I often teach one-off academic research instruction sessions for law students, for either those working on a journal or those in a writing seminar.

My approach to these sessions is relatively standard—demonstrate the sources and strategies for academic legal research—but tailored to the individual needs and overall topic of each course. One of my favorite ways to personalize a session is to demonstrate the research process using a topic that matches the class itself. A “fake paper,” if you will.

This paper addressed Nigeria’s rural dwellers’ information needs for poverty reduction and sustainable development. The paper specifically examined the problem of poverty in Nigeria, especially in her rural areas, what sustainable development entails, the information needs of the Nigerian rural folks for poverty reduction and for ensuring sustainable development, channels for dissemination of information to the rural dwellers, challenges often faced in meeting the information needs of the rural dwellers (e.g. government neglect of the rural areas, monopoly and politicization of information flow, among others). The work surveyed staff discipline in academic libraries in Delta State. It was guided by four objectives of the study. The study adopted the survey design and the population of the study is thirty (30) Heads of the library (the academic Librarian in charge and readers services head) in fifteen academic libraries under study. The questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection. Data generated from the study were analyzed using frequency count and simple percentage (%). Work engagement is the most potent predictor of individual and organizational success. However, researchers have made no significant effort regarding this crucial issue of librarian work engagement in Pakistan. Therefore, the present study explores work engagement among Pakistani librarians and its impact on their job performance. The qualitative research involved interviewing five professional librarians aged between 30 and 45 years with professional experience of five years and above. The thematic nature of the interviews was conducted online with the main aim of understanding factors that affect work engagement. The findings revealed multiple work engagement determinants, notably influencing job performance.

Open educational resources (OER) play an increasingly important role in the education landscape, with increased awareness and use year over year (Coffey). Often, academic libraries play a supporting role for instructors as they locate, adopt, and create OER for their courses. In this article, we will provide an introduction to OER, outline some current trends in open education, and describe a few of the OER initiatives currently underway in Kentucky’s college and university libraries.

In Nigeria, many public and private university libraries have deployed the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) as a retrieval tool to improve services for user satisfaction. The study, therefore, investigated the assessment of students' information literacy skills and OPAC usage: a study of law undergraduates in Osun state, Nigeria.

The population comprised 1,374 law undergraduate students from one public university and four private universities in Osun State in Nigeria, and a two-stage sampling technique was used to select a sample of 326 for the study. Modern libraries are increasingly being redefined as places to get unrestricted access to information in many formats and from many sources by providing a tremendous amount of information with a variety of digital tools. The study focused on digital preservation practices in federal university libraries in Southwestern Nigeria. A survey design of the qualitative type was adopted. Open Science (OS) seeks to apply the concept of openness across all stages of research practice. It aims to facilitate the dissemination of research at speed and to foster collaboration between researchers (Foster Open Science, 2023). OS is an essential aspect of Responsible Research Practice (ALLEA, 2017) and integral to addressing the complex problems facing the world (UNESCO, 2021). It is thus imperative that research performing organisations provide effective OS training.
