GDI.

The Deception Of A Metamorphosis, Heidi A. Hernandez
Honors Undergraduate Theses
With the historic fascination of Roman and Greek mythology, it is easy to get caught up in the epic the tales of the ancient era provide. A price must be paid for the powerful figures of these stories to rise to such heights, and the ancient world finds women to be their preferred form of currency.
Behind these deceptive chronicles are the trials of women left behind, abandoned, abused and subjected to cruel sexual abuse and the elements reduced to their physical value serving as nothing more than a pawn. One woman, a nymph, is amidst this trial, Ovid brings …

This is a representation of a patient sitting on the edge of his hospital bed. It is based on a memory I have from a clinical rotation, in which someone was diagnosed with cancer with a very poor prognosis. The dark green coating the room and his body represents the overwhelming fear he possibly feels. The blue represents sadness, while the red represents anger.

Secondhand apparel refers to clothing and accessories that have been previously owned, handed down, donated, or resold to others. They are a sustainable product because they are reused instead of being discarded into landfills. Consumer experience refers to the emotional and psychological responses individuals have during their interactions with products and services across all touchpoints. In the secondhand apparel market, consumer experience plays a significant role in product purchasing, and the unique aspects of retail entertainment serve as key motivators. Consumer-perceived risk refers to the uncertainty of adverse outcomes associated with purchasing a product. Purchasing secondhand apparel poses similar yet …

Lives And Lessons Of Zoo Animals, Nicole Emlen
Undergraduate Theses, Professional Papers, and Capstone Artifacts
This project was an interdisciplinary museum exhibit that was displayed at the Montana Natural History Center between April 4 and May 12, 2025. It displays my photographs that I took of some of the animals I worked with during my summer 2024 internship at ZooMontana. In this project, I educate the public about three main functions of zoos--rescue, conservation, and education--through the stories and lives of four species. These animals all have unique stories that are important to share to improve public knowledge of why zoos are important and how we can improve relationships between humans and wildlife. Photography is …

Rabble is a companion chapbook publication to the magazine Pwatem. From the preface of most issues: "'Tell the rabble my name is Cabell."- James Branch Cabell to his editor, to help people learn how to pronounce his name. Cabell used the word derogatively but we are taking it back. These pages will showcase the writing and illustrations of our rabble-the ordinary students of VCU."

Kain Tayo (“Let’s eat!” in Tagalog) is a sculptural installation inspired by the Filipino tradition of Kamayan—a communal feast eaten with one’s hands and served on banana leaves. Using found and discarded objects, the work reimagines a shared dining experience as a celebration of cultural memory, sustainability, and participation. Each piece mimics traditional Filipino dishes like lumpia and lechon, inviting viewers to touch, rearrange, and reflect on the meaning of value, waste, and connection. This honors project merges my background in Studio Art and Environmental Studies, transforming everyday scraps into a joyful expression of identity and storytelling.

A Survival Horror Video Game's Impact On Visual Attention, Alicia D. Sprague

The current study’s main research question was whether playing a survival horror video game increases the visual selective attention of a player. The research consisted of the preliminary evaluation of participants’ visual attention abilities and anxiety levels through psychological tasks. Participants then played Resident Evil 4: Chainsaw Demo, the selected survival horror video game for this study. After playing the demo, participants repeated the previous psychological tasks, and their results were assessed. Results …
