The National Universities Commission, the supervisory body of all Universities in Nigeria assesses the universities for standards and quality assurance of programmes on regular basis. The paper examined how accreditations are carried out by the National Universities Commission and the accreditation roles of the university libraries were examined. The study also unveiled the challenges of accreditation in University Libraries which include late notification of forthcoming accreditation, financial constraint, out datedness of information resources, and understaff. Senior Citizens And Digital Information Access: The Obstruction Of Comforting Silence, Rodney C. Lawley

This study investigates the possibility of undetected access obstructions preventing senior citizens from using digital information maintained by Alabama public libraries. Research methods include a literature review, a survey of Alabama public library administrators, and a textual analysis of online public library programming guides from four urban areas within the state. The survey gauges the perceptions, experiences, and actions of library administrators pertaining to digital library accessibility for senior citizens. The textual analysis component measures significant outreach efforts by public libraries targeting senior citizen patrons. Arkansas Related Civil War Holdings At Public Institutions Of Higher Education In The State, David Sesser

An examination of a library collection using an existing comprehensive bibliography on a particular subject allows librarians to make collection development decisions. In this study, the collections of each public university in Arkansas is examined for Civil War related titles, compiled from two historiographical articles which appeared in the Arkansas Historical Quarterly. The results indicate that collections in the state contain a wide range of items included in the search. The data gathered in this project may help librarians at these institutions and others in the state determine what items need to be added to their respective collections in order …

I propose a method for tracking and assessing scientific progress using a prediction consensus algorithm designed for the purpose. The protocol obviates the need for centralized referees to generate scientific questions, gather predictions, and assess the accuracy or success of those predictions. It relies instead on crowd wisdom and a system of checks and balances for all tasks. It is intended to take the form of a web-based, searchable database. Open Access levels are now at a tipping point. According to Digital Science’s Dimensions for the year 2020, Open Access surpassed subscription publication globally for the first time (Hook, 2021). Similarly in Dec 2020, with Elsevier agreeing to deposit open references to Crossref (the last major publisher to do), over 90% of Crossref references are now open (Hutchin, 2021). Objectives: To explore how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected hiring and onboarding practices in academic libraries.

Methods: An embedded mixed-methods approach, utilizing grounded theory, was used to develop an online survey to identify changes that occurred in hiring and onboarding practices in academic libraries resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants were hiring managers (including human resources staff, library administration, search committee chairs, or library supervisors) in an academic library setting. Invitations to participate were sent to multiple academic library listservs and social media groups.

The Faculty OER Survey Toolkit is a collection of resources to help you with the process of planning and conducting a faculty survey about OER. The resources included in the toolkit are based on the author’s experience conducting a Faculty OER Needs Assessment survey at Gonzaga University in Spring 2022. All of the materials in the toolkit are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license.

The toolkit was created as part of the 2021-2022 SPARC Open Education Leadership Program. While originally intended to be a living resource, it is no longer being maintained.

Most traditional change management practices seek to mitigate risk. They focus on process and implementation over listening, compassion, and healing. By using human-centered change methodologies and approaches, we will explore ways to tailor change efforts in ways that honor the individuals and the organization. We will consider how to engage in a change that harnesses the strengths of the team, making space for voices to be heard.

This chapter presents a case study where a Health Sciences Librarian and an Exercise Physiology Professor at an R1 University transformed two library instruction sessions into one graded online assignment. Successful student outcomes proved the asynchronous online method worth continuing for future courses regardless of class format.

The typical instruction methods and experimental modifications made to accommodate remote learning demanded by the COVID-19 pandemic and online course sections will be presented in this chapter.
