Citation Analysis: Availability Of Student Research Poster Citations, Sharon Holderman, Stuart Gaetjens

The Southeastern Librarian

This citation analysis examines the availability of 1313 citations from student research posters across multiple disciplines at a mid-sized university. The study focuses on whether the cited materials are available via the library or freely online. Results indicate only one-fifth of citations were from library proprietary sources while two-thirds were freely available online. Resource age and discipline also influence availability. This study informs collection development decisions and instruction services and helps define the library’s role of providing information and facilitating information access.

This presentation is going to introduce an innovative reference service model – Tele-Reference, which was developed and implemented by the University of Central Florida (UCF) Libraries throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. A comparative study was performed based on scientific metrics for the year 2019 for the top 100 open access journals (OAJ) extracted from the web of science. The considered bibliometric indicators are Journal Impact Factor (JIF), Eugene Factor Score (ES), Scimago Journal Ranking (SJR), Source Normalized Impact per Paper (SNIP), Cite Score (CS), Google Scholar (GS), and H5 index. This study shows that journals have different ranks compared with their metrics of the various scientific indicators. The study’s main purpose was to map Cerebral Palsy (CP), a bibliometric analysis of the highly cited research output, 1990-2020. The web of science database was used to retrieve all records related to CP. The Impact Factor of the reviews has been taken from the 2019 issue of Clarivate Analytics’ Journal Citation Report (JCR), named IF2019. The Hirsch Index (h-Index) has been compiled from the most active writers and organizations database. The renewal of archival theory since the 1990s has drawn upon the abstract and functional qualities of records, while their material aspects have been more or less excluded from theoretical discourse. Even if an emerging interest in materiality could be noticed, its impact and conceptual implications still need to be elucidated. This essay will explore the concept of materiality and how it has been dealt with in archival discourse, and discuss in what sense records could be regarded as material. Medline Search Retrieval Issues: A Longitudinal Query Analysis Of Five Vendor Platforms, C. Sean Burns, Tyler Nix, Robert M. Shapiro Ii, Jeffrey T. Huber

This study compared the results of data collected from a longitudinal query analysis of the MEDLINE database hosted on multiple platforms that include PubMed, EBSCOHost, Ovid, ProQuest, and Web of Science. The goal was to identify variations among the search results on the platforms after controlling for search query syntax. We devised twenty-nine cases of search queries comprised of five semantically equivalent queries per case to search against the five MEDLINE database platforms. We ran our queries monthly for a year and collected search result count data to observe changes. We found that search results varied considerably depending on MEDLINE …

Carpenter Library quickly expanded its social media content in order to better reach students, faculty, and staff, all of whom suddenly found themselves working and learning remotely. The Carpenter Library’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts (@unflibrary) quickly became the face of the library, whereas in the past they had merely supported outreach, promotion, and advocacy. This program presents the result of an IMLS-funded, mixed-methods study that investigated the scholarly communication programming and staffing priorities among M1 (Master's Colleges and Universities – Larger programs) libraries. Using a complex research life cycle to frame discussion, twenty librarians from M1 institutions participated in focus groups and provided structured information on their libraries' scholarly communication program, development, and staffing. The paper examines the bibliographic data of 1436 documents published by the University of North Bengal and retrieves the data for a span of ten years, which was indexed in the Scopus database from 2011 to 2020 on various parameters.
