Purpose Disaster victim identification (DVI) service requires knowledge, confidence, and an attitude (KCA) of readiness. The purpose of this study was to assess allied dental students’ perceived KCA regarding DVI skills and topics.

Methods A convenience sample of senior dental hygiene students (n=27) and senior dental assistant students (n=14) were recruited by email then presented mismatched simulated antemortem (AM) and postmortem (PM) bitewing radiographs and asked to indicate correct matches. Collectively, participants made 205 radiographic matches and indicated 205 degrees of certainty binarily as “positive” or “possible” (one per match). Presentation summary: The speakers focused on signs and symptoms of TMD that may be familiar and many that are commonly overlooked. This insight provides an opportunity to better identify and treat patients suffering from TMD. Various treatment methodologies were discussed with an emphasis on the concept of neuromuscular dentistry. Neuromuscular treatment of TMD involves identifying the mandibular position that corresponds to relaxed muscles of the anterior temporalis, masseters, and sternocleidomastoids. The benefit of the new TMJ position is confirmed using a custom orthotic and definitive treatment may involve long-term orthotic wear, dental reconstruction, or orthodontic treatment. The North Dakota school-based sealant program (SEAL!ND) prioritizes providing preventive oral health care to underserved students by targeting schools with 45% or greater of their students enrolled in the free and reduced fee school lunch program (these are considered qualifying schools). Although schools with a larger proportion of youth who are from lower-income households are prioritized by federal funding, additional schools participate and receive care from local dental providers (these are referred to as non-qualifying). During the 2022-23 school year, 58 schools participated in SEAL!ND; 40 qualifying schools (Q) and 18 non-qualifying (NQ); 55 of the 58 schools had two …

Aim of the study: The aim of this study is to evaluate periodontal health status of the hemodialysis (HD) patients and to examine the relation between Russel periodontal index (RPI) and laboratory and inflammatory markers and nutritional status in this group of patients.

Objective: To evaluate the root dentine microhardness after using calcium hydroxide (Ca (OH)2) intracanal medicament. Materials and methods: Forty single-rooted teeth were sectioned at the cemento-enamel junction level and the root canals were prepared till apical size of #30. The prepared teeth were divided into 2 groups (n=20): no medicament (control) group and Ca (OH)2 group. After seven days, medicaments were removed using standardized volume of irrigation. Purpose: This study was established to compare Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) versus Placental Extract Gel on delayed implant placement.

Patient and Methods: Sixteen patients aged from 35-45 years were selected for that study. Split mouth design was performed, placing PFR on one side of the mouth while placing placental extract gel on the other side of the mouth during implant insertion. We have third grade students in North Dakota whose dental care needs are not being met. Programs, providers, and initiatives need to focus on providing equal access to preventive dental care supplies and educational resources to support good dental hygiene. Children attending schools where more than 50% of the students are eligible for the national school lunch program (NSLP) have a significantly higher need for early or urgent dental care and a higher rate of rampant decay compared to those attending schools with less than 50% of students eligible for the NSLP

Objectives:Frequency of emergency department (ED) use for nontraumatic dental conditions (NTDC) is a well-researched community health concern. However, research predominately relies on ambulatory ED discharge records. This explanatory sequential mixed methods study reviewed NTDC ED use in hot-spot counties and assessed perceptions around preventable and appropriate use among EDs and dental clinics.

Methods:Tooth pain data (2015-2021) were drawn from State Medicaid, and the Early Notification of Community-Based Epidemics (ESSENCE). NTDC data were compiled using International Classification of Disease, Ninth and Tenth Revisions. Employing extreme case sampling, providers in counties with the highest per-capita NTDC ED use were interviewed.

Objective: To compare the accuracy between complete denture impressions made on digitally constructed and conventionally constructed custom trays with two impression materials.

Materials and Methods: Eight completely edentulous patients were selected; intra oral scanning was done for all patients to record digital impression and saved in standard tessellation language. The scanned data was imported to 3D printer to fabricate digital cast and was imported to custom tray design software to design the special tray. This is partially due to the fact that Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) have used different combinations of treatment approaches to test this hypothesis. In this meta-analysis of RCTs, we assessed the impact of treating PD during pregnancy with scaling and root planning (SRP) and mouthwash use on PTB and LBW.

Purpose: There has been an increase in the number of persons identifying as LGBTQ+ in the United States. LQBTQ+ individuals are also subject to social stigmas and discrimination which create barriers to obtaining quality healthcare. Providers may harbor implicit or unconscious biases which may negatively affect their ability to provide impartial health or oral healthcare. An awareness of biases early in education may promote equitable care and increase quality of oral healthcare delivered to diverse populations.
