This study aimed to explore the use of grape byproducts such as red grape pomace and elderberry, in the form of bioactive powders to obtain three-month old cheese assortments. Grape pomace powder (GPP) and elderberry fruit powder (EFP) contain antioxidant components such as phenols, anthocyanins and flavonoids, and compounds characterized by high bioactivity. This study investigated not only the potential of incorporating different percentages (1%, 2%, and 3%) of GPP and EFP in cheese, to increase its nutritional value, but also the changes that occur during the 2 months of ripening. Mango, a typical respiratory climacteric fruit, is susceptible to a short shelf life and quality deterioration during postharvest ripening. Although low temperature can prolong the storage time significantly, its effects on fruit quality have yet to be elucidated. Through a combination of transcriptome and metabolome analyses, this study aimed to elucidate the effects of low-temperature storage on the biosynthesis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), flavonoids, sucrose, and the degradation of organic acids in mango. Tomato is a well-recognized and extensively cultivated crop on a global scale. However, the development of tomato varieties is hindered by adverse environments, limited genetic diversity, and low rates of seed setting. Cordia myxa is found in tropical regions of Pakistan, where it is commonly known as lasura. This study aimed to assess the preliminary results of phytochemical analysis and the pharmacological activities of C. myxa. After pulverizing the fresh plant, extracts were prepared using different solvents, including aqueous, methanol, ethanol, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane extracts. These extracts were examined for total phenolic contents using standard biochemical tests and high performance liquid chromatography with a photodiode array. Recently, some edible plants and fruits have undergone extensive research to identify potential health effects arising from their valuable nutritional and bioactive properties. The present study aims to investigate the phenolic compounds of nine edible plants and fruits throughout the gastrointestinal digestion model by comparing their total content and antioxidant activity. Of the species studied, Eremurus spectabilis and Gundelia tournefortii had the lowest total phenolic content, whereas Prunus armeniaca showed the highest value of 1026 ± 164 mg GAE/100 g. Accurately forecasting food availability is a critical task. One approach involves utilizing remote sensing data, such as satellite images, to observe the health of crop fields using different Vegetation Indices (VI). The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) provides a sound metric to track the “greenness” of crops over time. In this research, we develop statistical models that capture the dynamics of NDVI time series data to make better predictions of its future values. Improving the quality of irrigated pastures can increase the profitability of ruminant production systems. Increasing pasture plant biodiversity is beneficial for ruminants, pollinators, and soil health, but it is challenging to manage weed incursion in seeded mixed-species pastures. This study assessed the weed incursion that resulted when forage legumes or grasses were seeded as binary mixtures with one of four non-legume forbs. Defoliation occurred at 6-week intervals as either mowing or mob grazing. Accurate and timely prediction of agricultural droughts is fundamental to the management of ecosystems, preservation of biodiversity, and environmental sustainability. It helps to reduce environmental exploitation, promotes eco-friendly irrigation techniques, and tackles climate change efficiently. Its social implications include food safety and financial stability through continuous rural employment. Drought prediction guarantees social progress and sustainability by ensuring zero hunger/poverty and effective water management. An important question in restoration ecology is whether restored ecological regimes are more vulnerable to transitions back to a degraded state. In woody-invaded grasslands, high-intensity fire can collapse woody plant communities and induce a shift back to a grass-dominated regime. Yet, legacies from woody-dominated regimes often persist and it remains unclear whether restored regimes are at heightened vulnerability to reinvasion. Each set of cards also creates a judges help sheet for the motions with proper verbiage and the Standard Descriptive Characteristics as listed in Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised (12th edition).
The workbook uses randomization to create set cards from a list of over 300 possible main motions from a variety of internet sources. The 2024 list of eligible motions for both events was used for the permissible motions.

Crop diversification is associated with ecosystem services that can improve yield. We integrated tomatoes and kales within the cereal push-pull technology (PPT), to form the vegetable integrated push-pull (VIPP), and explored the influence of these cropping systems on pest and disease management, and subsequent yield of the vegetables. Aphids and diamondback moths (DBM), the major pests in kale production, together with grasshoppers were consistently lower in the VIPP plots. Low incidences and damage by leafminers, whiteflies and fruitflies on tomatoes were observed in VIPP plots compared to plots of tomato intercropped with maize (control). Coconut oil (CNO) is often characterized as an “artery-clogging fat” because it is a predominantly saturated fat that ostensibly raises total cholesterol (TChol) and LDL cholesterol (LDL-C). Whereas previous analyses assessed CNO based on the relative effects on lipid parameters against other fats and oils, this analysis focuses on the effects of CNO itself. Here, we review the literature on CNO and analyze 984 lipid profile data sets from 26 CNO studies conducted over the past 40 years. An assemblage of 76 malacological remains was retrieved from the French School in Yafo. It includes 11 species of local Mediterranean seashells and land snails, one indo-pacific bivalve, one bivalve from the Nile River and two fragments of freshwater bivalves. A cross made of mother of pearl was found in a soil accumulation of the late Ottoman period. The shells were used as construction material and as objects of aesthetic or symbolic value, possibly amulets.

A small assemblage of 158 identified animal bones was retrieved from Crusader- and late Ottoman-period contexts at the French School. The bone samples from both periods consisted mainly of cattle and caprines, as well as some pig, donkey, horse and chicken bones. The relative frequency of pig bones in the Ottoman period might point to a religious tolerance toward the consumption of equid and wild boar. This may attest to a poverty-stricken Muslim population, or to the presence of immigrants from the Maghrebi Islam.

The ceramic finds from the Ottoman-period layer at the French School consist of local and imported wares. The local coarse wares include Black Gaza Ware and vessels made of brown and pink ware. The imported glazed ware includes earthenware vessels, mainly kitchen wares, such as bowls and basins, as well as cooking pots. Also included among the imported vessels are fine table wares, dinner ware and breakfast sets, mostly manufactured in European factories. The ceramic material was dated to the end of the nineteenth century CE.

The excavation on Ben Gamli’el Street yielded 30 malacological finds, including 20 specimens from clear stratigraphic contexts of the Hellenistic and Byzantine periods. The assemblage comprises 28 Mediterranean shells and two Nile River freshwater bivalves. The local seashells were mainly used as simple ornaments and in construction material, while the two imported freshwater bivalves probably attest to trade connections between Yafo and Egypt.

The French School excavation encompassed three areas (A, B, C): Area A yielded a substantial volume of Crusader-period pottery, perhaps alluding to the existence of a Crusader-period moat, and late Ottoman-period building remains and a water reservoir; in Area B, a Crusader-period pedestal, as well as a late Ottoman-period well, channels and wall foundations, were exposed; and in Area C were found the remains of Crusader-period pedestals, late Ottoman-period wall remains and two pit graves of uncertain date. The remains from the late Ottoman period point to Yafo’s orderly spatial organization during the nineteenth century.

The excavation on Ben Gamli’el Street yielded a small assemblage of 40 animal bones retrieved from the ashy fill of a large Hellenistic-period ash pit (Stratum III). The bones represent farm animals, mostly goats, cattle and pigs, possibly indicating the economy of the rural hinterland that supported the urban settlement of Yafo. The presence of the dog burial and the high occurrence of pig bones probably attests to a non-Jewish community.

Twelve fragments of glass vessels were found on Ben Gamli’el Street, including two exceptional objects, which were found in a fill of a large Hellenistic-period pit: a double-faced pendant of the “Janus heads” type and a poorly preserved seal(?).

Seven coins were retrieved from Hellenistic Stratum III on Ben Gamli’el Street, four were identified and dated to the third–first centuries BCE. These coins circulated at a time when the port city of Yafo was part of the Seleucid and Ptolemaic Empires, which operated a trade network along the Palestinian–Phoenician coast.

Some 47 stamped and unstamped amphora fragments were retrieved from Hellenistic Stratum III on Ben Gamli’el Street. The amphorae date between the last third of the fifth century and the third quarter of the second century BCE. The amphorae originated in a wide variety of production centers, mostly from the islands of the southeastern Aegean and the western coast of Anatolia, but also from the western Mediterranean, Italy, the southern coast of Anatolia and Cyprus.

A large pottery assemblage dating from the late Iron Age to the Byzantine period was uncovered on Ben Gamli’el Street. Most of the pottery vessels and oil lamps date to the Persian and Hellenistic periods, including a terracotta figurine of the Hellenistic period. Among the finds are many imported vessels from various workshops, reflecting the role of Yafo as one of the major port cities in the region during the Persian and Hellenistic periods.

Two areas (A, B) were excavated on Ben Gamli’el Street, yielding building remains and a waste pit from the Hellenistic period (fourth–second centuries BCE), a large quantity of Byzantine-period pottery (fourth–seventh centuries CE) and two late Ottoman-period walls (late nineteenth–early twentieth centuries CE). During the Hellenistic period, which appears to have spanned both the Ptolemaic and Seleucid periods, the city seems to have been settled by a pagan population. A small faunal assemblage dating to the Byzantine–Early Islamic and Ottoman periods was uncovered in the Magen Avraham Compound. The animal bones were deposited in an area that used to be part of the agricultural periphery of the town and consist mainly of caprine, cattle and equids. The presence of a relatively high number of equid remains suggests that the assemblage represents the disposal of whole animal carcasses outside the city.
