The purpose of this study is to determine how the role of libraries and the perception of librarians in the BSC implementation at the Ministry of Finance and BPPT. The method used is qualitative descriptive to determine the role of libraries and quantitative descriptive to know the perception of library staff. The results show the role of libraries in the implementation of the BSC lies in the perspective of internal processes in the strategy map parent institution. Ministry of Finance library employee perceptions of the BSC implementation is still considered inadequate by a factor of resources (staff, budget, and facilities). …

Digital information resources are a vitally important and increasingly large component of academic libraries’ collection and preservation responsibilities. This includes content converted to and originating from digital form (born-digital). Preserving digital material, such as social media and websites, is essential for ensuring that future generations know everyone’s story, especially those groups which have been historically underrepresented in official records. This presentation will detail the steps undertaken by a digital preservation task force to first assess the weaknesses in current practice, and then develop a plan to implement a digital preservation policy and workflow. This presentation will consider how almost 10,000 pictures from the Chicano/Mexicano farming communities of the Upper Rio Grande Valley of Southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico can contribute and alter the narrative of farm working. This digital collection documents over 30 years of farming with acequias, or communal irrigation canals, and captures themes of food production, the care of the land and environment, and water management. In a time where large-scale agribusiness is fomented by Monsanto chemicals and seed control, these farmers work to maintain acequia agriculture. Building ethnically diverse collections has always been challenging -- either because minority communities do not see traditional institutions as keepers of their histories or librarians/archivists are not embedded sufficiently in the communities to recognize the value of their materials. And lastly, when communities do donate physical materials, processing and enabling access to these collections can often be slow, due to a myriad of reasons. The perception of a lack of public interest may lead to low processing priority, which only increases the potential for loss. We fi rst came into contact with the Tippecanoe County Historical Association (TCHA) through the fall 2016 honors course “Digital Histories,” led by Dr. Jennifer Bay. Our course project was to create a digital exhibition for the TCHA with a service-learning grant provided by Purdue University. In this collaboration, we were able to put into practice the theories and processes we learned in the classroom and gain both a working knowledge of archival techniques and an understanding of the relationship between the institution and the community. The goal of the SHARE initiative, a partnership between the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and the Center for Open Science (COS), is to build a “free, open, data set about research and scholarly activities across their life cycle.” As of August 2017, 161 repositories and publishers have made metadata available to SHARE for harvesting, and the aggregated data set is available for searching. Many metadata providers are institutional repositories utilizing the bepress Digital Commons platform whose metadata is harvested through the OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) protocol for repository interoperability. Like many institutions, Forsyth Digital Collections presents their content on more than one platform. Since the acquisition of Digital Commons and the launch of the FHSU Scholars Repository in January 2016, there has been an institutional effort to determine which platform is best suited to displaying existing content. Beginning in 2009, the FHSU Reveille Yearbooks collection had been hosted in CONTENTdm. The user experience for this collection left much to be desired.
