Objective: This laboratory study was conducted to evaluate the effect of different bevel designs (2mm bevel, skirt bevel and scalloped bevel) on microleakage and shear bond strength of class IV composite restorations. Materials and Methods: Sixty extracted human permanent maxillary central incisors were selected and a standardized mesio-incisal fracture was created. Teeth were divided into 3 groups (n=20) according to different bevel designs (2mm bevel, skirt bevel and scalloped bevel). BACKGROUND: Nance-Horan syndrome (NHS) is a rare X-linked genetic disorder characterized by ophthalmologic and dental anomalies as well as dysmorphic facies. The clinical phenotype in males includes congenital cataracts, vision loss, microcornea, nystagmus, microphthalmia, glaucoma, screwdriver blade-shaped incisors, supernumerary maxillary incisors, diastema, delays, intellectual disability, and dysmorphic facies. With the evolution of array-CGH technology, a total of five kindreds with NHS have been reported in the medical literature with microdeletions encompassing the NHS gene rather than sequencing variants.

Objective: Comparing EMLA cream versus mucosal vibration or pre-cooling systems as preanesthetic techniques to reduce pain associated with dental injection in children. Antibiotic stewardship is an integral practice for the dental team to ensure a safe dental visit for patients. Now, with clinical practice guidelines and state toolkits, more dentists are aware of and actively practicing antibiotic stewardship. With the application of antibiotic stewardship practices, dentists are identifying the need for additional tools to enhance practice. For example, one need that has been identified is a tool for screening patients for true penicillin allergies. Statement of problem: The most common mechanical complication reported regarding the implant abutment is screw loosening attributed to masticatory forces and insufficient preload torque.

AIM: The goal was to use a deep convolutional neural network to measure the radiographic alveolar bone level to aid periodontal diagnosis.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: A deep learning (DL) model was developed by integrating three segmentation networks (bone area, tooth, cemento-enamel junction) and image analysis to measure the radiographic bone level and assign radiographic bone loss (RBL) stages. The percentage of RBL was calculated to determine the stage of RBL for each tooth. A provisional periodontal diagnosis was assigned using the 2018 periodontitis classification. Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of using digital bitewing imaging technique for the diagnosis of dental cracks. Materials and Methods: In this study, 60 specimens of extracted human teeth were collected. Teeth were divided into two equal groups; control group and study group. Cracks were artificially created on the study group by repeated thermal cycling method using boiled water and liquid nitrogen. This 10-Minute EBD column critically evaluates the outcomes of digital scans versus conventional impressions in fabricating single-unit crowns, focusing on factors such as marginal and internal fit. Employing a PICO question and a literature search pathway via PubMed, the analysis includes systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Findings suggest that crowns from digital scans generally exhibit clinically acceptable marginal and internal fit, often outperforming conventional impressions. However, heterogeneity in study samples and methodologies contributes to varied results. While digital scans meet the standard of care, ongoing research is essential for a comprehensive understanding of the evolving landscape in digital prosthodontics.

Narrow diameter implants and mini-implants are preferred by dentists for restoration of missing teeth on narrow ridges. However, such implants are associated with long-term complications including soft tissue deficiencies. This case report describes a novel approach using a connective tissue graft to resolve peri-implant mucositis. A 66-year old male patient presented with inflammation and abscess in relation to a mini-implant, at the upper left incisor, on the facial aspect. Deficiencies of keratinized tissue and width of attached gingiva were observed. Surgical management was performed using subepithelial connective tissue.
