Extraction or non-extraction is an issue that we face in our daily orthodontic practice. Before deciding the treatment plan, we have to examine the case carefully. Orthodontic tooth extraction involves more than just the need to create space in the arches but also the concerns of facial esthetics and treatment stability. The report presented a case of teenage boy with severe external root resorption of tooth 27, 37, 46, 47 which caused by impaction of third molars and a supernumerary premolar. The oral cavity harbors hundreds of microbial species that are present either as planktonic cells or incorporated into biofilms. The majority of the oral microbes are commensal organisms. Those that are pathogenic microbes can result in oral infections, and at times can initiate systemic diseases. Biofilms that contain pathogens are challenging to control. Many conventional antimicrobials have proven to be ineffective. Recent advances in science and technology are providing new approaches for pathogen control and containment and methods to characterize biofilms. Objectives: This study aimed to determine the association of rs2430561 and rs4073 polymorphisms in the Interferon gamma (IFN-ɤ) and Interleukin 8 (IL-8) genes, respectively, with hepatitis C virus-related oral lichen planus and disease severity. Design: This is a case-control study. 60 subjects were equally divided into patients with and without oral lichen planus. They were further subdivided into hepatitis C virus seropositive and seronegative patients. All patients were genotyped for IFN-γ rs2430561 thymine to adenine (T > A) and IL-8 rs4073 adenine to thymine (A > T) polymorphisms. Various bone augmentation strategies have been proposed to overcome the anatomic and physiologic limitations of implant placement in patients with atrophic edentulous ridges. The use of short implants may provide an alternative treatment to avoid complications associated with alveolar bone augmentation. However, the clinical effectiveness of short implants versus long implants was not thoroughly investigated. This report illustrates a 20 years old female presented a Class II division 2 malocclusion with deep overbite, gummy smile, canted maxillary anterior occlusal plane, low mandibular plane angle and bilateral scissors-bite. Angle's Class II division 2 malocclusion needs to be treated by correcting the inclination of maxillary incisors and lower lip posture. Selective bonding of maxillary anterior teeth and molars were performed to level the occlusal plane and gingival line, thus creating a consonant smile arc. A novel material incorporating nanoparticles could be useful in combating bacterial biofilms and improving long-term success rates in endodontic therapies.
