This study aims to analyze the determinants of poverty vulnerability in South Sulawesi by integrating spatial dimensions into risk estimation models. Using micro-data from the March 2024 National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) with individuals as the unit of analysis, this study applies the Vulnerability as Expected Poverty (VEP) and Local Indicator of Spatial Association (LISA) methods, estimated through an integrated logistic regression model. Empirical results indicate that while the average vulnerability is relatively low, risk distribution is highly concentrated in specific regional clusters. This study investigates whether Indonesia’s 2019 Marriage Law reform, which raised the minimum legal age of marriage to 19, has been associated with lower child marriage prevalence. Using province-level aggregates from the 2022 Indonesian National Socio-Economic Survey (SUSENAS, N = 1,237,946), we distinguish documented and undocumented unions and estimate Ordinary Least Squares models with controls for poverty, education, assets, rural residence, religious composition, and marriage dispensations. Descriptive maps show prevalence is highest in South Kalimantan (18%), East Java (17%), and West Java (17%), with undocumented unions concentrated in West Nusa Tenggara (7%), Banten (5%), Papua (5%), and West Sulawesi (5%). …

Pekerja anak merupakan isu krusial yang memerlukan penanganan segera untuk mendukung pencapaian target pembangunan global. Pengentasan isu ini menuntut ketersediaan data yang akurat hingga wilayah kecil guna mendukung perumusan kebijakan yang tepat sasaran. Male participation in contraceptive use in Indonesia remains very low, while women continue to bear a disproportionate reproductive burden, including mental health impacts from contraceptive side effects. This study aims to examine the effect of husbands’ contraceptive use on wives’ mental health. The analysis utilizes data from the fifth wave of the Indonesia Family Life Survey conducted in 2014. Wives’ mental health is measured using the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale - 10. This study aims to analyze the impact of maternal employment status and job type on children's literacy skills in Indonesia, using data from the 2023 National Socioeconomic Survey (SUSENAS) and a binary logistic regression approach. The results show that working mothers, particularly those in the formal sector, are positively and significantly correlated with children's literacy, especially in non-poor households. These findings highlight the important role of maternal employment contribution in strengthening educational investment within families. In contrast, among poor households, formal employment of mothers does not significantly influence children's literacy, indicating that economic constraints remain a major barrier. In addition, …

Abstract This paper analyzes the relationship between power relations, development, and environmental crisis in Central Halmahera, North Maluku, a region that has undergone socio-ecological changes due to the expansion of extractive industries, especially nickel mining. Such development is controlled by state actors and corporations, creating unequal power relations in which local communities are often marginalized. This development model based on natural resource extraction resulting in ecosystem degradation, water pollution, and the loss of living space for indigenous peoples and coastal communities. This study analyzes the determinants of early childhood well-being in female-headed households in Indonesia using data from the 2022 National Socioeconomic Survey (SUSENAS), covering 85,074 households with children aged 0–5 years. Using binary logistic regression, the analysis focuses on four key indicators: complete immunization, food adequacy, access to improved sanitation, and access to safe drinking water. The results show that children in female-headed households are significantly less likely to receive adequate and diverse food as well as complete immunization, compared to those in male-headed households. This bibliometric analysis explores global trends, author productivity, institutional and country contributions, citation patterns, and thematic relationships in the literature linking smoking and mental health. Data from the Scopus database were retrieved using specific keyword combinations related to smoking and mental health, resulting in 1,782 eligible articles after filtering for research quality. The study examines publication trends, identifies high-impact studies, and maps thematic clusters in the field. Results indicate a notable increase in publications after 2000, driven by growing recognition of smoking's impact on mental well-being and the integration of mental health considerations in tobacco control policies. Women’s happiness can be influenced by various factors, including marital status. This study analyzes the relationship between marital status and women's happiness in Indonesia using pooled crossectional data from the Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) wave 4 & 5 in 2007 and 2014. The probit regression method is applied to estimate the impact of marital status on the probability of happiness. Results show that widowed and/or divorced women have significantly lower probabilities of happiness than married women (p-value < 0.01). In addition, the probability of being happy for women who are divorced is higher than those who are widowed (p-value < 0.1). This study also emphasizes that education has an important role in improving women's happiness. The implications of this study suggest the importance of policy interventions to improve access to education for women, particularly for those who are socially and economically vulnerable.

This study explores the intersection of environmental initiatives and social justice movements in the Philippines, a nation rich in biodiversity but acutely vulnerable to climate change and ecological degradation. Using Laudate Deum as a guiding framework, the research examines how the principles of Immediate Action, Collective Responsibility, and Social Justice can inform collaborative strategies to address these challenges. Through an analysis of case studies, this paper highlights the socio-economic impacts of environmental crises, such as deforestation and pollution, and evaluates initiatives like mangrove reforestation and community-based waste management for their ecological and social benefits. Maternal health and life during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period are very important in determining the growth and future development of the birth generation. SDG indicators express the global seriousness of this effort, aiming to reduce the maternal mortality ratio (MMR) to less than 70 per 100,000 live births by 2030. As a part of primary healthcare services, self-medication forms the cornerstone of a sustainable healthcare system supporting universal health coverage, which is targeted in Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3), target 3.8. This study aims to provide an overview of self-medication behaviors and the factors influencing them among residents of Central Java Province. In 2019-2022, the percentage of child labor in eastern Indonesia has consistently been higher than in western Indonesia. However, research specifically focusing on child labor in eastern Indonesia is limited. This study aims to examine the conditions and factors influencing child labor in eastern Indonesia. Utilizing data from the August 2022 Indonesia National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas), the study employs descriptive analysis and binary logistic regression. The high prevalence of teenage smoking in Indonesia is a serious problem. This study aims to analyze the influence of the smoking behavior of close individuals to teenagers, including parents, family, and social environment, on the smoking behavior of teenagers in Indonesia. Using the National Socioeconomic Survey (SUSENAS) 2021 Data, with a sample of 187,277 adolescent individuals. The results of this study indicate that the smoking behavior of parents, family, and a smoking environment has a significant positive influence on teenage smoking behavior. Malnutrition in children is still a problem in low and middle-income countries, including Indonesia. This research aims to assess how the mother's mental health influences the child's nutritional status, measured by stunting and underweight status, in the short term (when the child is 0-5 years old) and long-term (when the child is 7-12 years old). The problem of social segregation gains new relevance as digital technology has now become the core of people’s lives and work. Unfortunately, this factor is often neglected in studies of social segregation. Previous studies have only taken note of social and spatial segregation. This study aims to fill a conceptual gap by raising the virtual dimension within socio-spatial segregation. This research finds that virtual segregation has strengthened segregationist tendencies that follow the growth of luxurious housing complexes and gated communities. A number of studies have shown various agrarian conflicts as a response by local farmers against the policy of national parks that prohibits them from accessing conservation forest areas. However, previous studies had not explained the dynamics of power relations between park authorities and farmers who stand in opposition to these policies. This study employs a qualitative research approach complemented by secondary data to explain the transformation of farmer resistance in the Mount Halimun-Salak National Park (TNGHS) area, namely from their repertoire of everyday resistance to practices of land occupation. A slum or squatter is identified by poor quality of housing and unsanitary conditions. The common agreed explanation of the conditions is to link the rapid growth of population, poverty and environment limitations. It implies that, internal factors of the poor people was the major cause the environmental deteorization. This article is an attemp to explore another explanation.
