Nasal polyps are soft, droplet-like lumps that develop on the inner lining of the nose or sinuses due to long-term inflammation in those areas. Nasal polyps are common lesions, however, the occurrence of osseous metaplasia within them is relatively rare. Besides, without a CT scan, relying solely on plain X-ray films to assist clinical diagnosis can easily be misleading due to the uncertainty of the lesion’s location. In this report, our treatment steps were described as medical image analysis, removing the lesion, confirming the pathological result, and regularly follow-up. Laughter counteracts the "fight or flight" response by releasing dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins, which reduce stress hormones and muscle tension. It also triggers oxytocin, fostering trust between patients, caregivers, and staff. The author encourages practitioners to use lightheartedness, such as "dad jokes," to mitigate the anxiety often associated with procedures like restorations or extractions. Objective

To evaluate the impact of an educational intervention on paediatric dental term recognition and vocabulary knowledge among low-income caregivers of young children.

Methods

A randomized two-group pretest-posttest trial was used to analyze the impact of an educational intervention on caregivers' word recognition and vocabulary knowledge of paediatric dental terms. The study included 60 pregnant women and caregivers with children enrolled in a Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) in the Southeastern United States. [Introduction] Dental hygienists promote oral health and provide preventive services to patients throughout their lifespan. The Commission on Dental Accreditation, Dental Hygiene Standards emphasize that graduates must be competent in providing dental hygiene care for all patient populations, including children.¹ In fact, promoting pediatric oral health begins prior to birth with the expectant mother and/or caregiver. This article introduces the American College of Dentists’ core standards for leadership in oral healthcare, grounded in well-established ethical principles and in response to ever-increasing expectations for patient-first care. It is suggested that the new standards must be consistently upheld to maintain patient trust and professional credibility. Effective leadership, in contrast to management, improves patient engagement and outcomes, team performance, and resilience. The article calls for more leadership training in dentistry, beginning in dental schools, and highlights the need for effective leadership in oral healthcare to strengthen the profession’s standing and status.

The life story of another Dr. Suess has remained relatively unknown. Walter Suess was an extremely talented dentist and musician in Austria. Brilliant and courageous, he became a victim of a morally depraved authoritarian regime and the absence of biomedical ethics during the reign of the Third Reich. The serendipitous discovery of the true story of Dr. Seuss and European dentists from this era offers lessons in bioethics relevant to today.

Dentistry’s evolution as a profession reflects both scientific progress and enduring tensions between commercial and service-oriented models of care. Despite long-standing commitments to ethical education, dental training continues to privilege technical mastery over professional identity formation, leaving some future practitioners underprepared for the ethical and relational complexities of clinical practice. This study evaluated the remineralization potential of a ceramic–polyelectrolyte system, based on a novel combination of hydroxyapatite nanoparticles (HAp NPs) and a hyaluronic acid (HY) matrix, for dental enamel, a tissue that remains challenging to repair in clinical dentistry. Nano-Hydroxyapatite (nanoHAp) powder was synthesized and characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), and zeta potential analysis to confirm their crystalline structure, functional groups, morphology, particle size distribution, and colloidal stability. Background. Tooth retention is related to overall health and quality of life. Thus, it is important to understand factors associated with tooth loss. The objective of this cross-sectional study was to evaluate associations between systemic and oral factors with tooth loss in a retrospective study of periodontal maintenance patients.

Methods. Periodontal maintenance patients seen in both 2013 and 2019 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry were included.
