Influences On Library Liaison And Faculty Collaboration In Collection Development, Tim Butzen

Much has been written about library liaison programs in academic libraries throughout the United States. Since their inception, liaison programs have emphasized the collaboration between librarians and faculty in collection development. This brief paper synthesizes relevant literature to identify the dynamics that currently influence this collaboration. Those that emerge here include liaison job descriptions and collection development policies, direct service and collaboration, information reciprocity, relational factors, and budgets. The paper concludes with suggestions for interdisciplinary collaboration and for future teaching and research.

This paper examines the attitudes and the practice of documentation of indigenous knowledge by the traditional health practitioners (THP) in Kwara State, Nigeria. Indigenous knowledge has been playing significant roles most especially in the primary health of the people in rural areas. This important knowledge is prone to attrition due to non-documentation and the World Bank has warned that if the knowledge is not documented, it will be lost. The research scrutinises information literacy, self-concept and metacognitive ability of teacher-librarians at the University of Zululand, South Africa. A total of one hundred and ten (110) copies of questionnaire were distributed among second-year teacher-librarians, out of which fifty-seven (57) copies were returned with valuable responses, giving a response rate of 51.8%. The study chronicled basic issues that concern self-efficacy, personal knowledge, task and procedural knowledge, strategic and declarative knowledge, conditional knowledge and planning ability of teachers. The paper studied access to the information materials collected in the libraries and the building structure of the two university libraries. Objective: The present study aimed to investigate the health information seeking behavior, applicability and the evaluation of health information obtained from the Internet by Iranian pregnant women.

Design and setting: The present study was descriptive-survey. The study population included 196 pregnant women in different gestational months referred to hospitals with Obstetrics and Gynecology ward in Hamadan, Iran on September and October in 2016 who were selected based on stratified random sampling method. This study highlights the authorship trend and collaborative research in the area of lung cancer literature based on 93512 scholarly communications appeared in the lung cancer literature during 1997 to 2016.The study elaborates on various bibliometric components such as year wise distribution of articles, relative growth rate, doubling time, authorship pattern and collaborative coefficients.
