Washing Feet : A Revolutionary Principle Of Leadership, Josh Hayden Jan 1999

Washing Feet : A Revolutionary Principle Of Leadership, Josh Hayden

Honors Theses

The teachings of Jesus were a leadership paradox. He said that to live one must die; to be first one must be last, to move up, one must move down, and to become rich, one must become poor. If we look at people, problems, situations and life itself through the eyes of this astounding Galilean carpenter, there are unlimited things we can learn about leadership. In the process, we also learn about ourselves, our motivations, our weaknesses and strengths, and our ability or inability to command a following that will have a lasting impact. Each of these areas are critical …

Birth Order And Emergent Leadership : Does One's Birth Order Influence Emergence As A Leader In A Leaderless Group?, Leanna May Bowman

Honors Theses

This study was initiated as an attempt to understand how personalities affect emergence in a group as the leader. What makes other group members accept one person as the leader over another? Because birth order has been discussed as an influential factor in the development of ones personality, this variable was chosen in order to see if perhaps leader emergence from a group is influenced by the personality, which, in turn, has been shaped by something else.

This study proved that firstborns and firstborn by genders emerge from a leaderless group to guide and direct the other members, and shape …

As such, adolescents will be increasingly involved in the care of Alzheimer's victims. This study sought to examine the experiences of these individuals. Specifically, what is it like for an adolescent to provide care for a grandparent afflicted with Alzheimer's disease? …

Racial And Ethnic Studies, Political Science And Mid-Wifery, Vine Deloria Jr., David E. Wilkins

Jepson School of Leadership Studies articles, book chapters and other publications

One of the major fallacies of Western civilization, according to Alfred North Whitehead,' was the propensity of Western thinkers to assume that ideas generated within their intellectual landscape were indicative of reality itself. Although some phases of Western science, notably physics and philosophy, have transcended their parochial origins, aspects of the old medieval synthesis still remain in the Western worldview. The gradual fragmentation of the old categories of natural history and theology into the isolated sciences and disciplines of today has produced a myriad of separate bodies of knowledge complete with their professional priesthoods and has allowed considerable slippage in …

A Leadership Case Study: Application Of Koestenbaum's Diamond Leadership Theory, Ann E. Paulsen

Dissertations

Infant mortality continues to be a significant national public health problem. African-American infant mortality in the United States remains as high as or higher than those of some developing countries. Studies repeatedly indicate that the underlying causes of infant mortality are social, economic, environmental, cultural, political, racial and historical, though not in equal measure. Children born at a socioeconomic disadvantage have less chance of survival than have children of any particular race. To address the disproportionate gap …

This shift may be prompting school-based administrators to shift school governance practices to reflect these market values. This shift, occurring in Alberta (Canada), is founded in government policy that articulates the option of educational choice for parents. Presently the government policy promotes these market values in education by providing full funding to public, separate, and charter schools, and partial …
