Some commentators have predicted that the disruptive effects of the COVID-19 pandemic will transform the landscape of higher education in the United States. For example, Scott Galloway, Professor of Marketing at NYU Stern School of Business, predicts that most U.S. colleges and universities will either “go out of business or become a shadow of themselves.” Professor Galloway argues that the few elite universities that survive will enter into corporate partnerships with Big Tech companies such as Google, Apple, and Meta. The mothers received workshops and booklets consisting of information, quick and healthy recipes, and learned how to prepare home-made meals with a low budget. The purpose of the current study is to explore the factors that influence sexual health decisions of female Latina immigrants with low socioeconomic status in an urban area. We aimed to evaluate the possible preventive steps to lower their risk of contracting STDs. The need for this study was highlighted by research findings that suggest that health disparities among Hispanic immigrants have had a significant impact on their poor quality of life due to lack of proper access to medical care and misdiagnosis due to differences in risk factors and manifestations of the disease. Mental health stigma is complex because it manifests itself differently according to the cultural context in which it is experienced. Lgbtq Community College Students’ Decreased Sense Of Belonging, Joseph Falco, Michael Sparrow Ed.D.

LGBTQ students experience a lower sense of belonging at community colleges. The correlation between campus and classroom climate and academic success, campus involvement, identity, level of outness, and well-being for LGBTQ students contributes to their decreased sense of belonging. Non-LGBTQ-affirming and non-inclusive community college campuses and classrooms lead to feelings of fear, invisibility, lack of validation, mental health challenges, and poor academic performance for LGBTQ students. An extensive literature review was conducted to determine the root causes around the decreased sense of belonging for LGBTQ students enrolled at community colleges.  Three themes emerged that explained this decreased sense of belonging: …

Higher education has yet to address the deeper causes of inequities in student participation rates in study abroad programs across student demographics. Factors contributing to inequities include disparities in access to social and cultural capital and neglect of identity-related experiences of racially minoritized and first-generation, historically excluded students. This qualitative study examined faculty and staff experiences in the development of study abroad programs and explored their considerations for the needs of historically excluded students. This research aims to explore the experiences of Latina mothers residing in San Antonio, Texas, using testimonios as a form of data collection; asynchronous interviews were completed to obtain the participants' experiences as they journeyed through their respective doctoral programs. Through this qualitative study, the research provided an in-depth analysis to understand the relationship between motherhood, academia, and culture in relation to advanced degrees. Traditionally, international service-learning (ISL) programs are created and led by host groups, which frequently overlook the international communities’ learning process and perspectives and the long-term impact of service missions on the community. Fundamentally, ISL is meant to address community needs. With the principal focus being on enriching students’ learning, community voice is often eclipsed. The purpose of this phenomenological study was to uncover and understand international graduate students’ experiences with microaggressions that stem from native speaker fallacy; microaggressions are the subtle discriminatory behaviors executed toward marginalized groups and native speaker fallacy is the false belief that only some “native” English speakers are effective teachers and users of the language. Put simply, this research aimed at unveiling the subtle language-based discriminations that international graduate students experience in their day-to-day lives in U.S. educational settings. Student Camera Use In Synchronous Classrooms: A Two-Study Exploration Of Ctml’S Embodiment Principle, Zac D. Johnson, Kevin C. Knoster

Two studies were conducted to ascertain whether or not the embodiment principle of the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning would apply to student’s use of cameras in synchronous online instruction. Results from a cross sectional dataset indicate that students who utilize their cameras report more positive outcomes than students who do not utilize their cameras. Results from a quasi-experimental design indicate that students do not report any significant differences between experiencing classes where their peers keep their cameras-on or when their peers keep their cameras-off.

This dissertation explores the impact of the classroom environment on undergraduate engineering students by integrating three manuscripts using the process-person-context-time (PPCT) model within Bioecological Systems Theory. Each manuscript focused on students’ sense of belonging, motivation, and academic confidence. The study confirms prior research suggesting a link between students' perceptions of the environment and their sense of belonging, motivation, and academic confidence. The findings highlight the complex nature of student and classroom environment relationships throughout their college experience. This mixed-methods sequential explanatory study seeks to explain the relationship between community engagement and citizenship competence among tertiary-level students at Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Dasmariñas, a public institution of higher learning in Dasmariñas in Cavite, Philippines. Specifically, it seeks to (1) determine students’ level of engagement in various community development activities and their levels of citizenship competence; as well as (2) discuss and analyze the relationship between these two variables. Quantitative surveys were conducted on 331 students, followed by semi- structured interviews and focus group discussions with 30 purposely selected participants to gather follow-up data during the qualitative phases.

Authors have noted the increasing importance of avatars in Higher Education, as more teaching is conducted virtually, drawing upon gaming conventions. However, it is also recognised that little is known about how students make use of avatars (especially over an extended period) and the subsequent impact on learning experiences. The onus of preparing skilled employees for the modern workforce is largely placed on institutions of higher education. However, recent surveys consistently show a skills gap between what employers’ desire and what graduates possess. This review engages this discussion in the context of measuring and assessing 21^st century skills. We begin by succinctly reviewing literature pertaining to the skills gap, including what types of skills are commonly referenced, before moving to examine literature indicating the relations between current 21st century skills and job-related outcomes.
