To examine, among people with type 2 diabetes (T2D), whether cardiovascular disease (CVD) phenotypes and cardiovascular medications are associated with any fracture as the primary outcome and major osteoporotic fracture (MOF) as a secondary outcome. Nationwide registry-based matched case–control study in Denmark (2013–2021) among people with T2D. Cases were individuals with T2D who sustained an incident fracture (n = 12,390), and controls were fracture-free individuals with T2D matched 1:3 by age, sex, T2D onset date, and weighted Charlson Comorbidity Index (n = 37,170). Background: Uveal melanoma (UM) is a highly aggressive malignancy with a metastatic risk that depends on the molecular subclass. This subclass can be determined through molecular characterization of tumor-derived tissue. With eye-sparing treatments, tumor tissue is rarely available for molecular testing. We hypothesized that minimal invasive biomarkers such as methylated cell-free DNA (cfDNA) or circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) can be used for prognosis and monitoring of patients. Introduction Nitrate and nitrite, present in ground and drinking water, as well as foods, may contribute to bladder cancer through the formation of carcinogenic N -nitrosamines. However, risk likely depends on both the source and endogenous nitrosating factors. Methods Among participants of the Danish Diet, Cancer, and Health Cohort (N = 54,610) with no history of cancer, source-specific nitrate and nitrite intakes (drinking water, plant sources, naturally occurring animal sources, and additive-permitted meat sources) were estimated from national water monitoring data and food frequency questionnaires using food databases. This study characterized the probability and timing of cancer-related death, noncancer death, and transplantation among patients with an incident cancer diagnosis after dialysis initiation. Prostate cancer is most common malignancy among men in the United States. As men are now living longer with prostate cancer due to advances in treatment, there exists a growing need to manage the long-term physical and psychological sequelae of this disease, which range from genitourinary dysfunction to cardiometabolic and psychosocial consequences. Over half of men with prostate cancer report unmet needs in symptom management. Dietary strategies are increasingly recognized as important modulators of breast cancer outcomes, acting through effects on metabolic regulation, weight management, hormone signalling, immune function, and the gut microbiome. However, breast cancer heterogeneity and inter-individual variability mean that generic dietary guidelines may not fully capture patient needs. Precision nutrition offers the opportunity to align dietary interventions with tumour subtype, treatment context, and host biology, potentially enhancing therapeutic response and survivorship in patients diagnosed with breast cancer. While physical activity can reduce the risk of several cancers, the role of vigorous physical activity (VPA) in kidney cancer prevention remains unclear. We examined associations between physical activity intensity and kidney cancer incidence in a large Australian cohort. Methods: Data were obtained from 267,357 adults aged ≥ 45 years in the New South Wales 45 and Up Study. Background: Osteosarcopenia—the coexistence of osteopenia/osteoporosis and sarcopenia—is associated with numerous adverse health outcomes, but its association with intrinsic capacity (IC) remains unknown. We aimed to explore the associations of osteosarcopenia with IC and all-cause mortality in older adults. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional analysis of IC and a prospective analysis of all-cause mortality in 1142 participants from the Toledo Study for Healthy Aging (75.1 ± 6.0 years, 53.1% women). Objective: To estimate the levels of supportive care needs among adults with cancer using the Supportive Care Needs Survey–Short Form 34 (SCNS-SF34) and to examine demographic, clinical, and treatment-related determinants. Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted (CRD42024604977). Studies reporting SCNS-SF34 scores in adults with cancer were included. Searches were performed across six different databases (November 2024; updated August 2025). Random-effects meta-analyses were undertaken to estimate the pooled mean scores across the five SCNS-SF34 domains and total score. NRAS mutations occur in 10%–30% of cutaneous melanomas and are associated with high tumor mutational burden. Mutant NRAS signaling drives aberrant cell growth and proliferation, in part, through activation of the RAF–MEK-ERK1/2 kinase pathway; however, targeted therapies to this pathway have limited effectiveness in patients with NRAS mutant melanoma. The role of other targetable signaling pathways in NRAS mutant melanoma is poorly characterized. Purpose: To systematically review and analyze the effects of photobiomodulation on oral mucositis, xerostomia, salivary flow rates, oral pain, and quality of life in patients with head and neck cancer. Methods: A systematic search of six databases was conducted up to April 2025. Eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs) examined the effects of photobiomodulation on the specified outcomes in patients with head and neck cancer. Pooled estimates (risk ratio [RR] and standardized mean difference [SMD]) were calculated using a three-level mixed-effects meta-analysis. Real-world evidence for wearable noninvasive glucose monitoring (NIGM) remains limited. To evaluate the functional equivalence of a wearable NIGM device and explore its utility for T2DM and prediabetes screening. In this multicenter study, 12-h daytime glucose profiles obtained by a flexible reverse iontophoresis-based electrochemical sensor were compared with capillary glucose using functional equivalence. Subgroup analyses were conducted. Screening models of T2DM and prediabetes were developed using elastic net and Logistic regression. Yet, clinical guidelines on its preservation are limited, and local practices remain unclear. Objectives: To explore current practices, perceptions and challenges related to residual kidney function preservation among renal clinicians. Design: Descriptive cross-sectional survey. Purpose: The present study aimed to gain a deeper understanding of how oncology healthcare professionals’ (HCPs) manage sleep disturbances. Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 oncology HCPs (medical oncologists, oncology nurse practitioners, clinical nurse consultants) working in metropolitan Perth, Western Australia. Reflexive thematic analysis was used to understand oncology HCPs’ perspectives on treating sleep disturbances, explore challenges and barriers to their management, as well as opportunities for improvement. Acral lentiginous melanoma (ALM) with pleural metastases is rare and under-recognised. We report an 86-year-old woman with progressive dyspnoea and pleuritic chest pain. 18 months ago, she was diagnosed with stage IIC ALM of the right heel, and was treated with wide local excision, but she declined adjuvant therapy. Imaging demonstrated a large left pleural effusion with diffuse pleural thickening, pulmonary mass, and hepatic metastases. Brownish pleural fluid, along with thoracoscopic identification of multiple pigmented nodules, led to a histologically confirmed diagnosis. Purpose: Childhood cancer survivors (CCS) are at risk of long-term skeletal muscle deficits following intensive therapies during critical periods of growth. This review aimed to synthesize approaches for assessing muscle quantity, quality, and function in CCS and to quantify deficits relative to healthy peers. Background: Neoadjuvant immunotherapy produces event-free survival advantage over adjuvant therapy for patients with surgically resectable macroscopic stage IIIB/C/D melanoma. Men on active surveillance (AS), with prostate cancer, are very interested in dietary strategies that could improve their symptoms and help prevent progression of their disease. In this real-world trial involving 208 men, intake of phytochemical-rich food capsules helped slow prostate-specific antigen (PSA) progression significantly, and improved urinary symptoms and erectile function. What was novel about this study was that men randomised to take an additional blend of five Lactobacillus probiotics had a further three-fold slowing of PSA progression as well as reduction of inflammation. Despite the nexus between cardiovascular health and frailty, the relevance of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin I (hs-cTnI), a biomarker of myocardial injury, to frailty is poorly understood. We examined whether hs-cTnI concentrations were associated with frailty in a well-characterized cohort of older women. A total of 1151 community-dwelling women from the Perth Longitudinal Study of Aging Women (mean age ± SD = 75.2 ± 2.7 years) were included. This study investigated immune cell distributions, cell-specific immune markers, and selected biomarker targets in pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) and extrapulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB) using multiparametric flow cytometry (MFC). Objective: The aim of this research is to identify germline genetic variants that predispose to uveal melanoma (UM) using data from nine studies involving 5839 individuals with UM (3853 novel) and 349,863 healthy controls. Methods: Five novel UM genome-wide association studies (GWAS) were performed and included for meta-analysis with four previously published UM GWAS. A fixed-effects inverse-variance weighted (IVW) meta-analysis was performed by combining data from these nine UM case-control cohorts. Purpose. Uveal melanoma (UM) is primarily treated with eye-sparing radiotherapy, leaving limited tumor tissue for molecular analysis. Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) may offer a minimally invasive alternative for genomic tumor profiling. This pilot study evaluated the feasibility of a multi-marker CTC capture approach in UM patients at diagnosis, during fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (fSRT), and at metastatic progression.
