The possibility that our universe was initiated intentionally is a compelling philosophical and scientific question that can be evaluated probabilistically based on four primary considerations: fine-tuning in our universe, hypotheses about the multiverse, the likelihood that intelligent life may be able to initiate a universe, and the possibility that we live in a simulation. This paper offers an equation analogous to the noteworthy Drake equation that is intended to be used as a structured thought experiment to help identify factors related to the initiation of our universe and to facilitate examining each in terms of what we know, do not …

There is substantial research about sources of burnout among academic librarians; however, very little addresses the impact of the local environment. Responding to regional and institutional shifts while still trying to uphold the values of librarianship such as providing confidential and free access to information can quickly lead to mental, emotional, and physical exhaustion, classic symptoms of burnout. Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT have potential as student research tools, yet they generally do not cite sources or may invent them, presenting a challenge of information disconnected from any source. This presentation applied pieces of the Association of College and Research Libraries’ Framework for Information Literacy to analyze this challenge and suggest opportunities to use discussions around the use of generative AI to make students more reflective researchers and consumers of information.

The study investigated how librarians working in various university libraries in Kwara State, Nigeria, adopt and use artificial intelligence. The study raised four research goals as well as four research questions. A descriptive survey method and random sampling techniques with 450 randomly selected librarians from Kwara State Universities, Nigeria, were used for the research. Five research assistants were trained on how to contact respondents and secure their consent before distributing the structured questionnaire designed by the researcher, who assisted in the tool distribution process. This session presented the results of 113 academic librarians surveyed regarding their views on social justice advocacy. As part of a mixed-methods exploration, quantitative, qualitative, and integrated elements were revealed. Beyond a comprehensive survey administered, librarian advocates describe how they approach issues of social justice, what the benefits are of addressing inequities within academic libraries, what barriers they've encountered in their advocacy efforts and initiatives, and what advice a more experienced advocate might offer to a peer with less knowledge who is interested in becoming more involved.

A few semesters ago I was discussing the value of secondary sources with a student when they paused to think, then described secondary sources as “kind of like the 80/20 Rule, but different.” I’d never heard of the 80/20 Rule, but I jotted it down onto a Post-It note to look into later. Tangible Impact Of Literacy In Libraries And Information Undergraduate Academic Performance Skills Students At Kwara State University, Nigeria, Abdrahman Atanda Moustapha

PURPOSE: The paper examined the effect of library skills and literacy on the academic performance of undergraduate students at Kwara State University, Nigeria.

DESIGN/METHODOLOGY: A descriptive survey method and random sampling techniques were used with 150 randomly selected students for the research. A self-designed questionnaire was used to elicit responses from the respondents, and a simple percentage ratio was adapted for data analysis.

Findings: The result shows that most of the students do not have access to literacy facilities. It reveals a lack of application skills by the majority but shows the positive impact of information literacy on students' academic …

This research aims to determine research trends regarding archivists in Scopus-indexed journals. The research method used is bibliometric analysis, with data collection from the Scopus database, carried out on September 8, 2023, using the keyword "Archivist" from 2013 to 2022 and specifically for final publications with journal type. Data is processed and analyzed using Publish or Perish (PoP) and VOSviewer to display visualization results. The research results concluded that the number of publications regarding archivists in the last ten years was 1241 documents.
