For Tolkien enthusiasts, the year 2022 was one of great significance. The culmination of years spent digitizing and arranging Marquette University’s collection of print manuscripts of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, and the development of a digital portal to organize the metadata around the digital artifacts, occurred in perfect timing with an exhibition of manuscripts of Tolkien’s work that was greatly enjoyed by scholars and visitors from around the world.

I trace the bibliometric evolution of “New Public Management Is Dead” by Dunleavy et al. to investigate how the seminal paper influenced the administrative reform debate. They suggested Digital-Era Governance as the main post-NPM idea. My bibliometric analysis discovers public value, administrative reform trajectories, and digital government as influential themes. Unlike Dunleavy et al., the literature found the managerial reform wave is not linear, reform ideas are supplementary, and NPM remains a major toolkit. Future research should focus on reintegration and need-based holism, linking digital government to administrative reform, and the negative impact of digital government on democracy.

This research paper investigated the information seeking behavior of college students surveying twelve colleges affiliated to the University of Delhi. Different variable sets were used to analyse the undergraduates’ reading habits, information needs, information search and information use behavior. Total 506 undergraduate students of different disciplines such as sciences, social sciences and humanities were selected as a sample applying multistage and stratified sampling techniques. The study applied SPSS, Version-25 for analysing the various aspects of the study. A number of instruments designed to measure scientific literacy exist, but none has been used to assess improvements in undergraduates’ scientific thinking over their college career. This study utilized the Test of Scientific Literacy Skills (TOSLS) in a longitudinal fashion to measure scientific thinking gains of over 800 students from matriculation to graduation at a small liberal arts college. We found the TOSLS to be a useful assessment instrument. Our results indicated rather small benefits of science general education overall, though there were larger improvements for some demographic groups (i.e., women, first-generation college students). Methods: The study was based on post-positivism research paradigm with survey research design. The UTAUT was employed as the theoretical lens underpinning the study. Background:

ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (AI) text generator trained to predict correct words, can provide answers to questions but has shown mixed results in answering medical questions.

Purpose:

To assess the reliability and accuracy of ChatGPT in providing answers to a complex clinical question.

Methods:

A Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, and Time (PICOT) formatted question was queried, along with a request for references. Full-text articles were reviewed to verify the accuracy of the evidence summary provided by the chatbot.

Results:

ChatGPT was unable to provide a certifiable response to a PICOT question. The references cited as evidence included incorrect journal …

What is a collection file, anyway? This work-in-progress summarizes the results of a sample survey of archivists to better understand the purpose, function, and contents of collection files, how archivists learn to create collection files, and their potential for public access and use. From these results, we can extrapolate a preliminary definition of the collection file, as well as the potential for future study and critical analysis of the practical elements of collection file work, especially in relation to archival accessioning, deaccessioning, and repatriation.

As part of a larger study investigating the utility of electronic decision support tools for patients with head and neck cancer (HNC), this article describes the patient experience of receiving cancer treatment in British Columbia, Canada. It aims to give voice to the patient experience and recommend a model of psychological adjustment for clinicians and clinical service management to consider to refine patient centric care pathways for HNC. Nebraska is 12% Hispanic and Latino, up from 5.5% in 2000. Latinx people in Nebraska are under-represented in archives, as intersecting identities – class, immigration status, English proficiency and more – mean they have historically appeared as subjects rather than agents. Scans of journal articles originally published in print, otherwise known as digital journal backfiles, benefit library patrons by providing near instantaneous access to important older information and full-text searchability. Digital backfiles can serve as a reliable surrogate for their corresponding print journals which could be removed from the library, freeing up space for other patron services. Both benefits are realized when the scanned articles are of sufficient clarity to replace the print versions.
