Objectives: The aim of this in-vitro study is to assess and compare the load capacity of teeth with canals prepared using progressive taper versus regressive taper.

Methods: Twenty-seven extracted mandibular molars were categorized into three equal groups. The negative control group involved teeth that were accessed and restored with composite resin without canal preparation. The regressive canal preparation group used the TruNatomy file system, while the progressive canal preparation group employed the ProTaper Gold system. Subsequently, all samples underwent loading using a universal testing machine until tooth fracture occurred. The force required to fracture each tooth was recorded in Newton. …

Aim: to assess and compare the quality of root canal obturation using AH Plus and GuttaFlow 2 in patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis. Materials and methods: This randomized clinical trial included 50 participants with mandibular molars diagnosed with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis. Participants were randomly assigned to two groups: the AH Plus group (RBS) and the GuttaFlow 2 group (SBS). Clinical procedures included local anesthesia, access cavity preparation under a surgical microscope, rubber dam isolation, and root canal preparation using the ProTaper Gold system. Background: Periodontal disease constitutes a widely prevalent category of non-communicable diseases and ranks among the top 10 causes of disability worldwide. Little however is known about diagnostic errors in dentistry. In this work, by retrospectively deploying an electronic health record (EHR)-based trigger tool, followed by gold standard manual review, we provide epidemiological estimates on the rate of diagnostic misclassification in dentistry through a periodontal use case.

This column addresses whether a dental practice can hire a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to administer anesthesia. A CRNA can be hired if the requirements of Michigan's MCL 333.17210 and the Michigan Administrative Code are met. The CRNA must have sufficient experience or advanced degrees and work collaboratively in a patient-centered care team. The dental office must have policies for immediate clinical response, and all involved personnel must be certified in basic cardiac life support. Additional rules apply depending on the sedation level provided.

Tissue engineering has significantly progressed in developing full-thickness oral mucosa constructs designed to replicate the natural oral mucosa. These constructs serve as valuable in vitro models for biocompatibility. testing and oral disease modeling and hold clinical potential for replacing damaged or lost oral soft tissue. Purpose: To develop a no-code artificial intelligence (AI) model capable of identifying primary proximal surface caries using bitewings among pediatric patients.

Methods: One hundred bitewing radiographs acquired at pediatric dental clinics were anonymized and reviewed. The inclusion criteria encompassed bitewing radiographs of adequate diagnostic quality of primary and mixed-dentition stages. The exclusion criteria included artifacts related to sensors’ quality, positioning errors, and motion. Sixty-six bitewing radiographs were selected. Images were uploaded to LandingLens™, a no-code AI platform. A calibrated consensus panel determined the presence or absence of proximal caries lesions on all surfaces (using ground truth labeling). Objective: his study analyzed the population differences in Javanese and Chinese-Indonesian populations through observations of the incisal traits, namely winging, shoveling, and double shoveling.
