …

As the number of older people at risk of food insecurity in the U.S. continues to rise, effective policy responses are critical. The U.S. Department of Agriculture measures food insecurity based on whether households had problems affording food during the last twelve months. Based on the current definition, in 2023 9.2% of households with adults ages 60 and older were food insecure. But there are many problems with the existing definition for accurately capturing food insecurity among older adults.

Based on the book, Food for Thought: Understanding Older Adults Food Insecurity, this brief summarizes those limitations, noting that existing measures do not account for barriers that are common among older adults, such as mobility, physical distance, and transportation barriers.

Despite widespread concern about teacher shortages, there is little evidence on when teaching positions are posted and how many people apply for them. Using detailed job-posting and application data on nearly 57,000 applicants from 19 traditional school districts and 24 charter organizations, we provide descriptive evidence on the timing of job postings, the supply of applicants, and the characteristics of applicants, emphasizing how each varies across organizations and between the district and charter sectors. We find that late hiring is less prevalent than prior single-district studies suggest—about 11% of openings are posted late—but varies widely across organizations. Applicant supply differs …

This study aims to inquire the Political Budget Cycle (PBC) by examining the relationship between the presence of an incumbent during the simultaneous district/city level elections in 2015, 2017, 2018, 2020 and village financial assistant. Using the village financial assistant data in 2013-2021, this study conducts a random effect model. The results showed that the existence of an incumbent is significantly correlated with an increase in village financial assistant in one or two years prior to election. Meanwhile, in the election year, there is no significant relationship between variables. The PBC took place in the years prior to election.

This study investigates how the enduring popularity and policy achievements of Jokowi shaped voter preferences in favor of Prabowo, effectively positioning the election as a referendum on political continuity. The Effects Of Input And Characteristic Factors On Contact Rate Achievement Among Puskesmas In Indonesia, Iqbal Andri Makarim, Pujiyanto Pujiyanto

The contact rate is the lowest-performing indicator in the Performance-Based Capitation Payment system initiated by BPJS Kesehatan. Analysis of the 2019 National Health Facility Research (Rifaskes) data showed that less than half of Puskesmas in Indonesia achieved the target. This cross-sectional study analyzed 5,384 Puskesmas from the 2019 Rifaskes to examine the effect of input and characteristic factors on achieving the contact rate. Independent variables included health worker ratios (doctors, nurses, midwives per 5,000 participants), completeness of essential medical equipment, communication facilities, P-Care application use, and Puskesmas characteristics. Multivariate logistic regression identified four significant factors: doctor ratio (OR=1.06; p<0.0001), midwife ratio (OR=1.01; p=0.033), completeness of essential medical equipment (OR=1.16; p=0.029), and BLUD-based financial management (OR=1.13; p=0.029). These factors explained only 2.6% of the variance (Nagelkerke R²=0.026), suggesting other unmeasured influences. Policy implications include equitable distribution of health personnel, targeted procurement of essential equipment, strengthening financial autonomy through BLUD, and optimizing P-Care data utilization to improve service accessibility and performance.

Hospital Management Information System (SIMRS/HMIS) is crucial in ensuring efficiency and quality in hospital services by integrating clinical and administrative functions. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of HMIS at Medan Adventist Hospital in 2025 using the Human-Organization-Technology Fit (HOT-Fit) framework. A descriptive design with total sampling was employed, involving 70 respondents comprising medical records staff, inpatient and outpatient registration staff, and ward officers. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire adapted from a validated instrument (validity 0.690–0.900; reliability 0.841–0.911) and analyzed using descriptive statistics. African Swine Fever (ASF) seriously threatens pig production systems, food security, and rural livelihoods across Southeast Asia. This study employs an analysis of secondary national data from Indonesia using a quantitative descriptive analysis approach, complemented by regional policy responses to ASF from 2019 to 2024. To contextualize regional findings, this study also integrates official statistics from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) covering provincial pork production trends (2021–2023), the number of ASF-affected pigs per province (2020–2024), and per capita pork consumption by district. Five elected School Board members, a School Superintendent, and local leaders in rural Hoxie, Arkansas, were people of strong beliefs who in 1955 desegregated their school district. In this article, I argue that a combination of moral leadership and pocketbook concerns drove these men to oppose outside forces intervening in Hoxie, Arkansas, and that by doing so these men created a precedence of using the federal courts to uphold integration.

This study examines the impact of intensity of household debt on domestic violence (DV) towards children in Indonesia. There is a positive relationship between the amount of household debt and the likelihood of domestic violence towards children based on literature review. This research uses a quantitative method with multinomial logistic regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that households with more than one household debt are correlated with an increased likelihood of both psychological and physical domestic violence towards children compared to the likelihood of no domestic violence, both before and after controlling variables added.

This paper examines the impact of key domestic and international regulations on US hazardous waste exports, focusing on shifts in export destinations and waste types from 2002 to 2023. Since 2005, OECD countries and US Trade Agreement Partners have become primary destinations for US hazardous waste, with significant surges after 2018 and a notable decline in 2022. An analysis of the regulatory landscape reveals that, while international frameworks such as the Basel Convention of 2021 have had a relatively limited impact on reducing US hazardous waste exports, domestic policies—particularly those in California—have more directly influenced export behaviors.
