Violence has become common place in business strategy, taking on many forms. Some use violence in rhetoric as they compete with other companies while others use sell violence as entertainment. This master’s thesis is a case study of the L. & H. Huning Mercantile Company, a mercantile partnership in New Mexico during the territorial period. Louis and Henry Huning, a pair of brothers who immigrated to New Mexico from Germany in 1859, established wholesale and retail enterprises in the Arizona and New Mexico territories. Their main storehouse was founded in Los Lunas, New Mexico, in 1871 following the departure of Erhardt Franz to St. Louis.

How to draw the line between public and private is a foundational, first-principles question of privacy law, but the answer has implications for intellectual property, as well. This project is one in a series of papers about first-person disclosures of information in the privacy and intellectual property law contexts, and it defines the boundary between public and nonpublic information through the lens of social science —namely, principles of trust.

This study discovered general market conditions as well as buyer and seller behavior in the sporthorse market for the disciplines of Dressage, Show Jumping, and Eventing. Comparative international entrepreneurship is a field still in its infancy. One of the largest needs in this stream of research is an understanding of how internationalization activities differ across countries, especially growing emerging markets. These two essays compare the antecedents and effects of internationalizing out of emerging and developed economies.

Essay 1 employs fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analyses to investigate how distinct configurations of national business systems interact with founders’ human capital to lead to high degrees of new venture internationalization. Taking into account local crop processors and livestock, we show transport costs have a substantial influence on land use decisions by farmers.

We utilize detailed GIS data sources which are commonly available rather than a special survey of agricultural producers.

Estimate how the proximity to local agricultural processors impacts crop choice.
