Listeners describe "tingles" as the ASMR experience, but many others enjoy ASMR even if they don't get tingles. ASMR videos have grown in popularity over the years. Recently, they made a resurgence on TikTok, even in parody form (think of the viral Mercedes ASMR video and all of the responses). Becca and Robin have utilized ASMR videos for relaxation and stress-management for the past 10 years. Beryl and Becca thought this could be a great resource for students.

Children In The Workplace: An Exploration In Library Policy Making, Sharolyn Swenson, Marissa Anne Bischoff, Ryan Lee

Children in the workplace are becoming a more common discussion in various work environments, including libraries. Since the university has no policy addressing this issue, a task force was charged to draft a recommended policy for the university library regarding bringing children to the workplace. The task force reviewed existing policies and conducted a survey and interviews with library employees. The resulting policy provided guidelines for employees and their supervisors without being overly prescriptive. JMU Libraries has been growing our support for Black literature and particularly, the rich literary world of Furious Flower, for years. Through the Flowerings grant and the partnership it fosters between JMU Libraries and Furious Flower, we’re entering new and exciting territory. Part of Furious Flower’s mission is to preserve the history of Black poets for future generations. This is a mission that we in the Libraries share, but one we could not realize with archival recordings alone. This article details the processing of the LaVerne Harrell Clark Photographic Collection by University of Arizona Poetry Center librarians, archivists, and interns, and the current status and next steps of the collection. The LaVerne Harrell Clark Photographic Collection, which contains thousands of portraits and candids of poets taken circa 1960-2000 by LaVerne Harrell Clark, the Poetry Center’s first director, is deeply entwined with the Poetry Center’s institutional identity. In addition, the authors explored ways in which the collection and the institution as a whole are positioned as uniquely Western and also of national significance. The Library Committee is a requirement of the RGH Medical/Dental Staff and is facilitated by Dr. Scott Schabel. After RGH and Unity merged, the Libraries formed one department and expanded access and services to all RRH sites. The Library committee, composed of staff from across the health system, provide feedback and share library news with their teams. The committee meets 2x/year via Zoom.

Best of Core Forum webinar series

The BYU Library has created an Inclusive Metadata Policy for metadata creators to use when creating and remediating descriptions to be more inclusive. Accompanying the policy is a companion document with recommendations and examples, including links to many external resources. In addition to working with stakeholders in the library to develop the policy, we consulted with the University’s Office of Belonging. This presentation describes the process we used to undertake the creation of the library policy and recommendations document.

This paper examines the values of privacy and confidentiality in libraries. Maintenance of privacy is arguably costly, yet protecting it is essential to maintain the library mission of providing free access to information. Through a review of secondary sources, the paper considers the shift from the library as primarily a physical space with physical materials to the library as a repository of digital materials with high levels of online library patron engagement. Nat and Evan have experimented with a new approach to data visualization using Dall-E 3, an image generation tool. The goal has been to create data illustrations, like charts, but using images. They discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this approach as demonstrated through numerous examples.

The development of information and communication technology has become the prominent reason for language contact in the native language varieties spoken in the South Asian region. The island nation Sri Lanka is home to a multi-ethnic population and the main vernacular spoken in the country is Sinhala Language. Leadership For Social Change: Clara Whitehill Hunt And The Evolution Of Children’S Librarianship, Suzanne Marie Stauffer

The first generation of children’s librarians, who created the profession in the late-19th and early-20th centuries, were followed by a second generation who enlarged, expanded, and refined the scope of the collection. One of these women was Clara Whitehill Hunt, Superintendent of Work with Children for the Brooklyn Public Library from 1903 to 1940. In addition to developing training courses for children’s librarians, she wrote Library Work with Children for the A.L.A. Manuals of Library Economy series, The Bookshelf for Boys and Girls, a catalog of recommended children’s books and The First Three Hundred Books for the Children’s Library. For …
