Effect Of Root Canal Sealer Type On Obturation Density: An In Vitro Comparison Of Ah Plus, Bioactive Rcs, Novel Bioactive Glass-Based Bioceramic Sealer, And Zinc Oxide Eugenol, Poulomi Guha, Pradeep Solete, Nishitha Arun, Praveen Kumar Elango, Sanyukta Singh

International Arab Journal of Dentistry

Objectives: To compare the obturation density of four root canal sealers—AH Plus, Bioactive RCS, a novel bioactive glass-based bioceramic sealer, and zinc oxide eugenol (ZOE) using a standardized single-cone obturation technique.

Methods: Forty extracted premolars were endodontically prepared to a 15 mm working length and divided into four groups (n=10). Each group was obturated with the same F2-sized guttapercha cones and one of the sealers being evaluated. Weight variations pre-obturation and postobturation, and after complete sealer setting were used to calculate obturation density. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey’s post hoc test (p < 0.05) to test for group differences.

Objective: Tooth fusion is an uncommon dental abnormality, occurring in 0.1% of permanent dentition. Fusion of a normal permanent tooth and a supernumerary tooth is unusual. This case report delineates a multidisciplinary strategy for the management of a child with a fused tooth and a concomitant supernumerary tooth. Access to dental care remains a significant public health challenge for people in rural and low-income communities. Tele dentistry has shown the ability to expand preventive services, improve care coordination, and reduce geographic barriers. However, inconsistent Medicaid coverage, limited infrastructure, and low provider participation restrict its impact. The main recommendation is standardizing Medicaid tele dentistry coverage and reimbursement across states to improve access and equity. Action is needed now to preserve post–COVID-19 telehealth gains and address persistent oral health disparities.

This study assessed the prevalence profile of aphthous ulcers, risk factors, levels of perceived stress, and their impact on quality of life in an Egyptian sample. A single-unit, screw-retained fixed partial denture or crown, made for a dental implant, may show food impaction between the screw-retained crown and an inter-proximal tooth surface. This restorative error may be due to an open contact or a large interproximal embrasure space volume between the screw-retained prosthesis and an interproximal tooth surface. Food impaction may also occur due to the contact plane of the restoration being parallel with the contact plane of the neighboring tooth instead of a more correct contact plane geometry where both interproximal contact planes converge slightly towards each other to form a “triangular” embrasure space. Periodontal treatment modalities have evolved substantially to evidence-based minimally invasive treatment options. Lasers have proved to be an effective tool by providing a myriad of benefits and advantages while eliminating many of the negative sequelae that have been historically associated with conventional pocket elimination surgery. Laser-assisted new attachment procedure (LANAP) is a well-defined treatment protocol that has been validated with human histology and has demonstrated both short- and long-term success. LANAP has proven to be an effective, safe and predictable treatment option for achieving regeneration and new attachment formation, leading to favorable clinical outcomes, improved patient compliance and acceptability.

Patients often present to our practices with dental relapse of previous orthodontic treatment. Many times, the underlying skeletal and/or functional problems leading to the malocclusion were not addressed, causing the teeth to revert to their initial positions, even with good retainer wear. This patient presented with a severe lateral open bite and complained of problems chewing on his right side.

Previous orthodontic treatment with fixed orthodontics appliances and vertical elastics proved to be unstable. Despite these advantages, limited evidence is available regarding their long-term fatigue behavior and fracture resistance.

Material and methods: In this in vitro experimental study conducted at São Paulo State University (UNESP), Brazil, forty implants were divided into two groups (n = 20): zirconia implants (ZZ) and titanium implants (TZ) (4.1 × 10 mm). To evaluate the long-term effect of ammonia- and water-based silver fluoride treatments on the degradation of the dentin collagen matrix.

Methods

Dentin beams (0.3x3x7mm) were demineralized (10 % H₃PO₄), rinsed and randomly distributed into six groups. Groups (n = 10 beams/group) were treated with (1) ammonia-based silver fluoride = SDF; (2) SDF + potassium iodide = KI (3) water-based silver fluoride = SF (4) SF + KI (5) KI (6) untreated demineralized dentin beams served as control.
