The purposes of the paper is to analyze and assess the current state of archives and records management in some selected university libraries of Bangladesh as well as to evaluate professionalism towards the existing preservation systems.

To draw inferences and make recommendations, a survey was conducted in selected public and private university libraries of Bangladesh. The universities were selected for this study on the basis of their position within 10^th in the 2020 UniRank list published in Bangladesh. In response to the 2020 global pandemic, the University of Minnesota Archives sought to gather digital content documenting the public health crisis and institutional response to COVID-19. Staff identified university-produced podcasts from several departments as information-rich contemporaneous content that was also at high risk of loss. Over the course of this work, we determined that these podcasts should be preserved in our institutional repository, as we came to see University podcasts more broadly as a digital serial publication. The Archives & Distinctive Collections of the College of the Holy Cross has a large collection of three-dimensional objects, which can be challenging to store and preserve. This presentation will examine the low-cost and creative solutions used to develop a custom storage plan for the objects within the Guiney Family Papers.

Using Digital Libraries To Engage The Whole Student: Culturally Sustaining Pedagogies, Trauma-Informed Classrooms, And Project-Based Learning, Alejandra Torres

Engaging students with an online library does not have to be limited to research purposes only. This essay includes lesson plan ideas that use the Louisiana Digital Library to engage middle and high school students in ways that help amplify their curiosity and explore their identities. To ensure the lesson plans engage the whole student, I ground them in three components (culturally sustaining pedagogies, trauma-informed classrooms, and project-based learning) and seven core values. These lessons could be used alone as writing workshops or can be used to introduce or make connections to other concepts. The activities are adaptable to fit …

This paper takes the sonification (the translation into sound) of data from sterilization recommendations made under eugenic laws in the United States as a case study in navigating the terrain between a commitment to caring for and with impacted communities and the potential affordances and perils of using sensitive collections as data. The author discusses ways that feminist care ethics and collections as data research intersect in a digital humanities project.

This paper uses the example of the development of a digital collections program at Harvard University’s Houghton Library to provide an introduction to building programmatic and equitable collections online. Focusing on why, how, and what goes into programmatic digital collections through examples of ongoing project workflows and special projects workflows, the paper introduces methods for digital project planning that center diverse histories.

The “Hearthside” shaped plate was created by the Homer Laughlin China Company sometime between 1963 and 1973. My family owns such a plate, and ours originally belonged to a set of plates that was “purchased” by my grandmother, Mary Ruhlin, with books and books full of redemption stamps. Redemption stamps were literal stamps that stores distributed to customers, who could later redeem them for cash or merchandise at affiliated redemption centers that partnered with grocery stores and businesses; redemption stamps functioned as a precursor to the modern loyalty card! This study examined records management practices in public universities of Nigeria. Qualitative research using a single case study approach with a semi-structured interview technique was used to extract data from 14 stakeholders in records and information management regarding the research topic. Software for qualitative research analysis ATLAS-ti 7.0 was used to aid the data analysis. The result of the study among others shows that RIM is predominantly conducted manually in the university with a lot of challenges.
