The role of the library is vital in all types of education - traditional as well as distance mode. The purpose of this paper is to know the distance learner’s satisfaction with library resources, services and facilities in Kuvempu University Library. This study used questionnaire-based survey method to collect the data from the PG distance students of Kuvempu University. 1435 questionnaires were distributed, out of which 1435 duly filled in questionnaires were received back. Since 2013, a librarian at Minnesota State University, Mankato has collaborated with faculty and students in an upper division project-based engineering program. While having several years of experience in university libraries plus advanced degrees in history, the librarian had a limited background in science, engineering, and technology, and lacked a formal engineering degree. At first glance, this match may appear to be a recipe for failure. Per the plan, the capsule was opened at the 20 – year reunion, a few things were added, and it was then reopened again at the reunion five years later. In this invited talk, I survey the new emerging discovery tools mostly powered by open scholarly data, from new mega discovery indexes like Lens.org, Semantic Scholar to what I call literature review mapping tools (eg ResearchRabbit, Connected Papers, Litmaps) as well as “AI” power tools like Elicit.org and Scite.ai that use machine learning to enhance discovery in various ways. The Financial Crisis of 2008, also known as the Great Recession of 2008, marked a time of severe economic downturn in the United States and the global community. The magnitude of the crisis is often compared to that of the Great Depression. Oftentimes after a crisis, questions arise on whether accurate and relevant information was made available to the public in a timely manner because of the widespread consequences of failing to do so. The Financial Crisis of 2008 provides a unique opportunity to examine the communication of financial information to the public by evaluating information gaps in this process. …

Academic publishing processes are shaped by the ways in which scholars within the field review and evaluate the work of their peers. In an ideal world, these methods would simply promote the publication of the best forms of research without prejudice or subjectivity. In reality, issues such as Knobloch-Westerwick, Glynn, and Huge’s Matilda effect, Merton’s Matthew effect, Blank’s institution bias, and Robert’s and Verhoef’s gender bias shape the ways that scholarly inquiry are evaluated.

This article explores the affective reactions of 13 community college students engaged in an open pedagogy textbook creation project. The instructor and first author, a human development and family services faculty member and department chair at a community college in Oregon, received feedback from her students that the project impacted them differently than past learning experiences. Student engagement with research and the diverse personal experiences of their classmates fostered both personal challenges and growth. This article groups these experiences into themes and explores different theoretical lenses, including scaffolding (constructivism), transformative learning, threshold concepts and safe spaces/brave spaces. Archival literacy has become a popular mode of literacy in the last ten years, given that archival research is not the exclusive purview of historians. Given the amount of open collections and exhibits, the possibility of teaching archival literacy skills is more accessible than ever. Importantly, archival literacy asks us to critically read against the common narrative that archival objects are pure evidence and archivists are neutral agents. Our presentation describes the importance of digital archival literacy and provides examples of implementation in classes, ad hoc workshops, and community engagement.
