Background:

Studies on reducing the turnover of foreign-educated nurses (FENs) can help address the nursing shortage in the United States. Organizational commitment and associated factors have been explored in relation to lower turnover. Nursing researchers have identified job satisfaction, psychological contract breach, person-organization fit, and person-work setting fit as major factors in enhancing nurses’ organizational commitment. Research on the organizational commitment of Korean American (KA) nurses would provide insights into reducing turnover among FENs.

Objectives:

This study identifies some of the key factors that significantly enhance the organizational commitment of KA nurses.

Real-world materials, particularly biological structures such as feathers exhibit complex appearances that vary spatially across their surfaces. The field of computer graphics provides a means of understanding such surfaces through material modeling which uses both analytical models and data acquired from light-surface interactions. There are many efforts within the past decade in measuring materials for graphics, but common limitations in these works include not accounting for spatially varying properties and reliance on neural networks and synthetic datasets.

This paper argues that lowriders, a style of heavily customized vehicle deeply rooted in Chicano culture, ought to be recognized as a legitimate American art form. After establishing the historical and cultural background of lowriders, this paper identifies a cluster of essential aesthetic features which define lowriders, such as lowered suspension, custom wheels, elaborate paintwork, and opulent interiors. Several paradigmatic lowriders exhibiting these features are then examined against the background of various philosophical definitions of art. This study analyzes the use of rhetoric in Mikhail Gorbachev's resignation speech on December 25, 1991, using one of Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach, namely rhetorical aspect. This speech marked the dissolution of the Soviet Union and reflected the socio-political changes during Gorbachev's leadership, particularly concerning glasnost (openness) and perestroika (restructuring) policies. Through an analysis of Aristotle's five rhetorical elements—inventio, dispositio, elocutio, memoria, and pronuntiatio—this study finds that Gorbachev employed rhetorical strategies to reframe his reform ideas, establish credibility, and influence public perception of the ongoing political transition. This article challenges the traditional definition of music, limited to seven fixed elements: melody, harmony, rhythm, pitch, tempo, dynamics, and texture. The author suggests that all sound can be considered 'sound art,' blurring lines between music and other auditory experiences. In Mark Fisher’s hauntology, modern music is depicted as stagnant, trapped in a neoliberal pastiche that cancels the future by repeating past styles without innovation. This research focuses on translation and language errors discovered in English-Indonesian translation results. This study aims to investigate the types of errors mostly made by Indonesian novice translators. The data were obtained from translation practice assigned to undergraduate students, who were taking the compulsory basic translation course. The respondents, who were native Indonesian speakers, were asked to translate two paragraphs from a given text in class for one hour and send their translations to the raters via email. This study examines the role of internalized misogyny in sexual violence used as a weapon of war. Misogyny in patriarchal cultures fosters hatred towards women, facilitating sexual violence in armed conflicts. Cases in the Congo, Rwanda, Ukraine, and Yugoslavia demonstrate how sexual violence is systematically employed to demean and destroy women. Through a feminist critical approach and qualitative analysis, this research reveals that sexual violence in war is often not recognized as a weapon of war due to the inferior position of women in patriarchal societies, being merely seen as ordinary crimes despite being systematic and structured human rights violations. …

Fred Feldman’s Justicized Act Utilitarianism (JAU) seeks to address the distributive shortcomings of consequentialist theories by incorporating justice in his axiology. By considering the distribution of intrinsic goods rather than solely their quantity, JAU aims to preserve consequentialism’s core principles while addressing justice-based objections. This paper critically examines JAU, arguing that while Feldman’s theory marks a significant advancement, it ultimately fails to reconcile consequentialism with justice in a meaningful way. Following an exposition of JAU, two critiques are presented through thought experiments to test its boundaries and implications.
