Sharing With Crowds: Bibliometric Insights Into The Role Of Emotions In Crowdfunding, Saima Hafeez, Mateja Drnovšek

Economic and Business Review

In this paper, we provide an overview of the existing research on emotions in crowdfunding and integrate it using a bibliometric analysis of publication data from the decade 2013–2023. Our analysis includes a citation and cocitation analysis, a productivity analysis, a co-occurrence analysis, and a topic analysis based on abstracts. We find that the Journal of Business Venturing and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice are the most prominent journals publishing research at the intersection of emotions and crowdfunding. The coword analysis shows that current and frequently discussed topics are related to emotions, sentiment analysis, reward-based crowdfunding, machine learning, and blockchain. Furthermore, …

Existing research establishes that minority borrowers, particularly Black small business owners, faced significant challenges in accessing funds from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), especially in its early stages. We find that institutional and racial disparities persist during the PPP loan forgiveness stage. Controlling for various loan- and borrower-level characteristics, we demonstrate that relationship lenders – community banks, credit unions, and farm credit institutions – are associated with higher rates of PPP loan forgiveness. In contrast, automated lenders – fintechs and fintech banks – exhibit the lowest forgiveness rates. Black borrowers experience the poorest outcomes, except for loans issued by non-depository …

Respondents were asked a series of questions about their confidence in institutions. Trends for some of the questions are examined by comparing data from the 2017 Poll and 2021 Poll to this year’s results. This investigation assessed the influence of formal financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on the economic advancement of Nigeria, utilising annual time series data ranging from 1992 to 2022. Employing the Cobb-Douglas framework, control variables, including capital formation and labour, which could influence economic development, were incorporated into the empirical model to mitigate bias. Most closely-held enterprises are relatively small in size, with market values less than $1million. Many small mom and pop operations, or single owner-operator family businesses, often have market values even smaller. The most common method to account for size is to use the size premium reports from Kroll or another financial data service provider.
