The complex winepress exposed at Horbat Siv offers a good opportunity for a reevaluation of the wine production process. In this article, a new approach is discussed concerning the function of the various components of the installation. The hypothesis presented here considers two main facts pertaining to wine production: (1) all winepresses operated in accordance with the gravitation principle; (2) wine is extracted naturally, i.e., biochemically.

The grape (Vitis species) and wine industry has major global economic impacts but faces issues with sustainability. The use of glass bottles for wine production is environmentally unsustainable due to energy-intensive manufacturing and poor recycling rates. However, wine consumers tend to associate glass bottles with higher quality over alternative wine packaging materials such as aluminum, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and flexible bags/pouches. Since wine price and packaging influence consumers perception of wine quality, wine producers need to understand consumers to maximize profits. Fer is a French variety known to produce concentrated wines of good colour with a medium to full body. Wine aroma and flavour are typified by dark fruits and spice with soft tannins.

Fer grapevines were evaluated for fruit and wine production in Manjimup from 2007 to 2010.

Fer was found to be late ripening when grown here although it showed good disease resistance.

The grape and wine industry in Iowa is based on non-Vitis vinifera grapes, which are not well-known by consumers and come with their own set of challenges, such as promotion. The Wine Wednesdays workshop focused on promoting awareness and knowledge of local wines and grapes. Results indicate gain in self-perceived knowledge and intention of behavior changes toward local grapes and wines. These workshops also participate in the development of relationships among wineries, which is overall beneficial for the local grape and wine industry.

Grapevines (Vitis species) are grown worldwide to produce table grapes, juice grapes, dried grapes, and wine with the United States as one of the world’s largest wine and grape producers. Though not a large contributor to the U.S. grape and wine industry, Arkansas’ industry plays an important role in the state’s agritourism and economy. Most grapes grown in Arkansas’ warm climate include native species, such as muscadines (V. rotundifolia) and hybrids (crosses of Vitis species). Descriptive sensory analysis is essential to understanding how differing varietals, viticultural techniques, enological techniques, vintage, regions, etc. impact the sensory characteristics found in wines. These studies analyzed the sensory impacts of vine age, whole cluster and stem addition influences, the frequency of cap management regimes, and selected fermentation variables, on 2019 Zinfandel, 2020 Syrah, 2020 Tannat, 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2021 Graciano wines respectively, from the Central Coast of California, USA. Aiming at the problem of wine identification, the odor information of 7 kinds of wine was collected through the electronic nose, the LightGBM algorithm was used to learn the odor characteristics of the wine, and the TPE hyperparameter optimization algorithm is used to adaptively optimize the HyperGB parameter of the LightGBM algorithm. Verification is an indicator to evaluate the performance of the model. The experimental results showed that the discrimination model established by LightGBM had a 96.62% accuracy rate for wine samples, which was superior to traditional support vector machines, random forests, and neural networks.
