Esg To Brand Equity: Stake Holders, Social Media & Signaling., Sowmdeb Sen Feb 2024

Esg To Brand Equity: Stake Holders, Social Media & Signaling., Sowmdeb Sen

Association of Marketing Theory and Practice Proceedings 2024

The value of the companies increasingly consists largely of intangible values such as brand equity. Intangible decisions like involvement in ESG present a considerable opportunity for different stakeholders to impact brand equity. Signaling theory suggests that firms use signals to overcome information asymmetry (Karanges et al, 2018; Grinblatt et al,1998) when firms signal achievements and ESG. How do stakeholders share and signal ESG information and achievements in social media to drive brand equity? The author argues that CEO characteristics and investor base shape the firm’s social media ESG-brand management strategy in driving brand equity.

Making Customers More Loyal: The Role Of Value Cocreation In Branded Apps, Trang Phuc Tran, Adrienne Muldrow, Charlene Dadzie Feb 2024

Making Customers More Loyal: The Role Of Value Cocreation In Branded Apps, Trang Phuc Tran, Adrienne Muldrow, Charlene Dadzie

Association of Marketing Theory and Practice Proceedings 2024

The paper develops a conceptual model that examines how value in use enhances value co-creation and then brand loyalty, and captures how value-in-use could change customer perception of branded app entertainment and perceived usefulness, leading to value co-creation. Data from 463 brand app users show that all hypothesized relationships are supported, except H5 (ENT -> COC). That means value co-creation is driven by value-in-use and perceived usefulness, but not by app entertainment. Moreover, value co-creation, in turn, has an impact on brand loyalty. Additionally, mediation effects exist in two paths: first, branded app entertainment and perceived usefulness mediate the effect …

Estimating Costs And Markups For Marketing Plans: Three Approaches, Mary Lee Stansifer Phd Feb 2024

Estimating Costs And Markups For Marketing Plans: Three Approaches, Mary Lee Stansifer Phd

Association of Marketing Theory and Practice Proceedings 2024

This paper addresses challenges encountered by undergraduate students when tasked with crafting marketing plans, particularly in determining realistic costs and prices. Faculty can proactively estimate the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), markup percentages, and retail prices for a range of products. Three approaches are presented to guide this process.

The first approach is using real-life products featured on Shark Tank. By extracting accurate cost information, it is possible to detail costs and prices at each stage of the supply chain. The second approach is to start with production costs. This approach allows faculty to work from the retail price and …

Celebrity couples occupy a unique space in popular culture. Similar to the royal unions of history and the present, the combination of notoriety and the voyeuristic appeal of watching a relationship play out in public spaces, celebrity couples energize popular discourse and invite public commentary and interest. The opportunity to become a spectator in ongoing celebrity coupling invites a level of perceived intimacy in what feels like a relationship with famous people.

Data collected for this study suggests Taylor Swift’s connection to Super Bowl LVIII has elevated the meaning of the game beyond the stratospheric levels of cultural significance the …

Stabilizing Two-Qubit Entanglement With Dynamically Decoupled Active Feedback, Sacha Greenfield, Leigh Martin, Felix Motzoi, K. Birgitta Whaley, Justin Dressel, Eli M. Levenson-Falk

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

We propose and analyze a protocol for stabilizing a maximally entangled state of two noninteracting qubits using active state-dependent feedback from a continuous two-qubit half-parity measurement in coordination with a concurrent, noncommuting dynamical decoupling drive. We demonstrate that such a drive can be simultaneous with the measurement and feedback, while also playing a key part in the feedback protocol itself. We show that robust stabilization with near-unit fidelity can be achieved even in the presence of realistic nonidealities, such as time delay in the feedback loop, imperfect state-tracking, inefficient measurements, dephasing from 1/f-distributed qubit-frequency noise, and relaxation. We …

This study evaluates using interferometry on low-frequency synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images to monitor snow water equivalent (SWE) over seasonal and synoptic scales. We retrieved SWE changes from nine pairs of SAR images, mean 8 d temporal baseline, captured by an L-band aerial platform, NASA's Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle Synthetic Aperture Radar (UAVSAR), over central Idaho as part of the NASA SnowEx 2020 and 2021 campaigns. The retrieved SWE changes were compared against coincident in situ measurements (SNOTEL and snow pits from the SnowEx field campaign) and to 100 m gridded SnowModel modeled SWE changes. The comparison of in situ to …

Snow Water Equivalent Retrieval Over Idaho – Part 1: Using Sentinel-1 Repeat-Pass Interferometry, Shadi Oveisgharan, Robert Zinke, Zachary Hoppinen, Hans Peter Marshall

Geosciences Faculty Publications and Presentations

Snow water equivalent (SWE) is identified as the key element of the snowpack that impacts rivers' streamflow and water cycle. Both active and passive microwave remote sensing methods have been used to retrieve SWE, but there does not currently exist a SWE product that provides useful estimates in mountainous terrain. Active sensors provide higher-resolution observations, but the suitable radar frequencies and temporal repeat intervals have not been available until recently. Interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) has been shown to have the potential to estimate SWE change. In this study, we apply this technique to a long time series of 6 …

Unveiling The Feeling Effect: How Sentiment Orientation Deceives Traditional Survey Findings In Marketing Research, Junhong Min, Matthew Monte, Ulrich Schmelzle

Association of Marketing Theory and Practice Proceedings 2024

This study inspected the influence of sentiment orientation (positive vs negative) on parameter estimation in marketing research models, specifically addressing gaps in previous research focused on online review platforms but not traditional surveys. Examining 627 participants assessing city residents' quality of life, the survey analyzed sentiment using the lexicon-based sentiment analysis. Three contextual factors affecting sentiment orientation—reasoning strength, cognitive strength, and factual information strength—were discovered. The analysis revealed higher adjusted R-squared scores for negative sentiment, suggesting potential errors in survey research when sentiment orientation is ignored. The study advocates combining automatic sentiment analysis with quantitative research findings to enhance survey …

Perioperative vision loss (POVL) is a devastating surgical complication that impacts both the recovery from surgery and quality of life, most commonly occurring after spine surgery. With rates of spine surgery dramatically increasing, the prevalence of POVL will increase proportionately. This scoping review aims to aggregate the literature pertinent to POVL in spine surgery and consolidate recommendations and preventative measures to reduce the risk of POVL. There are several causes of POVL, and the main contribution following spine surgery is ischemic optic neuropathy (ION). Vision loss often manifests immediately following surgery and is irreversible and severe. Diffusion weighted imaging has …

Can The Ada Protect Persons With Disabilities In Their Ability To Get To Work?, Jack Gatcliffe

ERSJ Blog

James Kimmons worked at a Charter Communications call center. He suffered cataracts in both eyes, which made it difficult to drive in the dark. Kimmons requested a modification to his work schedule, seeking permission to work earlier hours so he could commute home in the daylight. Notably, the work-schedule accommodation Kimmons sought is one that many other Americans may need, as 22.8% of all working age adults are considered accommodation-sensitive and 47% to 58% “of those who would actually benefit from a workplace accommodation do not receive one.” His employer granted his request for a short period of time but …

Northern Pakistan is interpreted here as including three administrative regions: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. It is dominated by multiple mountain ranges whose valleys drain, directly or indirectly, into the Indus River. Hazara University, which is in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was started in 2002 and its herbarium (HUP) in 2005. Digitization of the herbarium's vascular plants began in 2021 with its records being shared in OpenHerbarium and GBIF. Its online presence is now growing more rapidly than any other Pakistani herbarium. This paper summarizes the taxonomic diversity and geographic origin of its monocot holdings in 2023. In 2023, …

With technological advancements in diagnostic imaging, smart sensing, and wearables, a multitude of heterogeneous sources or modalities are available to proactively monitor the health of the elderly. Due to the increasing risks of falls among older adults, an early diagnosis tool is crucial to prevent future falls. However, during the early stage of diagnosis, there is often limited or no labeled data (expert-confirmed diagnostic information) available in the target domain (new cohort) to determine the proper treatment for older adults. Instead, there are multiple related but non-identical domain data with labels from the existing cohort or different institutions. Integrating different …
