While libraries no longer dream of having everything patrons might ever want or need, they can make an effort to get closer to those needs without going over budget. It doesn’t have to take loading additional records in the catalog or a team of librarians to find and select titles. This paper explores the process Eastern Kentucky University Libraries went through to create and develop a mediated demand driven acquisitions workflow starting with interlibrary loan requests and helped the collection become modern, diversified, and more responsive to current users and curriculum.

Advancements in technology have impacted how people gather and obtain new information. This phe-nomenon is especially apparent among younger generations where there has been an increase in the number of students who are visual learners. To continue to best serve these students, librarians need to begin to adapt library instructional material, such as research guides, to also present information using visual multimedia resources. While adapting research guides to increasingly visual learners, the oppor-tunity exists to ensure that research guides follow a user-centered design. The unprecedented COVID-19 crisis has impacted many universities and academic libraries resulting in normal operations ceasing temporarily. Overall, academic libraries at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic immediately adjusted to the so-called new normal and accommodated disrupted work operations to operate successfully. This article discusses the procedures implemented, positive and negative reactions to these changes, and the challenges experienced at Alabama State University, Levi Watkins Learning Center, and other libraries. Assessing the expertise of researchers has garnered increased interest recently. This heightened focus arises from the growing emphasis on interdisciplinary science and the subsequent need to form expert teams. When forming these teams, the coordinators need to assess expertise in fields that are often very different from theirs. The conventional reliance on signals of success, prestige, and academic impact can unintentionally perpetuate biases within the assessment process.
