Large language models such as ChatGPT provide efficient access to a wealth of information. However, there are significant questions regarding the depth and quality of knowledge in any one domain. This paper focuses specifically on the information systems (IS) field and assesses ChatGPT’s knowledge. To analyze the extent and quality of information systems knowledge derived from queries to ChatGPT, we used over 3,000 queries from a broad range of exam and quiz questions. These queries were obtained from university courses and professional information system certification exams. Practicing speech-language pathologists and graduate students identify a need for counseling training but feel unprepared to implement counseling in everyday practice. Within speech-language pathology, there is a dearth of evidence about best teaching practices for counseling. The current investigation examines the collaborative counseling program, which involves hands-on training with authentic clients with communication disorders. Thirty-six students across two cohorts participated in this study. Students composed individual reflections after each collaborative counseling session. Each cohort also participated in oral debriefings after each session. Reflections and debriefing transcripts were analyzed qualitatively through open and axial coding via micro and macro analyses. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Code of Ethics (2023) requires all practitioners to uphold the welfare of others without discrimination. Graduate programs in communication sciences and disorders, therefore, must guide future clinicians to apply theoretical knowledge to clinical practice equitably and inclusively. This grounded theory study investigated how an instructor in a graduate communication sciences and disorders (CSD) class used case-based learning (CBL) to fill the theory-practice gap and guide students to think equitably and inclusively for future complex cases. Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders

Simulated learning experiences (SLEs) are becoming increasingly popular in communication sciences and disorders (CSD) training programs. This pilot study examines the relative effectiveness of delivering a SLE via standard computer or using virtual reality headsets for a more immersive learning experience. Seventy undergraduate CSD students were randomly assigned to complete the same SLE using one of these two modes of delivery to explore the technology’s effect on learning outcomes and self-confidence. Although no statistically significant difference in outcomes was observed, medium effects of intervention were observed on all outcomes, suggesting further is research is needed into the impact different technologies …

In this practice-based article, we share our experiences integrating Generative AI (GenAI) conversations into an undergraduate Critical Media Literacy course. Drawing from student surveys and self-assessments, qualitative analysis of classroom discussions, and reflective conversations between the authors, we found that our students perceived AI as both a learning aid and potential tool for cheating, depending on its intended use. We also found that students required more time and support than we initially thought to develop a critical perspective on GenAI tools. This article explores the transformative impact of technological advancements—especially computers, the internet, and artificial intelligence (AI)—on writing and literacy education. Building on relevant scholarships, it argues that there is an urgent need to update traditional literacy education by adding/extending three additional literacies: the literacies of privacy, originality, and agency. This study investigates the academic experiences of student veterans, addressing specific challenges they face in higher education. Using Schlossberg’s adult transition theory, it explores the effects of invisible barriers, enrollment trends, and institutional factors on veteran student success, leveraging the VA’s GI Bill Comparison tool to examine public versus private school support. Findings underscore the need for targeted resources, faculty training, and institutional awareness to foster a supportive and inclusive environment that enhances veteran students' academic success and sense of belonging.

This study is a reflection on my personal experiences with the higher education online teaching and learning process. It is an autoethnography study in which data were garnered from virtual participant observations, journals, an open-ended questionnaire and interviews about student projects during the COVID-19 pandemic. Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into nursing education presented significant opportunities yet posed challenges due to varied faculty readiness. This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) quality improvement (QI) project evaluated an educational intervention aimed at enhancing nursing faculty's AI proficiency and confidence at Regis University’s Rueckert-Hartman College for Health Professions. Using a mixed-methods, pre- and post-intervention design, validated surveys assessed changes in faculty perceptions, knowledge, and skills related to AI. The intervention included a digital toolkit with nine instructional videos demonstrating practical AI applications using FreedAI’s large language model, ChatGPT, supported by voiceover narration and closed captioning. Students will need to use AI in collegiate and professional writing, but using AI for assignments can hinder critical thinking skills crucial to analyzing and correcting AI output. As we transitioned to the dissertation stage, we experienced an increased sense of vulnerability, uncertainty, and tension where we simultaneously felt expert and novice in our development as teacher-educators and researchers. We embarked on a self-study with critical friendship and unpacked our understanding of novice-expert identity, placed ourselves within the context of this understanding, and reframed our perceptions. This process clarified how our self-doubt impacted our novice-expert identity, allowed us to critique our perceptions through another’s lens, and enabled us to successfully move forward. We offer our experiences as a model to support students through similar periods of self-doubt.

This work examines the complexities of navigating dual identities as emerging Hispanic women leaders in the spectrum of college athletes, and how Hispanic women can face personal and societal challenges when it comes to transitioning from college and then into the professional world.

By examining multiple assets that are rooted in Hispanic women’s culture, this project presents a leadership workshop by utilizing the ADDIE instructional design model. Each module of the workshop is clearly described, offering community building activities, self-reflections, and the opportunity to complete a leadership profile portfolio.
