Cette méthode est utilisée pour identifier des bactéries cultivées à partir d’échantillons d’air, de surface ou provenant de procédés solides ou liquides. Après avoir isolé une souche bactérienne en culture pure, les caractères macroscopiques et microscopiques des colonies bactériennes sont observés et des tests biochimiques simples sont réalisés. L’identification finale pourra être réalisée en utilisant une ou plusieurs de ces techniques : par spectrométrie de masse utilisant la technologie MALDI-ToF, par séquençage de type Sanger du gène codant pour l’ARNr 16S ou en fonction des caractéristiques phénotypiques de la souche par le système Biolog (tests biochimiques).

Purpose: Dental professionals are exposed to hazardous noise levels on a daily basis in clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to compare the hearing status of dental hygienists who utilize ultrasonic scalers in the workplace compared to age-matched control participants (non-dental hygienists) who were not exposed to ultrasonic noise.

Methods: A convenience sample of nineteen dental hygienists (experimental) and nineteen non-dental hygienists (control) was recruited for this study. With ever-increasing demands placed upon active priests in the United States, insight into protecting their mental health may help strengthen vocational resilience for individual priests. The purpose of this study was to examine the association of individual variables, workplace characteristics, and physical activity participation with occupational distress levels among Catholic priests. A 22-question survey consisting of a demographic questionnaire, the Clergy Occupational Distress Index, and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire was employed to collect individual variables, workplace characteristics, physical activity participation, and occupational distress levels of Catholic priests from the Eastern seaboard of the United States. Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) is a widely recognized environment pollutant known for its high bio- accumulation potential and a long elimination half-life. Several studies have shown that PFOS can alter multiple biological pathways and negatively affect human health. Ce rapport a pour objectif de présenter les résultats d’une recherche-action visant le développement d’un modèle d’intervention préventive en santé et sécurité du travail (SST) par et pour les préposés aux bénéficiaires (PAB) dans les centres d’hébergement et de soins de longue durée (CHSLD) du Québec. Les PAB sont au coeur des soins prodigués dans les milieux gériatriques. L’asthme est une maladie qui touche environ 9 % de la population canadienne. Vingt pour cent des cas d’asthme sont aggravés par l’environnement de travail. On appelle cette condition l’asthme relié au travail (ART). Cependant, les cas d’ART sont souvent sous-diagnostiqués. Chaque année, de nombreux travailleurs ont de la difficulté à retourner au travail en raison d'une incapacité. L’incapacité au travail due à un problème de santé, lorsqu’elle persiste dans le temps, a des répercussions importantes pour les travailleurs, mais aussi pour leurs employeurs. Bien qu’il existe des interventions reconnues efficaces pour favoriser la reprise du travail, une des barrières est liée à la capacité du clinicien à établir une relation soutenante avec la personne en absence. Il existe une approche de communication qui soutient la relation, mais celle-ci est encore peu implantée dans la pratique courante en réadaptation.

OBJECTIVE: Health care workers are at risk for work-related asthma, which may be affected by changes in cleaning practices. We examined associations of cleaning tasks and products with work-related asthma in health care workers in 2016, comparing them with prior results from 2003.

METHODS: We estimated asthma prevalence by professional group and explored associations of self-reported asthma with job-exposure matrix-based cleaning tasks/products in a representative Texas sample of 9914 physicians, nurses, respiratory/occupational therapists, and nurse aides.

However, the correlation between ERI and SHS is unclear. Approximately 2 billion people globally have limited access to essential medicines, particularly those living in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). In addition, there is a higher prevalence of substandard and counterfeit medicines in LMICs, which may cause antimicrobial resistance and therapeutic failure. Good manufacturing practice (GMP) is key to ensuring access to high-quality, safe and effective medicines, including active pharmaceutical ingredients and excipients used for manufacturing finished dosage forms. Compliance with GMP standards saves resources for both manufacturers (e.g. avoiding expensive product recalls) and governments (e.g. minimising compliance inspections). Radiation-induced cataracts (RICs) represent a significant public health challenge, particularly impacting individuals exposed to ionizing radiation (IR) through medical treatments, occupational settings, and environmental factors. Effective therapeutic strategies require a deep understanding of the mechanisms underlying RIC formation (RICF). This study investigates the roles of angiotensin II (Ang II) and oxidative stress in RIC development, with a focus on their combined effects on lens transparency and cellular function. Objective The aim of the study was to identify determinants of mental health in healthcare workers (HCW) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods A cohort of Canadian HCW completed four questionnaires giving details of work with patients, ratings of workplace supports, a mental health questionnaire, and substance use. Principal components were extracted from 23 rating scales. Risk factors were examined by Poisson regression. Results A total of 4854 (97.8%) of 4964 participants completed ratings and mental health questionnaires. Healthcare workers working with patients with COVID-19 had high anxiety and depression scores. Earplugs are used in various critical industrial sectors, such as construction, aviation, military and defense, transportation, and healthcare. However, they present inherent drawbacks, notably discomfort that can lead to inconsistent and incorrect use, thereby leaving a significant proportion of workers vulnerable to irreversible hearing damage, ranging from tinnitus to deafness. Objectives: To investigate changes in risk of infection and mental distress in healthcare workers (HCWs) relative to the community as the COVID-19 pandemic progressed. Methods: HCWs in Alberta, Canada, recruited to an interprovincial cohort, were asked consent to link to Alberta’s administrative health database (AHDB) and to information on COVID-19 immunization and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing. Those consenting were matched to records of up to five community referents (CRs). Physician diagnoses of COVID-19 were identified in the AHDB from the start of the pandemic to 31 March 2022.
