Compact Hardware Implementation Of A Sha-3 Core For Wireless Body Sensor Networks, Yi Yang, Debiao He, Neeraj Kumar, Sherali Zeadally
Information Science Faculty Publications
One of the most important Internet of Things applications is the wireless body sensor network (WBSN), which can provide universal health care, disease prevention, and control. Due to large deployments of small scale smart sensors in WBSNs, security, and privacy guarantees (e.g., security and safety-critical data, sensitive private information) are becoming a challenging issue because these sensor nodes communicate using an open channel, i.e., Internet. We implement data integrity (to resist against malicious tampering) using the secure hash algorithm 3 (SHA-3) when smart sensors in WBSNs communicate with each other using the Internet. Due to the limited resources (i.e., storage, …

IL is important due to its potentiality to optimize the use of available information and to transform the novice into self-directed lifelong learners. It has gained ground and much attention in every field of knowledge which is assured by rapid increase in related literature. Since, the IL skills require subject-oriented approach not only to develop standard, guide, framework, tools, etc. but also to evaluate, assess, and impact of IL skills. Thus, measuring of the subject areas of IL publications and it co-occurrence is imperative and the objective of the present study. This paper analysed Sickle cell anaemia literature on Nigeria listed in PubMed to understand the research performance of medical researchers on sickle cell anaemia literature on Nigeria. Data covering the period of 2006-2016 were collected from the PubMed, a citation database developed by the National Centre for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).The search strategy used was ((sickle cell anaemia) OR (sickle cell anemia)) AND Nigeria AND (("2006/01/01"[PDat] : "2016/12/31"[PDat])), bearing in mind variance in spelling (anaemia and anemia), which retrieved 326 sickle cell literature on Nigeria between 2006 and 2016. Article productivity increased between 2006 and 2010. However, there was a drastic …

The Internet has become a vital tool in teaching, research and learning process in Nigeria higher institutions and across the whole world. Research has indicated that most users tend to begin their information searches via the internet, using various search engine such as Google, Wikipedia etc. rather than using WebPAC or Card catalogue in the library. For such users, a visit to their library is unnecessary and a waste of precious time. This has led to a great challenge in the academic libraries. This study investigate the Availability and Use of Internet Base Library Services among Lecturers in Selected …

Analysis Of Customer Satisfaction With Library Services At The Sokoine National Agricultural Library (Snal) In Morogoro Region In Tanzania, George Bea, Dr.Albogast K. Musabila, Daniel Deogratus
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
This paper analyses customer satisfaction with services of the Sokoine National Agricultural Library (SNAL) using a mixed method approach. Both qualitative and quantitative data were collected using questionnaire and interviews, which were supplemented by document analysis. A total of 72 respondents were selected using simple random and purposive sampling procedures. Data were analysed descriptively and were presented in tables, pie charts and percentages. The expectancy-disconfirmation theory with Four-Level Zone of Tolerance (ZoT) developed by Oliver (1980) guided data analysis in this study.
Findings indicate that leaning materials and services provided by SNAL are relatively sufficient due to satisfaction level of …

A Documentary-Material Approach For Performance, Marc Kosciejew
A Documentary-Material Approach For Performance, Marc Kosciejew
Proceedings from the Document Academy
This article begins a conceptual discussion about the relationship between documentation, performance, and materiality. It argues that a documentary approach helps show the roles played by documents and practices with them in performance’s materialization and constitution. It presents the start of a documentary approach for analyzing performance by discussing some ways in which documentation helps provide a material basis for performance beyond its enactment whilst simultaneously materializing and constituting it in and for other diverse contexts.

Documenting Performance And Contemporary Data Models: Positioning Performance Within Frbr And Lrm, Deborah Lee
Proceedings from the Document Academy
Documents relating to the performing arts have proven a complex and somewhat unresolved part of the data models which fuel modern bibliographic cataloguing standards. The model of bibliographic data known as FRBR (Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records), which is now superseded by LRM (IFLA Library Reference Model), underpin cataloguing standards, yet do not easily deal with materials relating to performance. The article introduces FRBR and LRM, and highlights existing literature which explores these models as related to performance documentation. An exposition of an important paper by Miller and Le Boeuf from 2005 is given, and their model forms the basis …

Mixed Methods Of Assessment: Measures Of Enhancing Library Services In Academia, Nilda Alexandra Sanchez-Rodriguez
Publications and Research
Collection assessment is an essential aspect of library collection development, especially for public institutions currently affected by financial budget cuts. Collection managers working with little to no budget have the task of establishing unconventional methods of selecting most relevant materials. This paper aims to demonstrate the correlation between a syllabi analysis, faculty survey and circulation statistics as a practical measure to enhance and expand the architecture library services at the City College of New York and in academia in general. This study uses mixed use assessment strategies to evaluate a library collection. The scope of the study supports combining collection-based …
Understanding The Role Of Institutional Repository In Digital Preservation In Academic Libraries: A Review Of Literature, O. P. Saini
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
One of the leading objectives of the libraries is to provide the latest and timely information to its clientele and keep them updated with the new arrivals related to their subject areas. However, a limited storage capacity of libraries is throwing a challenge before librarians from the beginning of libraries. The latest developments in the libraries for information management, preservation, and dissemination involve a high rate of computer technologies. Institutional Repository (IR) is a new breed which has the potential to store any amount of information in little space and preserve it for a long-term perspective. Therefore, many of the …

A Reckless Verisimilitude: The Archive In James Ellroy’S Fiction, Bradley J. Wiles
disClosure: A Journal of Social Theory
The archive as both plot element and narrative presentation factors significantly into the work of James Ellroy’s novels in the L.A. Quartet and USA Underworld Trilogy series. This article examines the important role of the archive as a source of information and evidence that Ellroy’s characters utilize in their attempts at either maintaining or attacking the status quo. Through these novels, Ellroy conveys the potential power archives wield over the trajectory of history and our understanding of it by demonstrating how the historical record is often shaped in favor of the powerful. Yet even if the archive is a manifestation …

Queer Lives In Archives: Intelligibility And Forms Of Memory, Gina Watts
disClosure: A Journal of Social Theory
Exploring queer archives through a variety of texts and case studies, this paper seeks to understand three primary themes: the departure of traditional archival theory in queer archives, the absence of records and what they might mean for queer history, and a conception of queer time and space contributed to by archival records. Together, these suggest a specific form of intelligibility and memory available to people identifying as queer through the existence of these communal archives, one which reaffirms a history that some were determined to bury and which challenges and expands typical understandings of activism in the archival profession. …

Background: Although many libraries have offered 3D printing as a service or available technology, there is a lack of information on course-integrated programs for 3D printing in which the library played a primary role. Therefore, librarians at the Touro College School of Health Sciences began exploring 3D printing for inclusion in the occupational and physical therapy curriculum. Case Presentation: The goal of this project was to educate occupational and physical therapy students and faculty about the potential applications of 3D printing in health care and provide hands-on experience, while increasing collaboration between librarians and faculty. Students’ tasks included designing and …
