Perceptions Of Scholarly Publishing In Open Access Routes: A Survey Of Lis Professionals In Odisha, Sabitri Majhi, Sumitra Baral, Bulu Maharana

The main purpose of this study is to determine the perception of open access system among the library professionals, and the factors they consider while selecting open access journals for publication. The both printed and online questionnaire was designed for data collection. A total of 116 LIS (Library and Information Science) professional’s responses were collected through both online and offline questionnaire from different academic libraries in Odisha. The study shows that majority of the LIS professionals of different academic institutions of Odisha are aware about open access routes. In 2009, the author sent a link to a questionnaire to several email lists, inviting academic librarians to answer a short survey regarding whether blogging should count as scholarship. The author wondered if, seven years later, blogs had gained more traction as a viable form of scholarship, or whether interest in blogging was waning. In the last round of author-sharing policy revisions, Elsevier created a labyrinthine title-by-title embargo structure requiring embargoes from 12 to 48 months for authors sharing via institutional repository (IR), while permitting immediate sharing via an author’s personal website or blog. At the same time, all prepublication versions are to bear a Creative Commons-Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivatives (CC-BY-NC-ND) license. At the time this policy was announced, it was criticized by many in the scholarly communication community as overly complicated and restrictive. When the roadmap for OSI was first being developed in 2015, our original intent was to hold a series of 10 annual meetings beginning in 2016. After the first two meetings, however, it became apparent that the next step in this process should be to pause and have just the summit group meet to formally discuss and plan out what comes next instead of having this complex conversation online (which we had been doing since mid-2017) or amongst a group of several hundred participants. Like most of its peer institutions, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Libraries faced the challenge of meeting the needs of a growing number of students taking online courses. The author, hired as the new Virtual Learning Librarian in January 2016, was charged with creating a new Virtual Learning Program. This tutorials-based program was first fully implemented in a fully online Entomology graduate program. This paper summarizes the development of the Virtual Learning Program, how it was adapted to the Entomology program, and the initial results from the first semester of implementation.

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between perceived richness of information resources at academic library and the attitude to use them by students' of Islamic Azad University of Ahvaz; and conducted by an analytical survey method. Using stratified random sampling 380 students were selected and data were collected using researcher made questionnaire. Results showed that the students have no tendency (mean=3.2281) to use the information resources of library. Meanwhile, the library information resources in terms of update (mean=3.2281), accessibility (mean=3.1702), quality (mean=3.1342), transparency (mean=3.1325) and quick feedback ability (mean=3.1325) are above average and in a relatively favorable level; but, …
