The Charlotte Williams Memorial Hospital, a private hospital in Richmond, Virginia, opened as a private hospital in 1903. The hospital advertised its aim as relieving "suffering humanity by every means known to medical science." It had private rooms for paying patients and separate wards for "charity" patients. The aim was to make no profit and increase the number of free beds quickly. The hospital was deeded to the Medical College of Virginia (MCV) in 1913 and used as a teaching hospital; it later housed nursing students.
