Purpose: This study aimed to compare long-term patient-reported outcomes in bowel and urinary domains between intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT) for localized prostate cancer.

Methods and materials: Patients with clinical T1-T2 prostate cancer receiving IMRT or IMPT at a tertiary cancer center from 2015-2018 were analyzed to determine the changes in the prospectively collected bowel function (BF), urinary irritative/obstructive symptoms (UO), and urinary incontinence (UI) domains of EPIC-26. Sexual assault is happening on university and college campuses. This study aims to explore the gap in care relative to how on-campus healthcare providers respond to college students following a disclosure of sexual assault and the access to resources provided to them. A sample of seven providers from two major college campuses in Stockton, CA responded to a questionnaire about formal disclosures of sexual assault. Each participant self-reported their knowledge of trauma-informed care (TIC) and what they understand about their campus resources for survivors of sexual assault. A balance of commensal and pathogenic bacteria in the oral cavity is essential for optimal oral and systemic health. Our previous studies demonstrate that E- liquid aerosol ± flavors (particularly cinnamon) are detrimental to several strains of oral commensal streptococcal bacteria. However, very little information is available concerning the effects of E-liquid aerosols on oral pathogens. Streptococcus thoraltensis is a gram-positive coccus first described by Devriese et al. in 1997, who isolated it from the vaginal fluids and intestines of pigs [1]. This species has subsequently been isolated from rabbit feces [2], the human oral cavity [3], placenta [4], and in only five reported cases, the human blood [5]. To our knowledge, only one other case of native valve bacterial endocarditis due to this bacterium has ever been reported [5], as well as a single case of prosthetic valve bacterial endocarditis [6]. A 54-year-old male presented after a suicide attempt, suffering severe cardiac and extracardiac injuries from firing a nail gun into both temples (Figure 1A) and his chest. Imaging showed six 5cm nails embedded in his heart: two in the left ventricle, two in the right ventricle, one traversing the ascending aorta into the left atrium, and one entering the right ventricle from the left parasternal chest wall (Figure 1B, C, D). These injuries resulted in hemorrhagic pericardial effusion with tamponade, acute aortic regurgitation, mitral valve/pulmonary artery perforations, and a ventricular septal defect.

Brucellosis, a zoonotic bacterial infection caused by Brucella species, is typically acquired through contact with infected livestock or consumption of unpasteurized dairy products. It can manifest with various systemic symptoms but is rarely associated with cardiac complications, particularly conduction disturbances such as heart block. When brucellosis does affect the heart, it may result in endocarditis, myocarditis, or, more infrequently, conduction abnormalities. This report describes an unusual case of brucellosis-induced complete heart block in an elderly woman who recently returned from a farm in Colombia, a region where brucellosis is endemic.

The use of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) in recent years has increasingly emerged as a second-line treatment in the management of extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC) compared to conventional chemotherapy alone.

The use of combined ICI therapy by inhibiting two distinct pathways in patients with ES-SCLC has been evaluated in clinical trials. Such repairs can include those of the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) of the wrist that necessitates a reappraisal of its morphometry with special emphasis on the relationship between its articular disc (AD) and surrounding tissues. BACKGROUND: Acute interstitial pneumonia (AIP), also known as Hamman-Rich syndrome, is a rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease. In addition to being challenging to diagnose, AIP is also difficult to treat. The mortality rate of AIP is greater than 70% due to the disease's rapid progression. Furthermore, survivors are likely to develop chronic interstitial lung disease as a sequela. Treatment primarily focuses on supportive care, which consists of oxygenation through mechanical ventilation, administration of broad-spectrum antibiotics, and the use of corticosteroids. Approximately 1.6 million people in the U.S. have lower limb amputations, which is expected to double by 2050 (Wong et al.). Socio-economic factors: income, education, rural residency & race, impact amputation risk (Okesina et al.), with Black Americans 70% are more likely to undergo major lower limb amputations than white Americans, even after adjusting for care access & comorbidities (Feinglass et al., Holman et al., Regenbogen et al.). Within 5 years, up to 50% of first-time amputees require another amputation (Dilingham et al., Glaser et al.) & those with comorbidities face a 77% five-year mortality rate (Fortington et al.).

Globally, complications of preterm birth are the leading cause of under-5-mortality. Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is a common and life-threatening complication among preterm infants. Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is a relatively simple and effective intervention that is recommended for RDS treatment. However, appropriate infrastructure and processes are required to ensure that it is used safely, effectively and sustainably. BACKGROUND: Although most patients with cutaneous melanoma (CM) will have a negative sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB), up to 20%-30% of these patients will recur. The 31-gene expression profile (31-GEP) test has been prospectively validated to identify patients at low (Class 1A), intermediate (Class 1B/2A), and high (Class 2B) risk of SLN positivity and recurrence.
