Franklin, AHIP, FMLA, chaired the task force and guided initiatives. From 2017 to 2020, the task force completed a review of MLA defining documents—including the mission, vision, values, and code of ethics— resulting in language updates to these documents. As MLA transitioned through the communities process, the DITF contributed to the transition. Other recommended essential changes to MLA profiles to promote awareness included updating pronouns to promote gender inclusivity and suggestions for the Annual Meeting …

The purpose of this paper is to analyse the use of library resources by students and faculty members in selected pharmacy colleges of Karnataka. This study adopted survey method and questionnaire tool used to collect primary data from the respondents. A well-structured questionnaire has been circulated among 691 faculty members and students whereas 686 respondents were responded. Based on the findings, this study recommended that, libraries need to take necessary steps in order to visit users on daily basis; library should attract users to use variety of resources other than books and periodicals. Rice share the 2020 Nobel in Physiology or Medicine for their contributions to the identification, treatment, and eventual elimination of the hepatitis C virus (HCV). The then novel molecular techniques they used have laid the groundwork for future work on HCV and other viruses. This chapter addresses the shortcomings of current self-efficacy models describing the health information practices of LGBTQIA+ communities. Informed by semi-structured interviews with 30 LGBTQIA+ community leaders from South Carolina, findings demonstrate how their self-efficacy operates beyond HIV/AIDS research while complicating traditional models that isolate an individual’s health information practices from their abundant communal experiences. Findings also suggest that participants engage with health information and resources in ways deemed unhealthy or harmful by healthcare providers. However, such practices are nuanced, and participants carefully navigate them, balancing concerns for community safety and well-being over traditional engagements with healthcare infrastructures. The present study assesses the effectiveness of medical consortium HELINET established in 2003 by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS). The use, productivity and impact of HELINET subscriptions to the electronic sources were analysed. 1207 responses obtained from 39 medical institutions includes 60.3% male and 39.7% female respondents includes the respondents include doctors, medical professionals, and other medical and para-medical, Clinical study practitioners, research scholars and students on HELINET resources from medical and super speciality subjects. 23.4% used e-resources for teaching and learning, 18.3% for research purpose, 10.3% and 10.2% used resources for patient care and course work respectively, …

Objective: Describe considerations for small libraries considering the adoption of virtual reality technology as a resource for health sciences education.

Methods: A small academic medical library obtained grant funding to implement a virtual reality pilot project to support anatomy coursework.

Results: Observations were made related to the technology selection and purchasing process, space and safety requirements for implementing VR, student patterns of use, supplementary VR programs of interest to medical students (including gaming and meditation programs for stress relief), and staffing/scheduling/maintenance of the system.

To help address organizational health literacy, the University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC) created a Task Force and utilized the Health Literacy Environment of Hospitals and Health Centers (HLEHHC) tool to assess UTMC’s health literacy attributes. When using this tool, it was discovered that some of the questions needed to be updated. Objective: Full-time public academic medical librarians are often provided with an employer-sponsored retirement plan, a vital benefit to ensure long-term financial stability, particularly as COVID-19 restricts salary raises. Most of these librarians are classified as either faculty or exempt staff. One retirement option is the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP), a defined contribution plan where the employer and often the employee contribute. This study will assess whether public academic institutions in the Southeastern Atlantic Region of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (SEA/NNLM) provide equivalent ORP benefits compared to peer institutions in other regions of the country.

Converting the online catalog to a cloud-based system. The library’s software-based catalog experienced technical issues whenever the hospital’s Information Technology department performed updates, and remote access to the system was not available. The authors describe the process of successfully converting the online catalog to a cloud-based system with remote access. Cultural humility involves ongoing openness to learning from the experiences of others, particularly members of marginalized groups.
