Treatment Of Moderate Dental Fluorosis Using Porcelain Laminate Veneers: A Case Report, Ketmanee Kruetongsri, Chalermpol Leevailoj

Objective The purpose of this article was to demonstrate the preliminary report of bonding ability of porcelain laminate veneers to fluorosed teeth after 1 year. Materials and methods The clinical findings on this patient were dental fluorosis of Thylstrup- Fejerskov Index (TFI) = 5-7. The treatment plan was to place 16 PLVs. Study models showed that the teeth were in good proportion. Wax-up models were used for silicone index. The incisal edge reductions were a feather incisal edge in maxillary teeth and an incisal bevel preparation in mandibular teeth. Objective This study investigated patterns of tooth deformation in response to immersion in hot and cold water, and attempted to correlate the measured dimensional change with calculated values based on coefficients of thermal expansion. Materials and methods The extent of cuspal deformation and strains within dentine were assessed in extracted human molars, in response to immersion in hot and cold water. Factors Related To Turnover Intention Among Thai Dentists, Chanchai Hosanguan

Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate factors associated with turnover intention of Thai dentists. Materials and methods A mailed survey was conducted on a systematic random sample of 2,723 Thai dentists, 733 of which returned completed questionnaires. Turnover intention was assessed by dentistsû intenion to change job or have a career break within 5 years. Demographic, economic, practice characteristic and psychosocial work environment factors were used to build three logistic models for the public and private sectors, as well as for the overall sample. ความชุกและปัจจัยที่สัมพันธ์กับการเกิดอาการ เท็มโพโรแมนดิบิวลาร์ดิสออเดอร์ในกลุ่มนักดําน้ําไทยกลุ่มหนึ่ง, พนมพร วานิชชานนท์, ถนอมศรี อนันตวรณิชย์, ธีรนุช สัณหรัต, สิรินาถ มนัสไพบูลย์

วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อสํารวจความชุกของอาการของเท็มโพโรแมนดิบิวลาร์ดิสออเดอร์ (ทีเอ็มดี) ในกลุ่มนักดําน้ํา สกูบาไทย และหาปัจจัยเกี่ยวข้องที่สัมพันธ์กับการเกิดอาการเหล่านั้นหลังดําน้ํา วัสดุและวิธีการ กลุ่มตัวอย่างเป็นนักดําน้ําไทยที่ได้จากการคัดเลือกแบบเจาะจง 280 ราย โดยให้ตอบ แบบสอบถามที่เกี่ยวกับอาการที่เอ็มดีทั้งในชีวิตประจําวันก่อนดําน้ํา ขณะดําน้ํา และหลังดําน้ํา รวมถึงคําถาม เกี่ยวกับปัจจัยต่าง ๆ ที่อาจสัมพันธ์กับการเกิดอาการที่เอ็มดี วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้สถิติเชิงพรรณาและการ วิเคราะห์ถดถอยพหุแบบลอจิสติก ผลการศึกษา ความชุกของอาการที่เอ็มดี (อย่างน้อย 2 อย่างขึ้นไป) หลังดําน้ําคิดเป็นร้อยละ 22.9 โดย อาการเมื่อยขากรรไกรพบได้มากที่สุด (ร้อยละ 26.4) รองลงมา คือ ปวดข้อต่อขากรรไกร (ร้อยละ 21.8) และ ปวดกล้ามเนื้อขากรรไกร (ร้อยละ 15.0) แต่มีเพียงร้อยละ 1.9 ที่รายงานว่า อาการผิดปกตินี้รุนแรงถึงกับต้องหยุด ดําน้ํา ในขณะที่ร้อยละ 96.3 อาการผิดปกติค่อย ๆ ดีขึ้นเองโดยไม่ต้องรับการรักษา ปัจจัยที่สัมพันธ์กับการเกิด อาการหลังดําน้ําอย่างมีนัยสําคัญ (p < 0.05) ได้แก่ การมีชีวิตที่เคร่งเครียด (OR-2.27; 95% CI: 1.10-4.69) และมีอาการที่เอ็มดีอย่างน้อย 1 อย่างก่อนการดําน้ํา (OR-4.06, 95% CI: 2.13-7.76) ส่วนอายุ การนอนกัดฟัน การกัดเน้นฟัน ประวัติการจัดฟัน ผ่าฟันคุด การบาดเจ็บที่ขากรรไกร-ใบหน้า และความกังวลในขณะดําน้ํา ไม่มี ความสัมพันธ์อย่างมีนัยสําคัญกับการรายงานอาการที่เอ็มดีหลังดําน้ํา สรุป อาการที่เอ็มดีหลังดําน้ําพบได้ในกลุ่มนักดําน้ําไทย แต่อาการที่เกิดขึ้นมักไม่รุนแรงและหายได้เอง ปัจจัยที่ สําคัญในการเกิดอาการผิดปกติเหล่านั้น คือ มีชีวิตที่เคร่งเครียด และปรากฏอาการที่เอ็มดีอย่างน้อยหนึ่งอาการก่อนการดำนํ้า (ว ทันต จุฬาฯ 2555;35:15-26)

การสังเคราะห์และศึกษาลักษณะของโครงค้ํายันคอลลาเจนที่สกัดจากหนังสุกรผสมไฮดรอกซีอะพาไทต์, สุคันธา เผือกนาโพธิ์, ฉันทวัฒน์ สุทธิบุณยพันธ์, สมพร สวัสดิสรรพ์

วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อสังเคราะห์และศึกษาลักษณะของโครงค้ํายันคอลลาเจนที่สกัดจากหนังสุกรผสมไฮดรอกซีอะพาไทต์สําหรับการนําไปใช้เป็นโครงค้ํายันในการชักนําให้เกิดการซ่อมแซมกระดูก วัสดุและวิธีการ คอลลาเจนที่ใช้ในการเตรียมโครงค้ํายันในการศึกษานี้ สกัดได้จากการละลายหนังสุกรในกรด ร่วมกับเอนไซม์ และตกตะกอนด้วยเกลือ นําคอลลาเจนที่สกัดได้มาทําเป็นสารละลายที่มีความเข้มข้น ร้อยละ 1.5 ร้อยละ 2 และร้อยละ 2.5 โดยน้ําหนักตามลําดับ แล้วผสมเข้ากับผลึกไฮดรอกซีอะพาไทต์ ในอัตราส่วนไฮดรอกซี อะพาไทต์ต่อสารละลายคอลลาเจน 1:10 (น้ําหนักต่อปริมาตร) สารผสมของคอลลาเจนและไฮดรอกซีอะพาไทต์ ถูกทําให้เป็นโครงค้ํายันที่มีลักษณะคล้ายฟองน้ําด้วยการแช่แข็งและอบแห้งเยือกแข็งเป็นเวลา 24 ชั่วโมง โดยใช้ อุณหภูมิในการแช่แข็งแตกต่างกัน 2 กลุ่ม คือ กลุ่มที่ทําให้อุณหภูมิแช่แข็งต่ําลงอย่างช้า ๆ และกลุ่มที่ทําให้ อุณหภูมิแช่แข็งต่ําลงอย่างรวดเร็ว จากนั้นทําให้โครงค้ํายันคอลลาเจนคงตัวด้วยการทําปฏิกิริยาเชื่อมขวางศึกษาลักษณะโครงสร้างโดยละเอียดของโครงค้ํายันคอลลาเจนที่สังเคราะห์ภายใต้สภาวะแตกต่างกันด้วยกล้องจุลทรรศน์อิเล็กตรอนชนิดส่องกราด และศึกษาขนาดของรูพรุนด้วยกล้องจุลทรรศน์ชนิดแสงขาว วิเคราะห์ ความแตกต่างของขนาดรูพรุนด้วยวิธีการทางสถิติ ผลการศึกษา โครงค้ํายันคอลลาเจนที่สังเคราะห์ขึ้นด้วยวิธีการดังกล่าว มีลักษณะคล้ายฟองน้ํา กดนิ่ม สีขาว ไม่มีกลิ่นและละลายน้ําได้อย่างรวดเร็ว และเมื่อผ่านการทําปฏิกิริยาเชื่อมขวางแล้ว โครงค้ํายันมีความคงตัว มากขึ้น จากการศึกษาด้วยกล้องจุลทรรศน์อิเล็กตรอนชนิดส่องกราดพบว่าโครงค้ํายันมีลักษณะเป็นรูพรุน ประกอบด้วยแผ่นที่เกิดจากการอัดแน่นของเส้นใยคอลลาเจนจํานวนมากสานกันไปมา โดยมีผลึกของไฮดรอกซีอะพาไทต์ติดอยู่ที่ผนังของรูพรุนเหล่านี้ จากการศึกษาเปรียบเทียบลักษณะของโครงค้ํายันที่เตรียมภายใต้สภาวะแตกต่างกัน (P>0.05) ในขณะที่โครงค้ํายันที่ผลิตจากคอลลาเจนที่มีความเข้มข้นเดียวกัน แต่เตรียมภายใต้สภาวะ แช่แข็งต่างกัน มีขนาดของรูพรุนแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติ (p < 0.05) กล่าวคือ โครงค้ํายันที่ใช้ อุณหภูมิแช่แข็งต่ําลงอย่างช้า ๆ ขนาดเฉลี่ยของรูพรุนใหญ่กว่าโครงค้ํายันที่ใช้อุณหภูมิแช่แข็งต่ําลงอย่างรวดเร็ว สรุป คอลลาเจนที่สกัดได้จากหนังสุกร เมื่อนําไปผสมกับไฮดรอกซีอะพาไทต์ สามารถนําไปผลิตเป็นโครงค้ํายันที่ คงตัวได้ด้วยวิธีอบแห้งเยือกแข็งร่วมกับการทําปฏิกิริยาเชื่อมขวาง โดยลักษณะและขนาดของรูพรุนโครงค้ํายันคอลลาเจนผสมไฮดรอกซีอะพาไทต์ มีความสัมพันธ์กับความเร็วในการลดต่ําลงของอุณหภูมิในการแช่แข็ง แต่ไม่สัมพันธ์กับความเข้มข้นของสารละลายคอลลาเจนที่ใช้ในการสังเคราะห์ (ว ทันต จุฬาฯ 2555;35:1-14)

Orthodontic tooth movement is a biological response to a mechanical force. One of the challenges in orthodontics is obtaining desired tooth movement during treatment. Accelerating tooth movement and decreasing demands on anchorage can reduce treatment times and overall satisfaction for patient and doctor. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine if vital tooth whitening affects oral health-related quality of life (OHRQOL) in adults age 50 years and older, and if tooth whitening causes increased participation in social activities.

Methods: Using a 2 group, single blind, randomized, pre-test, multiple post-test design, 62 participants were enrolled. The experimental group used a whitening product twice daily for 3 weeks. The control group used no whitening products. The Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP) served as the pre- and post-test measure. Introduction: It has been established that gingival inflammation is exacerbated during puberty, in women taking oral contraceptives, and during pregnancy. Increased levels of sex hormones are implicated in the changes in periodontal conditions.
