The purpose of this workshop is to increase your perception of how children speak to us and we speak to them through the language of behavior. Discussion will focus on causes and sources of misbehavior, expression of feelings and emotions and degrees of disciplinary action and intervention. Case studies will be utilized enabling you to make observations of motivation, development and relationships with peers and adults. Emphasis will be placed on aiding a child to gain self-control, responsibility and independence through reasonable guidelines.

The Center for Applied Urban Research provides professional services in applied research, training, and community service. Primarily these services are provided to state provided and local governmental units in Nebraska, though some activities may be national or international in scope. To a lesser extent, services are provided to private groups and agencies. CAUR, a unit within the College of Public Affairs and Community Service at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, was initially established in 1963 as the Urban Studies Center at the Municipal University of Omaha.

The original report on which this article is based resulted from research conducted by CAUR for the Nebraska Mexican American Commission with funding from the Nebraska Commission on Aging. Dr. DiMartino and Carole M. Davis were co-investigators for the project and co-authored the lengthier report. The cooperation and assistance provided by so many members of the Hispanic communities in Lincoln, Omaha, and Scottsbluff made the study possible.

By using the teaching process outlined on the left of each page in the instructor's guide, the instructor is creating the best learning situation for this program. The teaching process outline tells the instructor what to do. The content outline, on the right of each page, tells the instructor what to say. The handouts, which immediately follow the instructor's guide, are mechanisms to reinforce the knowledge and to provide opportunities for participants to practice some of the procedures. The handouts are designed to be permanent reference materials for the participants.

The purpose of this report is to present an analysis of the responses to a questionnaire completed by 196 girls attending the Girls Club program during August, 1980. The questionnaire was developed and administered by Junior League volunteers. See the Appendix for a copy of the questionnaire and the frequency distribution of responses.

This study examines the social and economic framework of the Nubian com­munity in an atterrpt to discover whether, in fact, the Nubian community cur­rently maintains its sense of social solidarity within a societary context of social change and, if so, how and to what degree this is accomplished. One aspect of this study to be presented in this monograph is the adjustments of Nubian families to the urban condition of Cairo.

The sample of public and private employers in the four county area was selected by classifying all employers into categories or strata based on the number of employees. These were sampled at varying rates with greater emphasis given larger employers. All employers selected were sent a questionnaire, and follow-up phone calls were made to all non-respondents.

In 1908 the National Association of Building Owners and Managers was organized. The 1979 membership form of the local affiliate group stated, "Most lines of business discovered years ago that it pays to organize. The office building business was one of the first to demonstrate the value of collective thought and action." In 1969 at the annual convention of the organization, the name was changed to BOMA International.

This study examines the interplay between two sets of variables in Mo­rocco: population dynamics and urbanization. Its ultimate aim is to prov­ide a solid empirical and conceptual basis for the fonnulation of sound pol­icies for the implementation of a balanced, synchronized development progran. The chief task of the present work is to address the situation in Morocco following the colonial experience. Population and migratory patterns are analyzed within this context to detennine their role in the creation of the present situation of disequilibrium.

Tables 1 through 7 present the data base prepared by the Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER). Each of the basic variables which were requested--population, average household size, employment, and per capita income--are included in the tables. The basic difference from the PNM data base is the provision of more area-specific data. Smaller geographic units (specifically, census county divisions and enumeration districts) were employed to define the service areas and provide more area-specific information.

The purpose of this portion of the study is to determine the employment and training needs in Metropolitan Omaha for the occupational area designated as automotive mechanics. The automotive trade was divided into four major areas: 1) general automotive mechanics, including brakes and engine rebuilding, 2) service station mechanics, 3) new/used car preparation, and 4) auto machinists.

In the summer of 1979, the Center for Applied Urban Research undertook a study of leadership patterns and styles in Nebraska communities with populations of 2,500 to 5,000. Although that study focused its primary efforts on developing linkages between training programs and community development, the data provide some useful information related to the leadership structure of these communities. These data, describing the individuals who comprise the leadership structure in the study communities, are the focus of this article.

The successful delivery of human services requires rational program planning. Rational program planning, in turn, requires evaluation of 1) the needs of targeted client groups, 2) the availability of established services to the potential clients, and 3) the utilization of available services by the client population(s). The success of human service delivery systems, therefore, must incorporate the assessment of public programs in terms of the correspondence between client needs and service provision and usage.

One purpose of this study was to assess how well Metropolitan Technical Community College is performing its mission of meeting the public's need for vocational education. This was measured, in part, by conducting a survey of the general public in each of the four counties the College serves, as well as the immediate neighborhood around each of its current or proposed campuses.

The second purpose of this study, to be discussed partially in the next chapter of this report, was to determine the vocational education needs and the continuing education interests of the respondents in these samples.
