Pubertal development in beef heifers is a transient period that has many contributing factors. Previously in our lab, progesterone (P4) concentrations collected from heifers at weaning (Oct) to breeding (May) were used to identify four distinct pubertal groups: Typical, Early, Start-Stop, and Non-Cycling. There is limited research on heifers and the impacts of whole blood cell populations, particularly WBCs, during pubertal development; however, girls with differing puberty onset displayed altered concentrations of hematocrit, white blood cells (WBC), and hemoglobin concentrations. Woody breast (WB) condition causes significant economic losses to the global poultry industry, and the lack of an objective and fast tool to identify this myopathy is a contributing factor. The aim of this study was to determine if there are broiler carcass conformation changes that can be used to identify WB characteristics using image analysis. Images of 8-wk-old male broiler carcasses (n = 544) of high breast-yielding strains were captured before evisceration, which were processed and analyzed using ImageJ software. Soil erosion can present a major threat to agriculture due to loss of soil, nutrients, and organic carbon. Therefore, soil erosion modelling is one of the steps used to plan suitable soil protection measures and detect erosion hotspots. Identifying genetic loci associated with yield stability has helped plant breeders and geneticists begin to understand the role and influence of genotype by environment (GxE) interactions in soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] productivity, as well as other crops. Quantifying a genotype’s range of performance across testing locations has been developed over decades with dozens of methodologies available. This includes directly modeling GxE interactions as part of an overall model for yield, as well as methods which generate overall yield “stability” values from multi-environment trial data. Freshly harvested mature-green ‘Sensation’ mangoes were dipped for 10 min in 2 mM salicylic acid (SA) and 0.2 mM melatonin (MT) alone or in combination and stored at 23±1°C and 60–70%RH. SA or MT delayed ripening measured as higher green peel color (lower a* values), firmness, titratable acidity (TA) and membrane stability index (MSI) and lower weight loss, total soluble solids (TSS), TSS/TA ratio and hydrolytic enzyme activities (polygalacturonase, xylanase and α-amylase) compared to that of untreated fruit. There has been growing consumer and human medical profession concern about the use of “Shared Use/Medically Important” antimicrobials in food-animal production. The concern partially stems from the concern that livestock and poultry fed antimicrobials can develop resistant bacteria which can then be passed on to humans primarily via consumed meat and poultry products. However, there is limited data on soil’s behavior/changes under these management practices as compared to corn and soybean cultivation systems. Therefore, the objective of this study was to determine soil characteristics including soil organic matter, bulk density, water holding capacity, macroporosity, and water at field capacity in hemp and grain cropping systems. The article suggests a new approach to the monetary assessment of the damage caused to the environment by the processed waste of the transport sector. The proposed assessment method is based on the waste collection factor, all types of irretrievable losses and the volume of necessary compensatory release of materials. Based on a survey among vehicle owners, it was found that the solid waste collection rate is about 50 %, while the waste collection rate for operating fluids does not exceed 32 %. The main reasons for the absence of a seeder for mechanized sowing of non-loose seeds of fodder plants in deserts are analyzed in the article. The author has developed a technology for sowing non-loose seeds (saxaul and cherkez), which prevents clogging, crushing and breakage in the seeder hopper, and provides for uniform and stable sowing at a set rate and shallow depth over the entire field area without reducing the biological germination. The first one is based on the method of random search with an absolute bias, an algorithm for optimizing the process of cultivating microorganisms with continuous regeneration of the flow in one cultivator. The main objective of this study is to determine the status and level of crop diversification among farms in the country through an empirical analysis using panel data collected in 2009-2017. In doing so, we performed the Stata-16 software using the Simpson Diversification Index model in determining the diversification index. According to the results, the highest diversification indicators were found for Samarkand, Fergana and Tashkent regions, respectively, and accounted for 0.74, 0.74 and 0.76, respectively. India’s Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGs) is the largest public works program in the world with an objective to ensure rural livelihood security by generating employment through infrastructure projects. This thesis is comprised of three essays investigating the MGNREGs’ impact on rural communities and the labor market. The first essay examined the targeting accuracy of the program. I simultaneously controlled for the self-selection bias and endogeneity bias between poverty and program participation using an extended probit model. Using data from National Sample Survey (NSS) 2014, I find that households closer to the poverty line are more likely …

In view of the current tea charcoal roasting methods, there are problems such as high labor intensity, low efficiency, and difficult control of the carbon roasting temperature, resulting in poor tea quality. An intelligent tea charcoal roasting machine using an adaptive fuzzy PID control system is designed. The control system undergoes fuzzification and other processingafter two inputs to achieve real-time changes of three output parameters, so as to meet the design requirements of baking temperature. Differential scanning calorimetry, laser particle size distribution instrument and other instrumental analysis methods were used to study the stability of sheep liver protein, as well as effects of NaCl content (0.0%, 1.8%, 3.6%) on sheep liver protein. Emulsifying & foaming properties, molecular weight distribution and surface hydrophobicity were evaluated. Results showed that with the increase of NaCl content, the surface hydrophobicity of water soluble liver proteins (WSLP) and salt soluble liver proteins (SSLP) also increased; the denaturation temperature of SSLP was 87.9 ℃, higher than that of WSLP (74.4 ℃), showing that SSLP had better thermal stability; and the particle …

In this study, four yeast strains in the Luzhou-flavor liquor brewing workshop were isolated and purified from the air. The colony physiological, biochemical and molecular identifica-tion were performed to obtain two kinds of yeast, R. mucilaginosa and M. guilliermondii. The growth characteristics of the two kinds of yeasts were studied, and the optimal growth time were found to be 29 to 30 h. The tolerance of M. guilliermondii to ethanol, temperature and acid is higher than that of R. mucilaginosa. A strain of lactic acid bacteria with high antibacterial activity was isolated from home-made sauerkraut in Inner Mongolia, and its growth characteristics were determined. The strain was identified as Lactobacillus plantarum by colony morphology observation, physiological and biochemical identification and 16S rDNA sequence analysis. This strain had good antibacterial effects on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli with the diameters of inhibition zone of 15.5 and 14.5 mm, respectively.
