Transforming library culture doesn’t come easily, especially in times of crisis and the aftereffects. Burnout, mismanagement, and inequities can lead to unhealthy divisions, highlight imbalances, and worsen culture within an institution. Yet, opportunities to innovate arise in times of crisis to escape from unhealthy practices. Team-building activities encourage camaraderie through shared common values and experiences and can bind employees together. As part of a larger mentoring initiative at a Midwestern public university, cohort programming offers a variety of gatherings where members can socialize, both within the library and outside. Brick-and-mortar libraries are commonly cited as examples of “third places:” community building spaces outside of home and work which embody qualities of equity and access without placing demands upon those who use them. The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Libraries’ Archives and Special Collections is temporarily housing a portion of the Great Plains Black History Museum’s (GPBHM) archival collection as a result of an ongoing community partnership. The GPBHM’s stated mission is “…to preserve, educate, and exhibit the contributions and achievements of African Americans with an emphasis on the Great Plains region, as well as provide a space to learn, explore, reflect and remember our history” (https://gpblackhistorymuseum.org/). The presenters will share the results of a 2021 survey of the academic library members of the Association of Research Libraries to determine how information technology services are organized within the libraries and whether there is a trend toward centralizing IT activities at the institution level. Survey findings from the 72 responding libraries address 14 information technology services and activities and identify who is responsible for their technology services, their level of satisfaction with the services, whether the responsibility for them has changed recently, and if so, why. Respondents also provided information about IT assessment and top three challenges. The …

Objective. To assess literature about cancer screening and cancer screening adherence among people of color and how discrimination impacts cancer screening and cancer screening adherence outcomes among patients of color.Methods. PRISMA guidelines were used for the systematic review. EBSCO/MEDLINE, Web of Science, and CINAHL were searched and articles were uploaded in to Rayyan Systematic Review software. Three independent reviewers identified additional articles by searching reference lists of relevant articles; they completed the screening process and reviewed the included articles.Results. Nine eligible studies were included, among which two were qualitative and seven were quantitative. Studies included one cancer screening measure and …

An institutional repository (IR) was launched in 2010 for a university in Singapore. The motivations of setting up an IR were to dissemination the research output through open access, to promote the university and researchers, and to help increase their research impact. Some quantitative and qualitative performance indicators were selected and used to measure the success of the IR. For the review and the performance indicators, the data used came from the IR at SMU, interviews with faculty members, and a study of a set of journal articles available in the IR to test a hypothesis. At Clemson University, each subject librarian has a yearly goal to perform collection assessment and development duties as part of their work with their assigned departments; however, CU Libraries has been without a dedicated Collection Development and/or Management Librarian since prior to the pandemic. As a result, collection development, management, and assessment activities are somewhat piecemeal due to a lack of time, support, and staffing. Kay Bailey Hutchison served Texas and the United States in many capacities during her political career. She vastly impacted Texas, as well as Nacogdoches, Texas in particular, through her time serving as a member of the Texas House of Representatives and as a United States Senator. In 2012, she donated her massive collection of gifts and memorabilia to the East Texas Research Center, a regional archive at Stephen F. Austin State University. This chapter describes a large scale deselection project that took place at Belmont University. The library was renovated and rearranged, which results in the loss of some shelf space. In order to ensure that the best, most relevant parts of the collection remained available in open stacks, a deselection process was undertaken. Using the Koufogiannakis & Brettle EBLIP framework, we collected evidence via literature review, local evidence (circulation stats; WorldCat library holdings), and professional expertise (submitted lists for faculty review). Gen Z and millennials have some surprising attitudes and behaviors regarding media consumption and library use. 54% of Gen Z and millennials visited a physical library within a twelve-month period. Libraries attract even Gen Z and millennials who don’t identify as readers. This report examines Gen Z and millennials' book-related behaviors (such as borrowing, buying, downloading and socializing) and and how media use shapes Gen Z and millennials' identity claims as Readers, Gamers, Fans and Writers. The report is intended for specialists such as librarians and book publishers, and broad public audiences.
