Assessing Of Iranian Medical English Journals Based On Journal Selection Criteria In Scopus, Shahram Sedghi, Somayeh Ghaffari

Journals which have been indexed in universal citation databases can introduce their countries’ scientific productions to the world’ scientific communications. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate Iranian Medical English Journals (IMEJ) based on Scopus’ journal selection criteria. This is a descriptive quantitative study which deals with the last issues of 52 numbers of IMEJ which have not been indexed in Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed. Data is collected using a researcher-developed checklist whose validity was confirmed by faculty members. Microsoft Office Excel was used to analyze data. This presentation will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the University of Nebraska at Omaha Open Access Fund through analysis of the disciplinary diversity of applicants, eligibility guidelines, funding limit and the benefits of publishing Open Access. Furthermore, it will seek to discover ways to increase participation in the Open Access Fund and by extension, the institutional repository, through comparison with other universities’ OA funds.

Educational psychologists have long studied and advocated for using learning techniques that help students achieve their learning outcomes in a variety of different contexts. These strategies include elaborative interrogation and self-explanation, which bring the processes of comprehension and synthesis to the explicit attention of the learner. A similar case can be made for the use of strategies such as self-explanations, analogies, and elaborative interrogation prompts that enhance learning by facilitating the various stages of the research process. Over the last two decades academic libraries in the United States have experienced a paradigm shift from book-centered spaces to learning-centered spaces as they work to provide services and resources in the new ways that users consume information. This article discusses the results of a survey conducted in early 2017 of South Carolina academic libraries to study this larger trend moving to learning-centered spaces. Forty two academic library administrators responded and shared how they are re-purposing their library spaces as they work to improve student and faculty user experiences.

Brief presentation focused on the First-Gen Stories project at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln -- an oral history project that encourages first generation Nebraska to create videos about their perspectives and experiences as the first in their family to attend college. This project serves as a proactive way to help connect first generation students with campus and campus resources, and contributes towards building a sense of place between students of different backgrounds. This lightening round talk will include some of the statistics for first generation students, the strategy used for launching the project, and similar initiatives at other institutions.

A Comparative Analysis Of The Use Of Github By Librarians And Non-Librarians, Mark E. Eaton

Objective – GitHub is a popular tool that allows software developers to collaborate and share their code on the web. Librarians have adopted GitHub to support their own work, sharing code in support of their libraries. This paper asks: How does librarians’ use of GitHub compare to that of other users?

Methods – To retrieve quantitative data on GitHub users, we queried the GitHub APIs (application programming interfaces). By assembling data on librarians’ use of GitHub, as well as on a comparison group, we provided preliminary comparisons of these two samples. We analyzed and visualized this data across a number …
