Purpose: Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC) in healthcare facilitates efficiency and optimal outcomes for healthcare consumers. To prepare future healthcare workers to engage in collaborative practice, higher education institutions are investing time and resources to engage students in interprofessional education (IPE) experiences. These experiences vary in scope and nature and can include experiential learning (EL) components. Designing these experiences involves much time, planning, and resources from faculty. Purpose: The intent of this study is to examine how Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) and Counseling and Human Development (CHD) graduate students who experienced Counselors and Occupational Therapists Professionally Engaged (COPE) in the Community program perceived their self-evaluation of cultural competence with humility (CCH) constructs (cultural awareness, skills, knowledge, and desire) from pre- to post-experience. Methods: Using a pre-/post-test cohort design, researchers used the Modified Cultural Competency Self-Assessment (M-CCSA) to determine if there were changes in ratings after students completed a novel training program. Benefits Associated With Improving Fatigue Regulations For Cargo Pilots, Peter O'Reilly, Arthur Chiari, Bruna Zelenkovas De Gois E Silva, Nelson Christianini, Rodrigo Gomes De Sales, Vitor Adnam Crusco, Maria Petrescu

National Training Aircraft Symposium (NTAS)

This study investigated the potential business benefits of improving fatigue regulations for cargo pilots in Brazil. The research objectives were to compare fatigue levels between cargo and passenger operations, identify regulatory inefficiencies for cargo operators, simulate proposed changes, and analyze cost scenarios. The experimental design involved a review of fatigue regulations in Brazil and the USA, analyzing pilot scheduling data, and the creation of hypothetical flexible scheduling scenarios for 70 pilots flying 16,500 hours annually. We reviewed NTSB data on fatigue-related incidents in US cargo operations with flexible regulations and from the fatigue program of LATAM Cargo.

Operational Feasibility And Mobility Outcome From Evtol Based On Existing Air Infrastructure, Peter O'Reilly, Antonio Ivaldo De Andrade, Danilo Vieira, Jorge Luis Rosa Marques, Marco Aurélio Feitosa De A. L. Babadopulos, Maria Petrescu

This study aimed to assess the operational feasibility and air mobility outcomes of introducing Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) vehicles in São Paulo City and the surrounding metropolitan area, utilizing the existing infrastructure of helipads and heliports. We analyzed the technical specifications of five eVTOL models capable of carrying at least four passengers to determine their compatibility with the 308 existing helipads in São Paulo. The results showed that between 64% and 99% of possible routes could be achieved by the eVTOL models, leading to increased air mobility benefits.

Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is a paradigm shift in the versatility of the aviation industry. The obvious benefits of this platform will revolutionize a variety of aspects of the industry. One of the aspects in which the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has recommended research is the effectiveness of the traditional educational methods. Spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic, online teaching methodologies have become widely accepted in aviation. In addition, the format of traditional, instructor-led courses have also changed. Voluntary Safety Reporting Programs (VSRPs) are a critical tool in the aviation industry for monitoring safety issues observed by the frontline workforce. While VSRPs primarily focus on operational safety, report narratives often describe factors such as fatigue, workload, culture, staffing, and health, directly or indirectly impacting mental health. These reports can provide individual and organizational insights into aviation personnel's physical and psychological well-being. Purpose: Social prescribing is a core part of healthcare policy within the NHS and requires support and contributions from all healthcare professionals, including Allied Healthcare Professionals (AHPs). The well-established medical student-led social prescribing student champion scheme (SPSCS) has been expanded to include AHPs, and AHP champions were recruited to deliver peer-led activities focused on social prescribing. This article aimed to evaluate the impact of the scheme's expansion on AHP students. Method: Fourteen AHP champions ran 21 activities that reached 524 students. Purpose: Students in an entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) programs are subject to high levels of stress and emotional burnout. Effective management of stress impacts life satisfaction and academic performance. Emotional intelligence (EI) has been shown to relate to lower stress levels in allied health students. Despite this, little has been done to investigate the emotional demands of an occupational therapy education. Abstract

Fieldwork educators have expressed concerns about the readiness of occupational therapy students for clinical reasoning in the practice setting. Experiential learning involving face-to-face personal interactions with clients facilitates the application of theoretical knowledge, and the development of professional skills, competence, and self-confidence. Having the opportunity for extensive hands-on time working with clients, such as is offered in a pro bono clinic structure, may positively impact student clinical reasoning development of occupational therapy students.

Objective: The objective of this review was to understand the scope of evidence relating to the use of telehealth for gross motor assessment tools in children 0-12 years of age.

Background: Telehealth has been widely used by physiotherapists since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, however little is known about the validity and reliability of using gross motor assessment tools via telehealth. Gross motor assessment tools are used by physiotherapists to understand motor function, support diagnoses of motor disorders, plan and evaluate interventions. Purpose: This qualitative descriptive study explored participants’, with chronic spinal cord injury (SCI), experiences with meaningful intensive task specific training (ITST). Methods: Three participants completed 24-ITST upper extremity motor therapy intervention sessions. Qualitative interviews were completed at three time points for a case series: baseline, within 7 days of the completion of the final ITST intervention session, and within one month of the final ITST intervention session for a total of 9 interviews.
